MLG Cheehwawa's ** Halo REACH script ** (+REACH 2 preview!)

Halo: REACH by MLG Cheehwawa *** // PLEASE POST YOUR THOUGHTS TO KEEP THIS THREAD ALIVE. A LOT OF WORK WENT INTO IMAGINING, RESEARCHING, WRITING, AND EDITING THIS... ALL DONE BY ME. THANKS! \\ *** ** Moderator-approved ** DISCLAIMERS This is entirely my creation (I have borrowed lines directly from some novels to tie this in with the existing canon); I have no affiliation with Bungie studios and do not claim to know what Halo REACH will be about. This is my idea for what REACH would be like if I were the writer on the project. A lot of this has been crafted by me, and not taken directly from the Halo canon (namely characters, locations, battles, and ships), but to the best of my knowledge, it does not conflict with the canon at all. If it does, let me know so I can tweak it. The numbering question: Sierra-259 and Sierra-320 have call-signs above 150, the original number of Spartan-II candidates. My explanation for this is that there was a large pool of children surveyed (at least 320). Then of those, 150 of the best were selected, and of those, only 75 were conscripted due to budget limitations. The script is all complete and posted. This is definitely not the end of the story, though. I have designed this to be a trilogy of games. I'm working on the first sequal now, which will run parallel with the beginning of Halo 2 and some of Ghosts of Onyx, but it will be a new story like with my first script. Halo REACH 2 will show us numerous things which Bungie hasn't told us about, that you will find out as I post. I don't know how fast I will be able to get the sequal done, though I already have the backbone for the first and second sequals, as well as the first cinematic (Harbinger), as well as about half of the first mission, for REACH 2. I'm starting at a full time job tomorrow and another semester at college late this month. I will get this done as fast as possible. IF YOU DO NOT WANT MY STORY SPOILED, I SUGGEST YOU AVOID THE BESTIARUM AND DRAMATIS PERSONAE UNTIL SOMETHING IN THE STORY CONFUSES YOU. Otherwise you may know how the story ends before you even begin. I write this for three reasons: 1. Because I love the Halo Universe. 2. I am the writer for a small game developing studio. This is good practice for my current and future work. 3. To share my story; a lot of effort went into this, so please give it a read and leave some feedback if you have the time. I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I enjoyed researching and writing it. Halo REACH
0: Introduction (this!) I: Dramatis personae (Part 1) II: Bestiarum (Part 1 ll Part 2) III: The Pillar of Autumn (Part 1 ll Part 2) IV: Reach (Part 1 ll Part 2) V: The Grid (Part 1 ll Part 2) VI: The Divine Retribution (Part 1 ll Part 2 ll Part 3) VII: Camp Independence (Part 1 ll Part 2 ll Part 3) VIII: Ruins (Part 1 ll Part 2 ll Part 3) IX: Graves (Part 1 ll Part 2 ll Part 3 ll Part 4 ll Part 5) X: Asterion (Part 1 ll Part 2) XI: Pathways (Part 1 ll Part 2) XII: Revalation (Part 1 ll Part 2 ll Part 3) XIII: Ghosts of Reach (Part 1 ll Part 2 ll Part 3) XIV: Credits (Part 1) XV: Legendary Ending (Part 1)
Halo REACH 2 (preview)
Harbinger: (Part 1 ll Part 2) Notes (Part 1 ll Part 2) [Edited on 08.30.2009 6:52 PM PDT]

 • Well that was a great story. The best part is it brings up the point we could possibly see Flood, Sentinels and Brutes in the actual game. [Edited on 06.21.2009 10:21 PM PDT]

 • Raum got pwned: Medium, angled up: interior of the Core room; the Gravemind stops wriggling, apparently due to the shock of something. A white light shines at the center of it, first small, and then it quickly expands. The Flood all around it all stop what they're doing, and they look up at the Gravemind. It explodes. Blinding white light fills the Core room. Close: RAUM 'Jar Wattinree stands dumbstruck as the light consumes him. Medium, tracking: Follow the white light of the FURY as it sweeps through the installation, up through the elevator chamber, into Dis, funnelling into the Crypt and out the hole in the top of the dome, exploding outwards in a massive expulsion of stone, mud, and bodies. He was in the Core searching for "the Oracle" (the Core Construct, where IMPERIOUS was) because the ship's Luminary detected a Forerunner A.I. on the world in the first cinematic. EDIT: I added more details to his demise since it was just one line and easy to miss. [Edited on 06.21.2009 8:19 PM PDT]

 •
Legendary Ending
