How about infusable item drops for armor? You get an item that lets you infuse a specific type of gear to the rating of the item (no worries about spare parts or doing math to figure out what the infused item's light level will be. A 310 helmet booster will boost any year two helmet to 310, regardless of original light level.

A drop that only drops from hard mode? I would be okay with that. But many items I find look amazing are blue. Maybe when used such item on blue it upgrades to legendary with a random perk roll. Then use another to infuse said item to 310
