MLG Cheehwawa's ** Halo REACH script ** (+REACH 2 preview!)

Halo: REACH by MLG Cheehwawa *** // PLEASE POST YOUR THOUGHTS TO KEEP THIS THREAD ALIVE. A LOT OF WORK WENT INTO IMAGINING, RESEARCHING, WRITING, AND EDITING THIS... ALL DONE BY ME. THANKS! \\ *** ** Moderator-approved ** DISCLAIMERS This is entirely my creation (I have borrowed lines directly from some novels to tie this in with the existing canon); I have no affiliation with Bungie studios and do not claim to know what Halo REACH will be about. This is my idea for what REACH would be like if I were the writer on the project. A lot of this has been crafted by me, and not taken directly from the Halo canon (namely characters, locations, battles, and ships), but to the best of my knowledge, it does not conflict with the canon at all. If it does, let me know so I can tweak it. The numbering question: Sierra-259 and Sierra-320 have call-signs above 150, the original number of Spartan-II candidates. My explanation for this is that there was a large pool of children surveyed (at least 320). Then of those, 150 of the best were selected, and of those, only 75 were conscripted due to budget limitations. The script is all complete and posted. This is definitely not the end of the story, though. I have designed this to be a trilogy of games. I'm working on the first sequal now, which will run parallel with the beginning of Halo 2 and some of Ghosts of Onyx, but it will be a new story like with my first script. Halo REACH 2 will show us numerous things which Bungie hasn't told us about, that you will find out as I post. I don't know how fast I will be able to get the sequal done, though I already have the backbone for the first and second sequals, as well as the first cinematic (Harbinger), as well as about half of the first mission, for REACH 2. I'm starting at a full time job tomorrow and another semester at college late this month. I will get this done as fast as possible. IF YOU DO NOT WANT MY STORY SPOILED, I SUGGEST YOU AVOID THE BESTIARUM AND DRAMATIS PERSONAE UNTIL SOMETHING IN THE STORY CONFUSES YOU. Otherwise you may know how the story ends before you even begin. I write this for three reasons: 1. Because I love the Halo Universe. 2. I am the writer for a small game developing studio. This is good practice for my current and future work. 3. To share my story; a lot of effort went into this, so please give it a read and leave some feedback if you have the time. I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I enjoyed researching and writing it. Halo REACH
0: Introduction (this!) I: Dramatis personae (Part 1) II: Bestiarum (Part 1 ll Part 2) III: The Pillar of Autumn (Part 1 ll Part 2) IV: Reach (Part 1 ll Part 2) V: The Grid (Part 1 ll Part 2) VI: The Divine Retribution (Part 1 ll Part 2 ll Part 3) VII: Camp Independence (Part 1 ll Part 2 ll Part 3) VIII: Ruins (Part 1 ll Part 2 ll Part 3) IX: Graves (Part 1 ll Part 2 ll Part 3 ll Part 4 ll Part 5) X: Asterion (Part 1 ll Part 2) XI: Pathways (Part 1 ll Part 2) XII: Revalation (Part 1 ll Part 2 ll Part 3) XIII: Ghosts of Reach (Part 1 ll Part 2 ll Part 3) XIV: Credits (Part 1) XV: Legendary Ending (Part 1)
Halo REACH 2 (preview)
Harbinger: (Part 1 ll Part 2) Notes (Part 1 ll Part 2) [Edited on 08.30.2009 6:52 PM PDT]

 •
Posted by: TW InKoGnIto I would not be surprised if Bungie used this.
Seriously? This fan fiction/script is great and all, but Bungie wouldn't use it -- ever. Too many royalties and complications would be involved. Besides, I'm pretty sure they're nearly done with the campaign, they've been working on it since Halo 3.