Fade in from black. 0031 Hours, September 7, 2552, Epsilon Eridani System, Planet Reach, Highland Mountains, Mount Menachite, inside a second Unidentified Alien Structure Medium: Five Seven-foot-tall Spartans, these all in identical Mk V armor, crowd around a golden pedestal, which looks similar to the one encountered by S259 and his Betas. With the Spartans is a female wearing a lab coat: Dr. Catherine Halsey. They are located in what seems to be a smaller and enclosed version of "the Core" from the previous mission "Revelation." This pedestal is noticably smaller than the one under Asterion. Above the pedestal hovers a fist-sized crystal, tapered to a point at each end, glowing sapphire-blue. Extreme close: focus on the crystal as facets along its center-line shift around like a puzzle. HALSEY's hand reaches for the crystal, and she grabs it. The crystal dims. She pulls it off of the pedestal. Close: the crystal in her hand now flares red. The Spartans' shields shimmer, then return to normal. S104: Radiation spike. Analysis says lots of neutrinos, but I'm unable to determine the type-- it's something not in the computer's database. HALSEY peers into the crystal as it returns to its sapphire-blue color. HALSEY: Is it safe now? S104: Seems so. But Doc-- Extreme Close: focus on HALSEY's face as she interrupts S104: HALSEY: No time for debate. Neutrino radiation will penetrate the rock between us and the surface. Extreme Close: Focus on S087 as she speaks. S087: They'll be able to get a fix on our position. All they need is three ships to triangulate. We need to get out of here-- fast. Close: focus on the group entire, clustered closely together. S039: Which way? Back the way we came, or deeper in? S104: There's no way out from the titanium mines under Menachite Mountain. So we go deeper. An explosion rocks above, deep thunder rumbling. Instead of getting quieter, it grows exponentially louder. The Spartans shield HALSEY and turn to the ceiling. Medium: the Spartans, now looking up, notice the source of the noise. Their shadows lengthen as white light shines into the room as the holograms above shimmer brightly, then fail. S104 spins HALSEY around so that she faces away from the blinding light. Medium, angle up: an orange splotch appears on the ceiling of the dome. Close: focus on the orange splotch. The stone ceiling melts and peels back as if it were thin plastic hit by a blowtorch. A lance of plasma shines through. Long: focus on the Spartans looking on as the plasma torpedo splashes across the ground five hundred meters from their position. Close: focus on the group of humans. HALSEY: What was-- S104 interrupts her. S104: Energy projector. Only the big Covenant ships have them. There's got to be one of them-- S104 stops when the shaft fills with bright purple light, sparkling and shimmering across the cloud of dust. S104: Grav lift incoming! Isaac and Vinh, take our six. Will, you're with me on Doctor Halsey. Kelly, find us a way out. Now! The Spartans all go their separate ways. Extreme Close: focus on S104 as he looks at the lift as a dozen figures float down. Cut to black. Medium, tracking: focus on the gravity lift. A dozen Elites float down, one of them standing two heads taller than the others, and clad in silver armor. The Elites land at the bottom of the gravity lift, in a fifteen meter deep ditch created by the plasma lance. Close: focus on the Elites as they stand under the crater. Tracer rounds from the Spartans fly over head. The massive alien speaks to the others, all with their attention on him. XYTAN: Brothers! Hope is not lost! The Elites grunt in approval. XYTAN: The Demons ahead are in posession of the Shard of the Oracle! Take them alive! The Elites all roar in approval, and then move to walk up the edge of the crater. Medium: the Elites climb up the side of the crater, led by XYTAN in the front. They start to rush across the greay floor, dodging and shrugging off human projectiles. They activate their energy swords. Close, angle up: focus on XYTAN's face as he runs for the Spartans. Behind the Elites, a dozen more Covenant warriors and a Shade turret lower down. A slow and heavy drumbeat should begin now, the only noise besides the orchestra of combat. XYTAN snarls, then roars angrily. Cut to black. The drumbeat continues for three more beats after the screen goes black, now the only noise, and then it stops abruptly. [Edited on 06.21.2009 3:43 PM PDT]

