Summer Mythic Recon Challenge

Okay, I just submitted my "Ark" run. (WOOHOO!!!) I was wondering if time has run out to send it in. Tyrant said Friday was the deadline, but never says what time. It is 11:38 Central time right now. I hope so because I finally just finished it. It took me all week and I hope it is not eligible because it is an hour late or something

I had one of my runs where I disconnected and reconnected halfway through show up, and I've had another run where I was connected the whole time and it didn't show up (fortunately it was just Floodgate, so I wasn't too upset about redoing it).

Okay I have a question... The rules state that you have to do the mission over xbox live so that it shows up in your history. Will it still show up if you are on xbox live, get disconnected, reconnect, and then finish the mission? This has not happened to me, but I just want to make sure if it does.

I figured there was some ammo somewhere, didn't even think to check that building. Regardless, I end up having a full Carbine anyway; I tend to use the BR more since there's lots of ammo on the way to the tanks. Maybe now I'll tote along the Sniper Rifle, since there's plenty of ammo for that too, and it would make clearing the AA wraith area much easier. Oh and I need the Carbine for the plasma turret cheiftain, since apparently I'm too inept to plasma-stun assassinate him. -.-

I've already given up on the contest but I'm going to try and beat this level to get on the list. Can anyone give me some tips on killing the scarab and that area in general? That seems to be my stopping point. Also why do you need the carbine?

There is a full crate in that large semi-circular building with the huge ramp in the scarab area. Next to the Cartographer building. The Scarab walks past it and usually two FRG Grunts spawn there. The box is on the balcony at the back of the building facing the waterfall. I know you've done it now, but if you decide to do it again, or anyone reads this and wants to adopt your strategy, this is perhaps an easier place to pick one up. [Edited on 08.13.2009 6:47 PM PDT]

Wow killed again at the scarab by a fuel rod brute. I swear the marines suck so bad. two of my tanks die before the scarab even comes out. [Edited on 08.13.2009 3:15 PM PDT]

Doesn't look like I'll be making the challenge. I just got all the way up to the scarab area and I look down to check and see if the area was clear of wraiths and it is. I go to where it says to in the 1.0 video and out of no where a wraith mortar hits me. I might be able to finish it tomorrow because all up to that point I have everything down. Even if I don't make the competition I will be on the conquerors list if its the last thing I do.

Alright thanks man. I'll download the 2.0 method now. I still got two days, I know I can do it. But your right about the prowler thing. I actually managed to get 3 marines in it and they died after like 5 shots. I'll try again tomorrow.

Actually, if the marines die you can just adapt the 2.0 method. Pick up the RL, use the remaining rocket(s) on the enemy vehicles but DON'T DROP IT. Now use Plasma Pistols and BR/Carbine/sniper/whatever from the previous areas to clear out the choppers and ghosts. Once you have the vehicles taken care of, use a chopper or ghost (chopper, preferably) to take out the troops up on the hill, then grab the RL ammo from the crashed fighter. Continue on, take out the grunts at the downed pelican, but bring along at least one bubble shield (two, if you can manage to juggle one somehow). When you get to the ghosts, do exactly like Tyrant does in the 2.0 method, but you won't have marines showing up to help. Instead, be sure that the rocket HITS the ghosts. If it doesn't kill them, then get close enough to board one, then the other (alternatively, headshot the driver to take them out). After the ghosts, go back for the other bubble shield or regenerator, then do as tyrant does in 2.0 for the FRC brute part. Park the chopper and use your remaining rockets to take out the ghosts (again, you may have to board, or headshot, the occupants). Once the ghosts are down, just focus on taking out the jackals (except one, if it depletes its plasma pistol) and the FRC brute using the plasma pistols dropped by the ghost drivers and your br/carbine/sniper. Also mop up any grunts that may have survived the fight with the marines that were up ahead. At this point, if you haven't already, use that last "pet" jackal to recharge and go get that regenerator for a rainy day later. From here on out, the strategy is the same as before, just long-range chopper everything. Hope this helps, if you get in that situation again. I had to do the same thing a couple times. It seems like if you have TWO PASSENGERS in the prowler, instead of just one (I'm not counting the turret as a passenger) then they seem to die relatively quickly, so try to limit the number of marines you have with you in that vehicle to just the gunner and one passenger (which should have the RL, of course). And yea it seems like the first run of the day is always the best and I get so far and then the next run it keeps getting progressively worse. I got past the prowlers but my marines died and your automatically screwed there. I hope I can finish before friday.

First game that I got to the Prowlers I made it all the way to the Plasma Cannon Cheiftain at the very end. I'm sure you'll do just fine. Just remember to take it slow and be careful.
