Don't get me wrong, The Taken King looks like great value... But for those of us who haven't yet bought TTK, what is this paywall about? I logged in to explore 2.0, and was pretty disappointed.
Daily Heroics - Requires The Taken King
Nightfall - Requires The Taken King
Most Strike Playlists - Requires The Taken King
Most Crucible Modes - Requires The Taken King
More limiting dailies and weeklies. When they are available, they are usually TTK levels.
The latter two aren't completely gone for Legacy players, but they are now way more limiting.
Strike playlists used to be fun and available for players of all levels. With a level 34 character, my only option is a level 20 strike playlist now?
Separate Crucible modes were available for choosing. Now we get combined modes, so we have to deal with objective-less Clash mixed in with our beloved Control, etc. Why can't Destiny continue to offer all the Legacy Crucible modes as separate modes, detect if player is on a Legacy version, and throw them into Legacy map rotations with other Legacy players?
A player can still have fun bringing a new character up to level ~25 via story missions. However, higher level players in the 30's are having activites taken away for the sake of forcing TTK purchases. I understand dangling a carrot to encourage my purchase of TTK, but force my arm?
@Bungie @Activision @Deej @Cozmo ...Very disappointed in this business model. Please do not take away paying customers' playable activities.

Man I love destiny but I want to be able to play the game I paid for what really bums me is no trials for people who dont have TTK

You can file a complaint against Activision on the BBB website. I did because they took a product I paid $100 for that worked perfectly fine and made it have about as much content as a Demo in an attempt to force me to pay or GTFO.

Bungie doesn't care... Don't even try...