Two Brutes stand in the center of the Bridge, facing the main entrance, with other Brutes operating the controls on the perimeter. One of the pair wears blood-red armor, with black-and-white streaked hair clearly visible between the plating. The other, slightly shorter and more youthful, wears very little armor like the Halo 2-style Brute, and has pure black fur. His hair is shaved in unique designs, including the hair on his cheeks, similar to the Brutes in Halo 3. The armored Brute speaks loudly for all to hear: NABORUS: Crewmen! Close: focus on the two Brutes. The older one in the armor, NABORUS, looks at his Bridge crew, now at attention. NABORUS: You are dismissed from your duties. I will summon you when we are to make away from the station. Medium: the Brutes of the Bridge shuffle out of the side entrances, leaving only the pair standing atop the floating "island" in the center of the Bridge. Close: focus on NABORUS as he speaks quietly: NABORUS: the Chieftain is waiting. He is an old battle-mate of mine. Do not disappoint me, Lepidus. Close: focus on LEPIDUS as he speaks in a confident tone, puffing his chest out slightly. LEPIDUS: I will not, Shipmaster. Close: focus on NABORUS as he stares at LEPIDUS for a moment, gives a half-nod of approval, and keys a control on a panel next to him. Medium: the main entrance slides open noislessly, revealing a trio of massive figures. The central Brute sports an icy white mohawk and carries a massive gravity hammer. A Brute accompanies him on either side. The one on the left is clearly older, with fading brown fur: GRATTIUS. The one on the right is younger, sports red-brown fur: STRABUS. The trio makes their way to the center of the Bridge. NABORUS and LEPIDUS drop to a knee as they near. Close: TARTARUS stands above the pair, gives a gruff laugh, and speaks: TARTARUS: Rise, friend! NABORUS rises up and stands face to face with TARTARUS, and performs a rough handshake maneuver. LEPIDUS remains in his kneeling position, head hung low in respect. NABORUS: It has been too long! TARTARUS: Indeed it has, Naborus. I shall make some time to start a hunt. NABORUS: Like the old days. TARTARUS grins wide, and then allows a more somber look come across his face and pauses before replying: Extreme Close: focus on TARTARUS' face as he speaks: TARTARUS: Times are changing, old friend. The Prophets are finally seeing the Jiralhanae for all that we are worth. Close: focus on the pair of Brutes conversating. NABORUS: Indeed. The Brute moves the crystal forward, thrusting it into NABORUS' grip. Close: focus on the Brute pair. TARTARUS: This... is a holy relic. The Shard of and Oracle. The Prophet of Truth has dispatched orders to re-activate the plasma weaponry aboard your ship. NABORUS: For what purpose? TARTARUS: Your ship The Triumphant Declaration is the new flag-ship of the Jiralhanae fleet of Furious Redemption. You will lead one of three offenses. NABORUS: But the Sangheili will not allow us to-- TARTARUS snaps a quick reply, asserting his dominance. TARTARUS: They are not the ones who make the decisions. The Prophets are. NABORUS: I... I understand. What am I to lead the Fleet against? TARTARUS: Further orders will be relayed to you soon. This crystal must be kept safe, as it is a vital component of the next step. NABORUS: Next step? TARTARUS: You will know in time. { he gestures toward LEPIDUS, still kneeling with his head bowed. } And who is this? LEPIDUS stands as soon as he is referred to. He bows his head when he stands straight and allows his Shipmaster -- no, Fleetmaster -- to answer for him. NABORUS: This is my nephew, Lepidus. He is my prime officer. TARTARUS: Nephew... { he snorts. } Keep your eye on him. I was once an officer aboard my Uncle's ship once as well. NABORUS: Yes, Chieftain. NABORUS and LEPIDUS bow simultaneously, the younger hesitates slightly. Close: focus on TARTARUS and his two henchmen. TARTARUS: I will leave my two cohorts with you. For the safe-keeping of the Relic. { he gestures toward the older one, with fading brown hair. } Grattius, { he gestures toward the younger one, with red-brown fur. } Strabbus. I will be in contact. The two henchmen step away from their Chieftain, bow to him, and move to stand behind NABORUS and LEPIDUS. TARTARUS: Be safe, Naborus. I will speak with you soon. NABORUS: Yes, Chieftain. Close, tracking: follow TARTARUS. The four Brutes on the Bridge bow to the Chieftain, as the alpha Jiralhanae turns to leave through the main entrance. Silence follows him. He exits through the door, which slides shut behind him as the camera turns back into the bridge, detaches from following the Brute, and drops slowly to the floor as the four Brutes on the Bridge stand straight and turn to eachother, just before the doors shut. Cut to black. [Edited on 08.09.2009 7:45 AM PDT]

