TTK Could Have Been Much More

Don't get me wrong; I love The Taken King. A huge Dreadnaught ship, secret exotic missions, the most content we've had yet in Destiny yet, the awesome new subclasses. Bungie worked long and hard on The Taken King and it payed off. In my opinion, the 40 dollars is well worth it. But this is Oryx! In Vanilla Destiny we killed a Guardian of the Vault of Glass, and considering the Vex can send their kin in and out of time to spawn a million Atheon's, it didn't do much. We banished and killed a minor Hive God Crota, but considering Crota's rank and the countless other gods, that was only a very minor success. We made sure the rouge Wolf Kell Skolas didn't control the other Fallen Houses and gain control of Vex technology, but we managed to imprison him before that happened, so crisis averted. But this is Oryx! A major Hive God, the top of the food chain, and he's coming to avenge his son with a giant fleet of Hive Dreadnoughts and a whole new enemy race, The Taken. This is the first major conflict in the Destiny universe, the Comet, the expansion we've all been waiting for! And all Oryx manages to do is... kill the Queen, and... destroy a Cabal base? The rest of it is his lackeys and Echoes invading a planet every 10 minutes while Oryx waits for certain doom in his big-ass ship! Destiny: The Taken King could have been so much more... a full frontal assault on the Tower? A ravaged solar system, some areas completely altered after the events of Oryx's arrival? This brings me into the focal point of my argument: even after you kill Oryx, the world should be different. After you slay The Taken King, the aftermath of the choices you made and the struggle of Light should linger like a kidney stone that won't pass. The world needs to feel ravaged and clinging onto what's left of what Oryx took (no pun intended.) On Earth, the structures in the distance, even the Wall should look runned-down and at risk of collapsing. On the Moon, sections of the hyperlink should be collapsed and the Temple of Crota about to sink into the ground, and a considerable amount of foliage on Venus should be burnt to the ground. /rant And as a good way to finish the thread, what do you think the next DLC will be? Will we find the mysterious Norkis and the sister's of Oryx? Will we discover the Stranger's identity and motive, find Osiris and witness a rebound in Vex forces? Will Varkis find his new Kell or did the Cabal answer the plea of the Skyburners and are now after our throats? Tell me what you think. Have a great day, Guardians.

 • I'll get back to why you're wrong about previous encounters with endgame bosses, but this is year one. They can't physically alter the landscape every Damn year, if by year 3 everything is exactly the same I'll agree with you, but this is too soon to expect such. Atheon sits in the Vault of Glass, this is a converging point of every timeline, he is the pin that holds them together, Times Conflux. The Vex cannot just bring him back, nor can they bring several of him, for there was only him. The same can be said of the Templar. Crota wasn't a minor god whatsoever, he was Oryx's heir, the first born son, he was the "Eater of Hope" he literally ripped a hole in space time and the Vex flooded in. He was a major accomplishment. Oryx created the Hive, him along with his sister's, and any of their collective direct children should be considered the true Hive pantheon. The names we know are Oryx, Crota, Savathûn, Xiva (something like that), Ir Anuk and Ir Halak, and Nokris. There might even be more we don't know yet. Seeing as how it appears to draw on Greek mythos I'd say five more. Oryx=zues Crota=Ares Ir Anuk=Artemis Ir Halak=Apollo Norkis=Hepheastus Savathûn=Hades/Poseidon Xivq=Hades/Poseidon
this Lore-Spooking was brought to you by SpookyAnonPig
