Voidwalker Buff

I think most Warlocks would agree that some aspects of Voidwalker could use a slight buff, while others need to be changed. So my fellow Warlocks, this is what I propose: -Nova Bomb needs increased damage. It should be able to annihilate majors with ease. It is supposed to be a massive burst of damage, not a crappy, faster version of Stormtrance. -Life Steal should be on hit! Killing an enemy while at low health without being under fire never happens, and Flame Shield is on hit, which is better altogether anyway because if you get hit during health regeneration it stops immediately. -I'm fairly sure that Lance and Shatter decrease the blast radius of Nova Bomb. Shatter is okay I guess, since it covers more area horizontally anyway, maybe it needs a slightly bigger blast radius per projectile, but Lance should not decrease blast radius. Traveling farther and faster is a good concept, but it needs something more to make it worth it, like I would actually use it if it had an additional effect (comment if you have an idea). -Angry Magic does nothing. -The Hunger and Embrace the Void should count towards the ability attached to Energy Drain, i.e. Surge, Life Steal, and Soul Rip. Comment what you think! Personally I think this will put Voidwalkers to where they need to be. Everything else is pretty much okay in my opinion. Edit: I do believe that all subclasses before TTK (excluding Defender and Sunsinger, maybe) need a little reworking. I just can't really talk very much about the others since I don't have them. My main concern is Voidwalker. Feel free to leave thoughts about the others as well.

    • Couldn't disagree more. I love Voidwalker. Of course Shatter has less blast radius, there's 3 instead of 1. It's meant for add control over a wide area, whereas Vortex is more single target/concentrated damage. Life Steal is an absolute beast, can't count how many times it's saved my life. Sure the regen stops if you get hit but it's always given me enough time to escape at the very least. Shatter, Life Steal, Bloom, Scatter Grenade. With high Dis/strength and preferably Obsidian Mind. Nothing stands a chance. When using Shatter with Majors, get close. It prevents the spread and applies all the damage to a small area, even better if they have lesser adds around them. That's my view on the matter anyway, I'm all about Stormcaller now :).

      • Completely agree, warlocks really need a buff, specially void walker.. A titan shoots like 5 -blam!-ing hammers that do more damage than our single shot nova bomb... Honestly there is absolutely no reason to play a warlock.. When I started playing destiny I chose one because the name sounded cool and have to stuck to him since then , but it really pisses me off that warlocks don't have shit..they are -blam!-ing useless, we need to be needed

          • The Hunger and Embrace the Void work in harmony together. Embrace the Void applies energy drain the your grenades, it's default on melee so not sure where you're going. With near max discipline it almost replenishes an entire grenade. I use to run Embrace in Trials so I'll vouch for it being good. The hunger just makes your drain last a little longer. Honestly it's not really worth losing larger explosions for 4 or 5 more seconds of drain. That's what Skull of Dire Ahamkara was for. It basically gave you the hunger perk for free along with increased armor when you throw nova bomb. But it's not in yr2 for some reason even though it was underused and in no way near the level of the Ram. For Nova I'd say it does need a bit of a buff, but not sure about crushing a Major. No super does that. However I would really like to see the Vortex option do more damage in both game modes but especially PvE. And yeah Lance needs help. Maybe make Angry Magic work better with it? The maps in PvP also don't really make it an option, like ever.