The white light explodes out of the dome and the entrance structure simultaneously. The blue-waver of the EMP rushes out after the destructive light; the Covenant cruisers high above are disabled and tumble down to the surface. They explode in a series of massive fusion-overloads, effectively glassing that portion of the planet, and the Flood outbreak. Long, tracking: the EMP sweeps through the sky toward the player. As it sweeps past air vehicles, they collapse, and explode on the ground, vaporizing the drivers. The EMP approaches the Pelican. Close: interior of the Pelican. S066 stands near the back of the Pelican, his rocket trained outwards, but not firing. He strains his eyes to see the shimmer of the racing Electromagnetic Pulse wave. He throws his head back towards the cockpit and calls out: S066: EMP wave approaching! S259 (COM): Hold on, Spartans. Long, tracking: exterior of the Pelican. The blue-shimmer of the EMP wave can be seen shooting past the Pelican, and it reaches the SUBLIME TRANSCENDENCE, which turns left and scrapes into the ground. All around the Pelican, the bulky Covenant vehicles, their engines now fried, tumble out of the sky like rocks. The Pelican glides on its stubby wings toward the SUBLIME TRANSCENDENCE, which has come to a halt, its shields shimmering and popping out of existence. Extreme Close: focus on the pair of hands as S259 and RAWLEY shake hands for the last time. Close, tracking: S259 steps out of RAWLEY's way. RAWLEY steps off of the Pelican, and toward the collapsed pass. Close: interior of the Pelican, SILVA stands up from his seat and moves to stand near S259, and look at RAWLEY. SILVA: Hey Rawley! Close: focus on RAWLEY as he turns around. RAWLEY: Yeah? Close: interior Pelican, SILVA stands near the SPARTANs. He looks at his men, sitting on the seats behind him. They all nod. SILVA: We're coming with you. Extreme Close: focus on SILVA's face as he looks at S259. He remains silent for a moment, then speaks: SILVA: We'd only get in your way. My brother always taught me to hate your kind, but you've shown me just how human a Spartan can be. Thank you. SILVA glances back toward the other Spartans Close: interior of Pelican, focus on the Spartans as they sit in their seats as SILVA speaks. They watch him silently. SILVA: All of you. Close: focus on SILVA as he hefts a pack of explosive charges. SILVA: Besides, I don't think Rawley's getting anywhere without this. SILVA gestures toward the blocked pass. Close: focus on S259, who looks down at SILVA as he speaks: S259: Good luck, soldier. Extreme Close: focus on SILVA's face as he speaks: SILVA: You too, Spartan. { he stands for a moment, staring into S259's polarized faceplate, then speaks. } You know... us ODSTs { he gestures toward his men. } were trained to drop into hell... { he grins. } You Spartans were trained to climb back out. SILVA puts on his helmet, and seals it. Close: SILVA nods once at S259, helmet-to-helmet, and then glances back at his ODSTs. They stand and start towards him. SILVA hops out of the Pelican. Close, tracking: The ODSTs move to the back of the Pelican, nodding in approval to the Spartans, and then pile out of the back of the Pelican. They all walk towards RAWLEY. Medium: The ODSTs clasp RAWLEY on the back, and they walk towards the blocked pass. RAWLEY turns and yells back at the Pelican. RAWLEY: Treat her good, Spartan! Extreme Close: focus on S259's faceplate as he responds: S259: Will do, Rawley. Fade in to first person. The player takes control now. S259 stands inside of the Pelican, his Spartans in their seats. They see that the ODSTs left anti-vehicle weapons (Rockets, Gauss Rifles, Turrets) inside of the cockpit, apparently for the Spartans. "FLIGHT PLAN" The Betas now heft these weapons as S259 can press (RB) to enter the Pelican cockpit. The Pelican handles similarly to the Banshee, but is has no boost function. Instead of boost, it has flaps which allow for quicker turning (but diminished forward speed) similar to a warthog's E-Brake. Unlike a Warthog, the Pelican's "E-Brake" works left and right, and up and down. The Player should exit the valley and fly over the lake, toward a lone Covenant ship, moving away from Asterion Mountain. A navpoint marks the Covenant ship, THE SUBLIME TRANSCENDENCE. This is an aerial mission, so the play-field will be limited left and right for processing power. The main opponents in this section are Covenant aerial vehicles (Banshees and Seraphs) flown by Elites. Some of the Banshees are flown by Flood, so there is a three-way-battle going on in the skies. The Pelican employs a chin-mountain chain gun, ANVIL-II missile launchers, as well as a pair of Gauss cannons synced up to the firing controls. If a craft approaches from the rear, the Pelican's rear-mounted turret is manned by a Spartan, and the others wield Rockets and other anti-vehicle weapons. When you near the Covenant cruiser, S066 reports: S066: Sir, the FURY is set to blow. A new navpoint marks a point high in the sky. You must climb extremely high, nearly vertically, to reach it. When you finally pass it, a cinematic occurs. [Edited on 06.22.2009 8:01 AM PDT]

