So I just started, and I play with six real life friends who've been on Destiny a long time are all well geared.
I just can't understand why after one bad lop-sided Crucible match none of them want to queue up for Crucible ever again? Is it pride? These are the same guys who can tackle the game's hardest content and win.
I'm not yet at endgame so maybe I'm missing something, but isn't the thrill/pressure/progress inherently fun? I leveled to 40 (293 light) from Crucible and Strikes and I'm definitely middle-of-the-pack. I think they're totally unreasonable to expect to beat Crucible veterans without due practice. What do you say? Why are our mentalities so different?
Cheers for all the crazy skilled kills people have gotten on my ass these last few weeks. ^^;

Dying in the crucible makes most people stronger. You dust yourself off, learn what you did wrong, and find a way to counter the person and the method they used to kill you. People get the mentality that, because another player killed you and not an npc, you must be bad. This just compounds itself the more a player dies. They just need to step back take a breath or two and realise that crucible and any pvp activities take more than just skill. You need to learn the maps and places people hide, you need to die to know your own weakness and dependencies and how to bolster these so you have less openings. You need a fair amount of luck and as everybody knows, few people walk into a pvp arena as a golden God of death. It is something you have to work at just like the pve aspect. Now sadly it is heartbreaking to lose over and over but I have an idea for you and your friends. Take that crushing feeling of loss and make it your fuel. Every time you lose use that feeling to psych yourselves up for a better game next round. Keep practicing till you start destroying teams and when you start winning so much you run out of fuel, change your motivator. Know that at this point you have gotten so good as a team that you are bringing the same feelings you had at first onto others. Don't play to be legendary, don't play to absolutely crush people, play to give back every ounce of pain you earned when starting. Give back to the pvp community gram for gram all the rough treatment you got starting out. Play not to be feared or revered, play so that the persons on the receiving end would rather put down their controller and mow their lawn than face you again. I hope this helps your friends overcome their inhibitions. o7

Mentality required ? Yeah it's called "perspective"! As in "it's a video game, it's not important, it should be fun"
-
Just go around and sing: Trololololooooo.

Getting matched in a game where you're constantly one shorted by snipers, shotguns, and supers is no fun. You can't improve your skills of you me dead most of the time. A good match feels even, and Bungie is trying (and failing) to set up fair matches server side. My advice: what for Iron Banner. That's when the regular players come out to play.
-
Mentality required? Everything is bullshit
-
Eh.....people can be weird when it comes to pvp. Some people are naturally super competitive & some are just laid back. No right or wrong....people are just different is all.

Crucible is the most frustrating yet addictive part of destiny for me. I rage far more than I ever would in pve but still come back for more. When I started I barely ever broke above .5kds but after watching videos, improving my gear, learning my game style and simply 'getting good' I now generally hold my own and hover around the 1+ kd mark. I think pve players dislike it because it is unpredictable. The raid is about learning specific mechanics and following them to the letter but a lot of crucible is dealing with unpredictable human beings.
-
For me crucible is the place to chill and have fun Pve makes me -blam!-ing rage so hard xD

Edited by Myth: 10/8/2015 5:26:41 AMMy PvE friends are awesome at Raids/Strikes, but struggle at crucible, and get scared off easy too.

People hate to lose to someone else in a game... Who knows maybe they're worried about becoming a clip in someone's crucible killing spree montage. You just gotta stay calm, be cool and try to have fun. Wont win every gun fight but give it your best. Skill and experience take time
-
Able to deal with lag and snipers shotguns.
-
You need a bag of Doritos and a 2 liter bottle of Mountain Dew. As for attitude, you need to want to rip off people's head and shit down their necks. If you fail to do this, you must play more.

b gud

Last Monday I lost 5 games in a row. Then I realized I'm using year two weapons in the crucible. I switched to mida and have been winning a lot more
-
Just a thought - I have no idea if this would actually work. But have you thought of all joining a fireteam together and entering one of the 6 player match types? Free-for all or 3v3?That way you are all practicing on/with each other, and it might make it a little more fun. Again, not sure if it would work like that, letting you all fight only each other. Regardless, have fun out the Guardian! =)

"Human nature dictates that we strive for victory, but defeat holds all the lessons." Never lose hope guardian, for your light is strong.

There is no right mentality to play crucible, everyones different. However, Tilt isn't good for any player noob or pro.
-
I think the mentality is "if i like it, play it. If i dont like it, dont play it". It also seems like people quit when they never win or do well. I havent touched a game of monopoly in 4 years because out of about 20 games (each being 2-4 hours) i never won 1 game so ill move on to better things that i enjoy or may be good at.

Forget the kds and get in it. You will get better.

People simply want to get the highest KD and win easily rather than take the time to improve skills like a real gamer. If they really wanted to be good at Crucible, they would take the time to actually learn how to play it.
-
There's not much skill required in this games pvp. I mean any scrub can get into a close quarters map (more than half the maps btw) equip a shotgun and rocket launcher and easily, I mean very easily, go even. Shotguns should only be a OHK to the head. I don't even give a fûck. They have been since day one, and still are, the easiest and clearly superior special weapon.

Edited by Impurity41: 10/6/2015 4:09:28 AMThey are probably sore losers.
Lol don't let them play me in SSBB, they will cry.
Tell them to get the chaperone
-
Crucible is unbalanced and scrub friendly. It's designed to have no skill gap so yeah, make sure you save the salt your teammates left behind.
-
Sorry I -blam!-ed ur friends I'll go ez next time

You have good games and bad games. Pvp keeps you on your feet and makes every moment so exciting. I love the pressure even when I'm getting my ass kicked! Enjoy the challenge when going up against better players.