            • I love the class warlock, and I love voidwalker most of all for any and all activities pve or PvP. Though it's final product is just ... Underwhelming. In PvP with the new supers, I can most likely attest I'm the only one who still utilizes it. I mean, it can't even kill a striker with nova bomb when they go foh. And in pve, it's just out shone by stormcaller and especially sunsinger thus no one using it. Put all that on top of hunters substantially getting a utility version of voidwalker (thus better for endgame) and now my favorite class drifts into insignificance. But there is still hope!!! So a mod, deej, Cozmo, ninjas, ANYONE read this and spread the news. And maybe just maybe, one day I along with any voidwalker can enter a fireteam without being kicked because of class discrimination. Now the main reason voidwalker seems the way it does is because it has no real defining aspect that makes it unique. Ahamkara? Nope, let's give it to the hunters even though guardians with only the strongest of minds could defeat them
no hate hunters. I just needed to get that off my chest
. Blink? Nah, let's also give it to hunters, then make shotguns op so that everyone blink shotguns and even if you don't you will be shunned. Then after a long needed patch, we will just change the mechanic near entirely. I'm not defending old blink. But the new one is just hard to get used to... Moving on, when I think of voidwalker, I fathom the dark mage character in most RPGs. High health and recovery, decent to low defense, and high attack with a special capability to steal HP from it's enemies. Now, what are other reasons I compel you to look at voidwalker like a dark mage stat? Well just look at the names of the perks: life steal, soul rip, energy drain. and just the lore behind it. So this is how I believe voidwalker needs to be altered. 1): damage output When observing voidwalker for the first time last year I insinuated it would be a prodigiously high attack and offence with pretty much no way to recover or defend asides from the player's skill and the recovery and armor stats in the skill tree. Now bungie sort of designed this. In fact they did it perfectly on paper. But in practice? Nearly everything can survive nova bomb during end game content- in fact here is my list - entities which cannot survive nova bomb on equal level activities: Low tiers- shanks, thrall, harpies, psion (all being residual red bars or majors) Mid tier- dregs, vandals, acolytes, goblins, hobgoblins, legionaries, phalanxes (some vandal and phalanxes can survive if they are majors. Other than that, all die being majors or not) And that's about it, any strong tier or high tier enemies substantially always survive when not damaged prior. I even went into vog a few days ago for nostalgia. Not only can nova bomb not kill level 27 to 30 oracles, but it also takes one to two shots from ol' pradyeth just to finish the job. Even on strikes such as sekrion on say level 30 and I am 34. On a smidgen of health and I mean lower than the small triangle of health he has after a long run of beating the ever loving radiolarians out of him, it can still survive nova bomb!!!. But let's say we put void burn on and go to omnigol on level 32with no shield at about 1/6th of her health (you still being level 34) she dies just like that. However much damage nova bomb does during void burn, it should do on it's own. The only things nova bomb shouldn't kill should be high tiers (fallen spider tanks, ogres, Cyclopes, and Colossus's) and even then, excluding the tank; nova bomb should do 30 to 50% to them. (Also with shielded majors, they should die unless shield is active and they are above 50% health.) 2 : skill tree changes Now I believe that at least one skill in each subclass could have been done better. The grenades fine before you inquire. Passive abilities fine. The problem is firstly, lance. Unless it's you're play style, I rarely see anyone even use that. So the new lance could act as a nova beam - blast - laser - whatever you want to call it. In other words lance is essentially galik gun for up to 5 seconds and over penetrates enemies. This would be great for bosses who normally are idle ie golgroth, templar, oryx, kaliks, sepiks, etc. Of course the trade off would be is that during the new lance, you are pretty much immobilized asides from aiming it Next there is melees. Now as for surge, I believe it is fine. It does what it needs to and that is imperative. The real dilemma is life steal. Currently, it only procs when you kill an enemy, and it is inconsequential if you activated it on full health. The new life steal procs regardless of an enemy dying. If they do not die on contact for the 5 seconds of life steal, it will bequeath the victim a d.o.t and all damage done to them reciprocates and heals you. If on full health, it has the potential to grant yo 1/4 of an over shield as they are damaged. Not only would this put some new spins in voidwalker, it could also help with the 'dark mage' feel it should have. Also (this is just an idea) but energy drain could also add a paralysis type effect in pve along with it's current ability. So when energy drain is used, it not only increases grenade charge, but as well you slow enemies and when they are slowed you obtain an agility buff. (Just a thought) My final complaint is with annihilate where it augments the radius of nova bomb. It's great and all, but compared to angry magic or the hunger; it's pretty lack luster. The new annihilate would instead keep nova bomb the same radius, but give it an after shock effect. So let's say I launch a nova bomb at a major ogre, it survives from the initial blast, however only a second later will annihilate kick in doing half to 3/4 of the original damage. And that's how you can do it bungie. With those simple steps, I can go voidwalker and not be harassed to switch classes or be kicked. And on another note, bring skull of dire ahamkara to year 2. It was my favorite and first exotic. I mean it's arguably the best looking and most rare warlock exotic in the game. and I have an idea on how to tweak it
delusions of grandeur will now work as so: improved siphon ability not only means 8 seconds of energy drain rather than 4, but an improved attribute to any of the melee perks chosen. Further more, rather than it giving you extra armor during nova bomb, you are invincible during nova bomb and from killing 3 or more red bar or 2 or more majors will you obtain a over shield. Or you could obtain it by taking an extreme amount of damage all at once and surviving for 3 seconds afterward ( you will only obtain the over shield by one of these ways not both) Or anew perk called "illusions of grandeur" where all enemies damaged but not killed by grenades, charged melee, or super are now blinded similar to marked by the void (but all at once) for ten seconds. If the enemy is not killed within the first 5 seconds a d.o.t will be placed on the warlock themselves and the enemy (will not process on bosses)
• As a Warlock/Titan main, I agree with points 1, 4, and 5. Damage boost would be nice for PvE, and won't make a difference in PvP as it's already a one-hit kill. I also have noticed Angry Magic doesn't work, or if it does, it could work much better because as it is now, I cannot see a difference when using Shatter. And that last point, I've been wondering why the effect doesn't kick in for a while now. But if Voidwalkers get a buff, so should Bladedancers in PvE. And Strikers.