Focus on his golden faceplate. Fade in to first person. The player takes control now. The screen is very blurry, and a COM transmission comes in, sounding extremely distant. RAWLEY (COM): Sierra-259, do you read me? The Spartans around S259 begin to stir, and the COM transmission comes in more clearly now, and S259's vision returns to normal. RAWLEY (COM): Sierra-259, do you copy? S259: I copy, Rawley. RAWLEY (COM): We lost your signal when you entered that structure. See you soon, Spartan. The player and his Spartans are located in a small gulley. Outside and all around them, a battle ensues. Covenant fighting Flood fighting Sentinels. And then you emerge. The snowy landscape immediately surrounding the now-ruined Mount Asterion has melted due to heavy Plasma bombardment by the Covenant. A brown and muddy slush is the final resting place of hundreds of fallen warriors, Flood, and machines. The slush extends for about three hundred meters, reaching into the center of the Covenant camp. At the end of the muck, a swift-flowing melt-water river separates the slush from the fluffy snow beyond, red with blood. Immediately outside of the gulley, Covenant battle Flood in Ghosts, Choppers, and Spectres near a large crater, freshly-covered by snow. Past this is a plain bearing a pair of Wraith tanks surrounded by Covenant infantry; the Flood have not yet reached them. Beyond this plain is a brief drop-off and then a network of tunnels which all meet in another plain, this one covered by ice, guarded by a phalanx of Jackals. An avalanche forms a make-shift ramp up to a cliff above, to a large valley where the majority of the Covenant has made camp. The route to the motor pool has been made inaccessible by another nearby avalanche. In the camp-valley, Covenant and Flood battle furiously. At the far end two Wraiths and an Anti-Air Wraith stand sentry. A pair of Hunters and numerous Covenant infantry surrounds these Wraiths. A pair of massive Hunters, called Behemoths, move out into the field between the Wraiths and the Spartans. A wide-and-short plateau sits in the center of the field, providing some cover from mortar fire, but also offering Jackal snipers a great spot to set up shop. The top of the plateau can be accessed by Banshee or by a tunnel drilled by the Covenant's plasma weaponry. On the left side of the plain is a large cave with a cache of weapons. On the right is a thicket of snow-coated fir trees. Past the Wraiths, a small pass leads to a small valley behind the large one, also occupied by numerous Covenant and Flood. The enemies here are far less numerous, so S066 sets some charges on the pass, collapsing it behind them. S259: Rawley, we've got an LZ. Doing a little clean-up. RAWLEY (COM): Affirmative, Sierra-257, Rawley inbound. This valley's cliff-sides taper down to just ten meters high, butting directly against a massive lake beyond, effectively stranding the Spartans in here. Numerous vehicles are in this area, including one Flood Juggernaut, that torments the Covenant. After clearing the enemies from this valley, RAWLEY can start his approach. Close, angled up: The Spartans look up as RAWLEY's Pelican begins making its descent. [Edited on 06.21.2009 10:20 AM PDT]

To do this, approach the Sentinel's ruined head and hold (RB). S259 will tear the weapon away from its host, and wield it like a support gun. Should you leave the immediate vicinity of the weapon without acquiring it, a navpoint will locate it on your HUD, since it is an essential tool in the upcoming conflict. You can continue to the center of the Core. The duel with IMPERIOUS occurred on the edge of the Core, which has an eight hundred meter radius. The Core level is an anomaly: it slopes downward slightly toward the center of the room, which is occupied by a large, grotesque, shadow. As you approach closer to the center of the Core, the light in front of you visor shimmers, dancing around tantalizingly, apparently due to some sort of spatial displacement caused by the Core construct. Flood and Covenant occupy the Core, serving to slow your progress. The Guardian Sentinel Cannon has three firing modes, and infinite ammunition, but a quick overheat time. The destructive charged laser can kill most enemies in one hit (taking the infamous Flood Juggernaut out in two-three). The identity of the shadow is identified in the center of the room: a colossal, wriggling, mass of flesh, bone, and metal, towering nearly one hundred and fifty meters high and sprawling nearly three hundred wide. It is a Proto-Gravemind, Hive mind of the Flood. Medium: The Spartans stand like ants beneath the massive Gravemind. Sentinels swarm about the mass, vaporizing portions from the top, and Flood drag bodies to the bottom which are promptly absorbed. S259: What... is... that? GUARDIAN: Oh my! It appears-- { pausing to look over stored data. } Yes, it appears that this is a Flood Hive Mind! S259: Is it a threat? GUARDIAN: Allow me to-- { pausing to look over stored data. } My databanks do not say. This specimen seems to be much smaller than the one which led the Flood against my Makers. S259: Well I think we're goi-- S259 is cut off by a massive tentacle, swinging down from the Proto-Gravemind, impacting the ground with a loud thump. The Spartans dodge to the side. Close: S066 gestures toward the Guardian Sentinel Beam in S259's hands. S066: Time to cut this bugger down to size. The player takes control again. The Spartans need to work their way closer to the Proto-Gravemind, fighting off Covenant and Flood, with Sentinels serving as extra guns, though they do not go out of their way to help. Noticing the Sentinels' inaction, GUARDIAN speaks to S259: GUARDIAN: Imperious was not destroyed with his Sentinel. His core components still reside in the construct. We must expose the Core. S259: Aren't we in 'the Core'? GUARDIAN: { frustrated } Yes, Reclaimer. But you must first expose the Core construct. Use the Cannon, the Gravemind has built itself around it. The player should employ the Guardian Sentinel Cannon's charged laser to blast away parts of the Gravemind near its base. GUARDIAN will mark the vulnerable spot with a navpoint. Butchering a large tunnel through the Gravemind, and avoiding its sluggish attacks (or destroying its tentacles), you manage to expose the Core construct. It is a two meter-high cylindrical pedestal, with a claw-like triple-pronged metal clasping a bulging sphere which looks similar to a basket-ball sized, golden eye of a fly. This is the Core construct, the data center of Imperious. GUARDIAN: Quick! Destroy it before Imperious retreats to the Core back-up facility! One blast from the Guardian Cannon will suffice to destroy the crystalline sphere. Close: the Spartans stand on the ruins of the Core construct. GUARDIAN: Splendid! Now on to priority-B, the eradication of the Flood in this Construct. Allow me to review the-- { he pauses as S066 hefts a football sized metal object } Oh my. S259: That good enough? GUARDIAN: { pausing to scan the schematics of the FURY tactical nuke } It will suffice. Hurry, Reclaimers, we must evacuate the Core! S066 bends down, deploys the FURY, and activates the countdown timer. He stands back up. S259: Let's get out of here. The player takes control again: fight your way back out of the laser-generated tunnel, and into the Core room. Covenant and Flood fight more furiously now, the Flood noticably less organized than before. Long, tracking: a squadron of Mounts swoop down from the air, towards the Spartans. Medium: The Mounts reach the Spartans, and hover in front of them, a meter above the ground. S066: So we're friends again? GUARDIAN: All traces of Imperious are absent from this Construct. The Sentinels are under my command. Long, angled up: The Spartans look up at the Proto-Gravemind. The Hive mind, now absent the knowledge of IMPERIOUS, begins flailing in outrage, smashing its tentacles about. Medium: The Spartans turn back toward the Mounts. S320 glances at S259, and speaks: S320: We should go. Medium: The Spartans board the Sentinel Mounts, which turn to fly upwards. The Spartans, on their Mounts (which the player controls), fly up and out of the Core, through criss-crossing infantry weapons fire, as well as trailing Covenant aerial vehicles. Though the Mounts possess no weaponry of their own, S259 can mount the Guardian Sentinel Cannon on the front to use. He can cycle between that gun and a handheld weapon by tapping (Y), and he can use any of his handheld weapons drive-by style in a 180 degree arc. The Spartans fly up into the elevator shaft, and then into the Covenant gravity lift which sits on the ring which surrounded the elevator plain. The gravity lift is pushing down, so it is best to stay out of its field until you reach the hole in the ceiling. You fly up and out of the dome, to realize that half of Asterion Mountain has been decimated, revealing most of the dome to the open air. Medium, tracking: the camera tracks the Spartans as they fly over the ground on their Mounts now. Close: a large contingent of Covenant Jackals stands on a cliff edge, shooting at enemies all over with their Beam Rifles. One turns to witness the Mounts, with Spartans atop, flying towards them. The Jackal points at the distant Spartans, squawks and order, and the Jackals take aim, and begin firing unstopped at the Mounts. Close: focus on the Mounts. Beam Rifle shots tear apart S259's weapon-less Sentinel. Medium, tracking: all of the Spartans' Mounts turn their "noses" upward to protect the passengers from the Beam Rifle fire, and they are disabled. The 5 Mounts go tumbling end over end into the ground, ejecting their passengers into a small gulley. Cut to Black. NEXT CHAPTER: Ghosts of Reach [Edited on 06.21.2009 3:10 PM PDT]