 • Here is a preview for Halo REACH 2 script. Not sure when it will be done, or even when I will post the next chapter as I start a new job tomorrow. The walls, floor, and ceiling of the chamber are ornamented with mirrored shards taken as trophies from the countless worlds glassed by the Covenant war machine. Lining the sides of the room are 300 Honor Guards, standing at attention. In the middle of the room hovers the Prophet of TRUTH in his throne. Extreme Close: the camera, mounted on TRUTH's arm rest, focuses on hisleft claw. It twitches slightly, and the doors dozens of meters infront of him groan open. Close: Focus on the door as it opens, morphing into a brilliant slit of light illuminating a hulking figure, who moves into the room toward Truth, and he passes the camera. He sports brutal armor, grey-blue skin, and a white mohawk. He is TARTARUS. Close, tracking: follow TARTARUS as he walks carefully towards Truth. The Elites, standing absolutely still, display looks of disguist as the Brute is allowed closer to their holiest leader. TARTARUS reaches TRUTH. Medium, angle down: TARTARUS bows so deeply that his chest brushes against the floor, and holds. Close: focus on TRUTH as he speaks to the Brute, his voice amplified by the chamber walls: TRUTH: Rise. This is all there was to find. Close: focus on the crystal shards, floating in place, with Truth's upper body out of focus behind them. He comes into focus when he speaks: TRUTH: A pity. The crystals fall back into the orb and the lid screws itself back on. Follow the orb as it drifts into the Prophet's grasp. TRUTH: It may yet be enough for our purposes... and one more relic from the Great Ones, as precious as they are, will soon make no difference to us. { the Prophet tucks the container into his robe. } Make sure the pilots who survived are well rewarded. DANTE-259: Only one way to find out. Let's move. [Edited on 08.05.2009 11:36 AM PDT]

 • This script actually deals with the fall (battle) of the planet Reach, not Halo: The Fall of Reach... but Keyes does have a cameo =)

 • I don't have the time to read all this now, so thread is saved, but I am going to take a guess and say the main character is going to be Jacob Keyes, and it will talk all about the beast we (fans that have read the books) know he is :P Seriously, I can already say damn good job, this looks very well organized, and I can tell you put alot of effort into it.THIS, is what I believe should earn somebody some *Reconnassiance Armor. *Recon(+Spelling Errors)

 •
Posted by: Rammal94 Very good script. Didn't quite understand the ending (Although I think in the books they use the NOVA to blow up like 500 covenant ships. Not sure.) but it was very entertaining.
In the ending the Spartans brought the NOVA aboard the Sublime Transcendance (we never learn how it got there in Ghosts of Onyx, so I took a shot at one possibility). • Very good script. Didn't quite understand the ending (Although I think in the books they use the NOVA to blow up like 500 covenant ships. Not sure.) but it was very entertaining.

 • Cheehwawa, that was f#@&in awesome. I read the whole thing in 3 hours it was so awesome. I hope they make a Halo 3 sequel so you can make an epic story. [Edited on 07.31.2009 6:31 PM PDT]

My Dante was named so because the descent into the Forerunner facility mirrors Dante's descent into Hell, guided by Virgil (i.e. Guardian = Virgil, and "Welcome to Dis!" refers to the city of the dead in Inferno).
oh I thought your were naming them after poets, it seem to fit a bit

 •
Posted by: penguin *cringes at Halo 3's "To war!"*
Amen to that. For all that I like in Halo 3, that little gem from Miranda is just plain awful.

 •
Posted by: MLG Cheehwawa Thanks for all the editing help, Jacob, I went through and fixed the grammatical errors. Glad you enjoyed the script... I just love to put the stuff from my imagination into words. I'm working on the sequal now, so you're sure to see some returning characters as well as some new Covenant-Covenant relations... these not so hospitable.
Cool. I'll clean up all your messes for that one too when it's finished.

 • I forgot to write that i love the way you show family. The way Xytan and Raum are shown is great because it shows that the Covenant aren't just heartless bastards, they actually have feelings and can love.