            • I agree that nova bomb needs a buff. The damage it does to majors is underwhelming. Its a super that should kill everything, or at least weaken to the point of near death against strong majors. The same goes for strikers. Its a one time use super so why should it be underwhelming compared to the mobility supers?...

              • They should buff all three grenades. Why do they have three crowd control grenades? Bolt should move faster, scatter should seek without manacles and vortex is fine. The melee has a good range but that's it. Life steal should trigger on hit when your life is low and everytime on a kill. Super needs a quicker animation, you need immunity for your super and shatter needs a wider berth.

                • Maybe bungie can do a quest line for all the old subclasses that will let you "remaster it". Remaster it as in change the perks in the subclass so they are up to par with the newer supers.

                  • I disagree with most of your points, but a few I do. I've mained a warlock exclusively throughout the game and have fully maxed out the other two subclasses but voidwalker is my favorite by far. It's super is essentially a throwable fist of panic and has even stats. The energy drown perk should grant a greater return of melee and grenade energy and angry magic should work like death from above

                          • I'm going to tell you what I agree with, what I don't agree with, and what I think should be changed about voidwalker. I definitely agree that all three Nova Bombs should do more damage by far. It wouldn't affect anything in PvP and would definitely seem as a dangerous single target destroyer. I also agree with the life steal as it should proct on ever fully charged melee hit if that perk is selected. I don't really agree with the bigger explosion radius of Nova Bomb simply because it is already pretty big. Things I would change would be make The Hunger and Embrace the Void one perk and put it at the end of the final teir perk tree. Then to replace the Hunger I'd put a perk that allows Nova Bombs to detonate based on proximity to the enemy. Seeing as the only way to use Lance is if you're above the enemy, and it's really hard to get high fast with a warlock jump, it would Mae Lance much more useful at actually killing things.

I really don't see how they need a buff. Defender is still the most useless class in PvP and Voidwalkers are asking for a buff. Oh well. I guess they could use a bit of tuning, though there is literally nothing wrong with how the class preforms.