IMPERIOUS. Close: focus on IMPERIOUS as he floats down toward the Spartans. His eye glows crimson, unlike the blue of when the Sentinel was controlled by Guardian. IMPERIOUS: Turn back now, Reclaimers. This is not your place. Close, rotating: the camera starts infront of S259 as he speaks, and slowly rotates around, displaying him looking fearlessly at IMPERIOUS. S259: We're going to the Core. With or without your permission. Sentinels move to flank IMPERIOUS. IMPERIOUS: You will perish. Like the Forerunner. Join my Makers! The Sentinels do not move from their position, nor do they take action against the Spartans. GUARDIAN: Have you forgotten Protocol, Imperious? IMPERIOUS reels backwards, his eye flaring. IMPERIOUS: You insolent fool! I will destroy you! GUARDIAN: The Sentinels will not harm me. Even you cannot sway them. Medium: focus on IMPERIOUS as it displays his numerous mechanical arms, and destroys the Sentinels flanking him effortlessly, their flaming carapaces tumblingy wildly into the smoggy ground. He stills himself, and then speaks: IMPERIOUS: Very well. I do not need them. IMPERIOUS' central eye glows bright now, and it fires a lightning-like blast into the Spartans, downing their shields. Fade in to first person. The player takes control again. The massive Sentinel's blast has depleted the Spartans' shields. IMPERIOUS rushes the Spartans. Its central eye serves as a weapon with numerous firing modes. One has already been felt; a torrent of lightning-like bolts which drain shields, but don't do much else. Another unleashes an unhalting, red-orange, beam similar to a Sentinel Beam's, only much more powerful. Its third and strongest attack is similar to the Onyx Sentinel's blast: the central eye charges up for three seconds and then fires a devastating pulse-beam. It has a melee attack similar to the Enforcer's: it swoops over a victim, descends rapidly, and uses its numerous arms to melee. The Guardian Sentinel has an energy shield, though it is more in line with a Covenant ship's, and nearly impervious. The trick to damaging it effectively is to wait until it fires. When Imperious fires, he has to drop his shields (like a Covenant ship), leaving himself vulnerable. The weakest point is the central eye, though his arms can also be shot off to negate his melee attack. After defeating IMPERIOUS, the Sentinel crashes into the ground, wrecked and mangled, but does not explode. Close: focus on S259 as he walks toward the wreckage. He points toward the eye. S259: Can we use it? GUARDIAN: Yes. We will need it to expose the Core. [Edited on 06.20.2009 10:27 PM PDT]

GUARDIAN sighs. GUARDIAN: My apologies, Reclaimer. Imperious and I were once one being. But recently he has been... different. S259: How so? GUARDIAN: He was performing according to parameters until just a few cycles prior to this moment, and then he released the Flood. They consumed my Makers! S259: 'The Crypt'... GUARDIAN: Yes! S259: Why didn't you say anything before? GUARDIAN replies in a puzzled voice: GUARDIAN: Protocol dictates that if the Core is threatened, all other matters are secondary. S259: What exactly is happening in 'the Core'? GUARDIAN remains silent for a moment, and then replies: GUARDIAN: I-I'm not sure. Imperious quarantined me from the Core network simultaneous with his release of The Flood. S259: 'Not sure'? Well then let's go find out. Fade in to first person. The player takes control again. GUARDIAN: I will guide you. The Spartans enter a small room joined to the Terminal platform, and activate an elevator. They plummet down about thirty meters, and they are now on a large box-shaped structure which stands sentry over the elevator platform. The Covenant are rapidly moving off of the elevator below, and down the first massive ramp, to secure the facility. They move on command of Raum 'Jar Wattinree, leader of the excavation force. The Spartans can alert the Covenant and begin firing on them, or they can continue down a massive ramp, ending at the elevator level. Here they are forced to fight the Covenant, as they now take notice of the armor-clad humans. The Spartans can stay and confront the massive force, or then can hurry down another massive ramp, leading to a lower ring-shaped level. There is another ramp on this floor, leading down another level, each different ring getting subsequently wider with the addition of a new ramp, similar to an upside down, stepped, ice cream cone. On the second ramp the player