Playing with lower level friends - do you get scaled down?

I like to play with my sister, but often times I get ahead in games. If a level 10 player joins a party with a level 5 player, doing level 5 content, will the level 10 be significantly stronger? Some games automatically make you "weaker" to match the lower level content you are doing. Wondering if this is the case with Destiny.

  • That's just the way it is even if you aren't playing with someone else. I can critically hit an enemy at max level for 20k but hit the same type of enemy but of a lower level for 300. With the same weapon. And I still can one punch kill a low level vandal, but I can be killed with a single shield bash from a low level phalanx. I think it is screwed up.

  • I believe so. Damage you deal and damage you take will be scaled to the highest level the enemy you're fighting is. If you fight a level 40 enemy, you do your max damage. Fighting a level 32, you deal damage is if you were 32, etc.

  • Yeah, when you're very overleveled for somthing, you get scaled down to try and match you with you enemies. It'll still be 'easy' for you though, because you're still overleveled.
