Bungie trying to push in recon?

It seems like now that many more people have recon and it is becoming less special even with halo 3 still out. Bungie seems to be pushing it with the Bungie vs The World Day and the Microsoft Challenge. It's almost like they want everyone to have it because when out comes ODST everyone with live will have it and games will be based with strictly recon wearers. I rememeber when recon was hard to get with the screenshots let alone any other way. Bassically I am saying that Bungie is pretty much just trying to hand out recon at this point and by the time ODST comes out I predict at least half the ammount of recon bearers will be doubled and when ODST comes out I would say in weeks the Recon population will double. How special is Recon if everyone has it? Discuss

 •
Posted by: pijon68 ummmm ya it does. it takes place before it
Hahaha, orly? They're pointing out that once Reach is released, people won't be playing as much Halo 3. The multiplayer exerience between the two will be unrelated.

 • It is simple.Halo 3 releases. People love it. Other games come out, a few less people play it. Insert map pack-people play again repeat. Giving out recon in odst is one of those things taht will once again bring Halo 3 back to the top live list. It is smart buisness.

 • The second Bungie began handing out sets of Recon, it became inevitable that Bungie would eventually make it accessible to everyone. Now the last thing they have unique about them would be the Flaming Helmet, and hopefully they'll never give that one up. Recon does decrease in "value" if it becomes publicly available, but Bungie's already stated that th Vidmaster Achievements won't be as easy as the ones we already have.

 • The game is coming to its twilight, it is only natural to play all the cards available.

 • Right now there are about 2,000 people that have Recon. At any given time, there are about 250,000 people online. That means there are less than 100 people online with recon at any given time. I'd say that its still pretty rare.

But I don't get to mad, I realize that most people do it because they are jealous.

 •
Posted by: Jack Wraith Life is way too short to stress about something like this. When you think about it, it's just a skin on a video game. If you define who you are as a person by your gamerscore on xbox live or by what kind of armor you have in Halo 3, you need to: get outside more, spend some time with a significant other, read a non-fiction book, or anything that requires you to unplug and get some down time from whatever it is you are taking too seriously. The people that have Recon are not special and never were. Recon armor is not special. It's a skin in the game. You want some... awesome. Get some. You will be able to in the future and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I think it was a mistake to hang it out there as a reward for stuff in the first place. It created an environment of the haves and havenots, which was conducive to fostering greed and jealousy, which are the two number one motives for bad behavior and most crimes. I understand they wanted to have an ace in the hole to whip out and encourage people to do cool and fun things for the community, and it has accomplished that, but for every action there's an equal and opposite reaction. In short, get over it.
First of all i'm not stressing over this I am simply stating my opinion and when I say special I don't mean amazing or anything like that I mean they are the only ones with that armor. Second I don't play much. Now I will admit I have played quite a bit in the past but not much now. Frankly I am mostly outside with my friend or riding bikes but if it is rainy outside, snowing, super cold, or night then I should be able to play my games without going over bored and having a gaming addiction. There are people out there who have no life and who dedicate themselves to gaming. That is all I have to say. [Edited on 07.20.2009 6:36 AM PDT]

Also, it will shut up the "OMG can I haz Rec0nz!" people. That's a win in my opinion.

 • Whoever said that when ODST comes out, everyone will have it. You still have to get the vidmaster achievements, which even if the fake ones are true, seem pretty -blam!- hard.

 • Eh, I don't care. The only reason why it was special is because it was exclusive. When they give it away in ODST, it will go through a Hayabusa phase, then things will wind down back to normal. Besides, I view Recon as a parting gift. It is a gift to those who have been loyal to Halo 3. Now that they are going to do Halo: Reach, there is no longer any point in keeping Recon since Halo 3 will "die" next year.