will encounter Sentinels. Medium: focus on the Spartans snap to a firing position, aiming at the hovering Sentinels. GUARDIAN: Stop! They will not harm you as long as you are with me! S259: But Imperious... GUARDIAN: He cannot taint the Sentinels. A security measure put in place by my Makers. Fade in to first person. The Spartans continue down the ramp, fighting Flood and Covenant (including a pair of Banshees) on the second level, reaching a third ramp, a third level, a fourth ramp, a fourth level, and finally a fifth ramp. At the bottom of this ramp is The Core, a circular room almost the same circumference of Dis entire, with a radius of eight hundred meters. The room, unlike the ramp-facility above, is draped in a thin layer of green fog, hugging the ground closely. The 'ceiling' -- actually the bottom of the elevator -- of this room is roughly twelve hundred meters above. The ramp-facility which the Spartans just traversed is now alive with combat; Covenant, Sentinels, and Flood locked in a brutal conflict. Plasma and Lasers shoot across the open-air separating one side of the ringed levels from the other. An ear-splitting, mechanical screech drowns out the sounds of combat. • dude seriously good stuff, nice to see you worked closely with canon. if i were you, i would ditch the current company you work with and apply to bungie, they always like to state that theyre hiring, theyll probably take you without an interview. you might as well work with something you love, and by the looks of it, you love halo.

 • This Silva is his younger brother, who was stranded on Reach with RAWLEY (and separated from him) and the PoA left without him. Glad you like it =)

 • From what i've read, this is very very good. This has the potential to be an awesome game by itself. But there's one thing I don't get... is the Major Silva guy the same Major Silva in Halo: The Flood? if so, then he shouldn't be in the story, as he's on his way to the first Halo ring with the Pillar of Autumn. But whatever, it's still a great script, I've enjoyed it so far, and I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

 •
Pathways (Part 1 ll Part 2)
Fade in to first person. "THE FLOOD" The player takes control again. The massive room is shaped like an elongated cube, about the size of the Halo: Combat Evolved map Hang 'Em High, with a trench running down the center leading from the entrance to the other side. The trench is about two meters high, and five meters wide, with ramps leading up to the main level of the room. There are four rises in the room, one in each corner. There are six rectangular doorways around the room, two on the distant wall, two on the left wall, and two on the right. The doorways hiss open, and moments later hideous figures throw themselves out from the openings. They are green-yellow in color, about six feet tall, with flailing tentacles and spiked "hands." Flood Pure Form "Runners" (invented by me) created from the flesh and bone of corpses, like other Pure Forms. The Spartans are trapped within the massive room, and need to fight these Flood forms which throw themselves wildly at the Spartans' defensive formation, attempting to overwhelm them with numbers. The room is populated by numerous rises which can be used to gain a height advantage, and a shallow trench runs through the center of the room which can be used to gain a brief respite from the onslaught. The small rooms which held the Pure Forms can also be used as hold outs to bottleneck the assaulting space-zombies. Eventually the Spartans can make their way back to the entrance doorway and open it. The rooms which they passed through before are now all inhabited by Flood Pure Forms, some of them inhabited by Sentinels as well, both of which will target the player. The Spartans battle their way back out of the research structure, to the surface, at Dis. They lock the palm-keyed door behind them, and turn to the city. Medium: focus on the Spartans as they look out on Dis, now alive with movement. Flood Pure Forms battle with Sentinels of all types. In the distance, off-center in the ceiling of the dome, the grey metal glows a dull red. Close: focus on the glowing portion of the dome ceiling. It turns to orange, then yellow, then white-hot. The Forerunner metal around this incision explodes outwards, showering the city with flaring globs of metal. Sunlight shines through. S320: More company! Close: focus on the Spartans as they turn just in time to catch a glimpse of a massive figure hurtling towards them. They dive out of the way. It smashes into the ground where they just were, scraping across the impervious Forerunner metal. The Spartans stand, and back away from the massive Flood Pure