In regards to this "Oryx Cheese"
Pushing Templar off=Cheese
Pushing Atheon off=Cheese
Having 1 man cross bridge=Cheese
Preventing Crota from standing up=Cheat
Using only 1 orb at golgoroth=Strategy
Not killing ogres at a particular time=Strategy
People are soo quick to throw out the word "cheese".......
We didn't end up using this strategy when we defeated oryx, always had a guy die on the way up.
We found an easier way where we had a titan floating with a blessing bubble in the middle between platforms with mallace.
Whoever didn't have to jump on pillar that cycle would join him in the middle to pop in and out of bubble melting ogres as they spawned.
Doing this along with some shots from the people on the pillars took down the ogres quick.
This gives plenty of time for they guys to turn and snipe their knights.
Runner should be saying that he has the relic by that point,
Everyone heads to middle, takes out vessel and shoots oryx.
Stagger, detonate bombs return to middle, shoot at his chest.
Rinse and repeat.
When you get teleported, if you can pop a blessing bubble it helps with the shade swinging.
Also an optional tip...having 1 guy run up to start the fight while the team stays back between platforms. Don't shoot the thtalls, you can let them come to you and bunch up. Hit them with a tether if you have a hunter. Once tethered, kill them all creating plenty of extra orbs for when needed.

Thank you for your logic. i used this in a somewhat modded way and it was still hard. players died many times. thing didnt just work all "easy" as people think.

9 RepliesKnights were introduced to change how people do the encounter. Tell me, regardless of strategy or 'cheese' or whatever, was the method of clearing the encounter changed? The answer is yes, so Bungie accomplished what they wanted. Just because some people were too stupid to think of it doesn't mean Bungie didn't intend for the strategy to be used. Regardless of strategy, the drinker knights are dealt with as intended (you prevent them from stealing the bombs).

12 RepliesWhere did the term cheese come from anyway? Just call it what it really is: cheating. I don't see this method as cheating though. You're doing the fight as intended. A cheat would be finding a way to glitch outside the map and just shoot at oryx when his chest opens up.

Even a Bungie employee called it a legitimate strategy; and Bungie LOVES throwing the word cheese around. (As evidenced in the Weekly Updates) Can we not?

25 RepliesYou are avoiding the mechanic of having to kill the Knights so they don't eat your orbs. That is a cheat. The golgoroth strat isn't a cheese because you aren't avoiding any mechanics, you still have to do it all.

Cheesing a fight is where you cause a glitch that makes parts of the fight not work as intended and give the players an advantage. Standing in a spot a killing enemies at your leisure is not a cheese

12 RepliesPfft look at all these losers complaining about making a raid easier by whining about skipping 4 stupid knights that are just a bloody annoyance in a raid that gives crappy weps. This raids rewards are hardly worth the effort needed to get them. Sorry but i hold the weapons from VoG and CE as the standard of what raid weapons should be. Which is "The best of the best for PvE". Come on, someone try and tell me that there was a better Hand Cannon for PvE than the Fatebringer, or a better sniper rifle in PvE than the Black Hammer. Go for it i dare ya! The only god damn thing that's worth a damn in this new raid is the pulse rifle and that's only because of the fact it is the only pulse rifle in the game that can have firefly. Don't lie, lmfao. Let's be honest, the only reason most of the people bother with the raid is so they can get to the highest light levels possible, which is now 310+. So far this raid seems to just piss people off, and lacks a "fun" factor. Here;s a test for everyone who gets to the end of my post. Mention to everyone you do the raid with that there will be no more elemental primaries, and watch how many people lose interest in the raid completely. Just try it.

How about when the legend himself clan two manned it. Is it considered a cheese by not getting the relic and killing the vessel? NO. A cheese is pushing atheon off the map or templar

Definition of cheese is a strategy or strategies that allow a player way(s) to complete something in a game not using the designed method(s). All cheating are therefore cheese, but not all cheeses are necessarily cheating. This Oryx mechanic is technically a cheese, but not cheating IMO. Pushing Atheon off the edge (same with Templar) I would consider the same as well, 100% cheese but not cheating. Glitching Crota from standing via internet connection is cheating. Lag switches are cheating. Again, just my opinion, but if it is IN the game then use it. If you are doing something to change what is in the game then it is 100% cheating.

It isn't a cheese because all mechanics are still in play. knights will still spawn. just not quick enough to matter. imo unlike the 1 orb strat this should get addressed somehow. This method is as probably as close as you can get to a cheese with out it being one.

Plus leaving the ogres alive is just risky. It's not hard to kill the knights. Kids are just bad. It's so easy to kill both ogres quickly and then focus on the knight after. Even if.You don't have anyone up top you can still run to the middle to get the immune bubble and.kill the fourth knight from there

I dont see it as a cheat since if you dont do anything after grabbing the aura and staggering oryx he just stays there shooting at you for quite a while, clearly its a time gap you have to actualy having the ogres finished so you can detonate those orbs they leave behind.

Idk why no one goes up to where the daughters were. I one manned the middle with a hunter ToM with no bubble bcuz I was up top not being shot by adds. Use ToM for the first ogre. Snipe the second to get your health back. The third ogre use ToM and the fourth ogre use your sniper again. Then being up top everyone run to the middle and I would kill the last light eater knight so the people on the bottom don't get overrun by adds. Without a bubble up top tho you just must make sure to be on the opposite side of oryx. That way you can see him eye blast you. That's how we first best oryx on hard. My second run I used the titan and it was a cake walk.

2 RepliesYou know what I don’t like cheesing any part of the raid and that’s what I like about Kings fall is there’s not a way to cheese any part of this raid. This is defiantly border line but you’re still having to do the full raid, you’re still having to kill the orges,stun oryx and get the bombs and still kill the shade. This strategy still will take coordination and skill to pull off. We shall see what Bungie thinks about this in the coming weeks I guess.
