In regards to this "Oryx Cheese"

Pushing Templar off=Cheese Pushing Atheon off=Cheese Having 1 man cross bridge=Cheese Preventing Crota from standing up=Cheat Using only 1 orb at golgoroth=Strategy Not killing ogres at a particular time=Strategy People are soo quick to throw out the word "cheese"....... We didn't end up using this strategy when we defeated oryx, always had a guy die on the way up. We found an easier way where we had a titan floating with a blessing bubble in the middle between platforms with mallace. Whoever didn't have to jump on pillar that cycle would join him in the middle to pop in and out of bubble melting ogres as they spawned. Doing this along with some shots from the people on the pillars took down the ogres quick. This gives plenty of time for they guys to turn and snipe their knights. Runner should be saying that he has the relic by that point, Everyone heads to middle, takes out vessel and shoots oryx. Stagger, detonate bombs return to middle, shoot at his chest. Rinse and repeat. When you get teleported, if you can pop a blessing bubble it helps with the shade swinging. Also an optional tip...having 1 guy run up to start the fight while the team stays back between platforms. Don't shoot the thtalls, you can let them come to you and bunch up. Hit them with a tether if you have a hunter. Once tethered, kill them all creating plenty of extra orbs for when needed. Hope this was helpful. Thanks for commenting Wow 1000+ replies, for the most part, a lot of really good points have been pointed out..

It's not a cheese and it's not an easy strat, is it easier than worrying about light eater knights hell yes, is it also easier to get killed, hell yes. Those ogres are pro snipers. Then on top of that you gotta shield yourself from getting hit by oryx. The tomb ship that thing will kill you even if you try to jump OVER it.

    • One could argue "Having 1 man cross bridge=Strategy". If using Self Res it is strategy if climbing the tower it is cheese. The difference is climbing the tower is circumventing the mechanics. Using Self Res is part of the game (which also circumvents the mechanics). It is a thin line but it is a line none the less.

        • Just throwing it out there, having one person go across the bridge is not a cheese itself. I agree that when others self res on the other side or get on top of the tower is cheesing, but I would go across legitly and have everyone else wipe and stay dead while I soloed the ogers.

          • Not a cheese. Term thrown around too often. However, many of us mice love cheese. So streamers and Youtubers call things a cheese to set people a running to their videos

            • Seriously, this community seems so dumb some times. This is not an abuse of code or game dynamics, it's a timing strategy...

                • I dont understand why people would even do it this way. I dont see how its easier the way i did it worked fine. Sit on platforms. Kill ogres. Kill knights. Go to the middle do damage. Throw down invis grenade get blights rinse and repeat.

                        • I haven't tried it but to me it just sounds harder rather than cheesy, I've cleared hard 5 times since it dropped and every time we used blessing+malice ogre killing combo strat, so long as the 3 plates kill their knights the full time ogre guy gets the 4th well the rest of the team take out the vessel #easysauce

Not a cheese in any way imaginable. If that's considered a cheese then why aren't people complaining about all the ads killed by the oculus during Warpriest or oryx when light is detonated? Because guess what kills the light eater Knights? Yep, the corrupted light. If anything I would expect bungie to applaud the strategy.

                          • It's not a cheese, but it's a strategy that bypasses a small mechanic. Just like the Golgoroth one orb strategy! It's not cheating/cheesing or anything like that, but I'm pretty sure Bungie didn't intend for us to do it that way. So, it's not a big deal.

                          • The way I see it, both Golgoroth and Oryx have cheese strategies. Not game breaking like the others, but cheese nonetheless. It's bypassing game mechanics (add control around Golgoroth and the vessel and light eater knights on Oryx). This is in the same category as choosing who teleported in the Vault; manipulating game mechanics. That being said, this raid is easy regardless and I don't see why people need to use this strategy. It seemed to make things more difficult for my raid group. Maybe we just got the strategy down after 6 hard mode completions, but still... sad how it's only going to become more of a joke.

                            • If you cant manage to kill knights and ogres at the same time you probably shouldnt be doing the hard raid. It really isnt that hard and it surprises me that people have to come up with strategies like this to bypass raid mechanics.

                              • It's not a cheese. I don't know why everyone keeps saying you're ignoring a game mechanic because you really aren't. When you kill the orge you still have to deal with the knights trying to kill people sitting in the blight. I'll pretend for a moment that you're ignoring a mechanic (you're not). Where did Bungie say how and when to kill light eater knights? <<<that's a rhetorical