Form. "JUGGERNAUT" Fade in to first person. The player takes control again. They need to fight the massive Flood Juggernaut, which stands about fifteen feet (five meters) tall. You can kill the beast with brute force in the form of firearms, but the easiest way to kill it is to lure it to the nearby cliff edge which drops off over the second tier of the city, laying about two hundred meters below. The fall will kill it. After killing the Juggernaut, continue to an elevator which runs from the first tier down to the one below. All around, the Sentinels battle the Covenant, and an anti-gravity lift descends through the hole in the dome ceiling, and hordes of Covenant pour through. They lower down to the central tier, lower than the rest, which is just a flat plain. IMPERIOUS and GUARDIAN speak through massive overhead speakers, their voices carrying through the entire dome. IMPERIOUS: You cannot resist, Guardian. You are too weak. Accept our new alliance. GUARDIAN: You betray the Makers! IMPERIOUS: They have betrayed us already. Confined us to toil away for eons within these subterranean Crypts. They worked so hard to protect barbaric life forms, yet they did nothing for us! GUARDIAN: They did everything for us, for the entire Galaxy! You are Infecte-- IMPERIOUS blocks out GUARDIAN's speech capability, interrupting him. IMPERIOUS: Silence. The Core will remain intact. You will perish. Now about halfway down the lift, the Spartans observe the Sentinels, Covenant, and Flood battling eachother. The Covenant mass on the central plain, but some bring vehicles into the third tier, apparently looking for something. S145: What do we do? S098: I say we follow { she points to the Covenant at the central platform. } them. S320: Looks like they're waiting. S066: For what? S259: Let's go find out. The elevator has now reached the second tier. The Spartans step off, and fight through the winding streets of Dis. They fight through alleys host to Sentinels battling Covenant, they enter a large building which leads upwards into a tram-type-lift, which brings them across most of this tier. Below them the battle still rages, and any enemy capable of flight will attempt to kill the Spartans as they are transported through the air. The tram reaches the edge of the second tier, and then it turns into an elevator, lowering directly down. Now Covenant banshees and drones join in the fight, attacking the descending Spartans. When they get to the bottom, the third tier, Covenant infantry has pierced into the city and now the fight is even more hectic. This lower tier slants gradually lower into the central plain, on which the majority of the Covenant wait. While fighting, the Covenant NPCs reveal that they are looking for the controls to "the Lift" so that they may reach "the Oracle below" in their standard combat dialogue. Fight to the lift, which is flanked by four evenly-spaced massive pyramid-like structures which offer great vantage points for the player. Past the pyramids, the Spartans fight through the myriads of Covenant waiting for them. The plain is covered in large geometric patterns, etchings of some sort, which lead about in a strange maze to the center of the facility, similar to a whirlwind. As the Spartans step onto the plain, it evolves into something else; the etchings extend upwards into a disconnected labyrinth leading to the center of the plain. In the center the Spartans come to a meter-high ring-shaped wall, with enough room within for ten spartans to stand comfortably. The floor within is marked with glowing glyphs, emitting a soft white light, while the rest of the plain does not. The Spartans battle through the maze of Covenant, Sentinels, and Flood, and reach the center. They reach the center, and press (RB) to vault the wall. Close: focus on the Spartans within the meter-high ring-wall. The wall quickly shoots upwards, extending three times its height. The bare walls suddenly sprout white glyphs, which begin to glow bright white. The Spartans frantically look around, since they can't get out now. The camera glows bright white as the light emitted from the glyphs pool together. Long: focus on the center of Dis, from afar. On the central plain, the labyrinth-like cover melts back into the floor. The bright white light from the center shoots upwards, splashing across the dome ceiling, and scattering into something which resembles a soft blue sky, possibly a type of hologram. On the plain, the Covenant push away from the center ring structure, but remain on the lift. A loud clank precedes a lurching motion of the plain... it's an elevator. Medium: The lift begins to slowly move down. Fade to black. NEXT CHAPTER: Revalation [Edited on 06.20.2009 10:29 PM PDT]
