Weekly What's Update
Nothing to write home about this week, but a few useful snippets nonetheless. We discuss a sad but small delay, the Halo 2 soundtrack, cheating (of course) and some impressions of the Xbox 360.

I have been looking at some mods and I would like to bring up the issue of variation in gameplay once more (grenades and melee damage recently). I am not a modder and disagree with it but it interests me because of some things I saw done with it. I was looking on halogt.com and I saw a jackal shield dual wielded, this is such a great idea, not only does it bring another dimension to the game but it also could be balanced, as only one other dual wielding weapon could be held at the same time, and the shield could be destoyed by a charged plasma shot say. Although bungie reputes that new 'weapons' cannot be added to the game, to me this seems a great idea. Even the idea of a fuel rod gun also makes sense, even if only for customs. This was also used in the mods and it didn't affect the frame rate whatsoever, I don't know if this relates to the xbox being altered but surely bungie could do something about the 'frame rate' if they took an interest, perhaps they could do it for free considering they're charging us for new maps. Just a few thoughts on weapons. P.S. is this where the questions for the bungie update come from? [Edited on 5/17/2005]

They use completely different hardware. Most console games are kinda like the Gentoo OS on the PC, they are VERY hardware specific. That's why the Xbox and other consoles are able to produce such damn fine games with very little power. The 360 has some impressive power, no doubt, but unless the games were made to be specific to both boxes, I don't see this happening.

The warthog respawns too quickly to -blam!- about it, and I've had a few moments already where I have to race the enemy flag to my base on foot, while they have our flag in a warthog, and I've BEAT THEM!!! The map is a LOT smaller than everyone thinks it is. What would a banshee or ghost add to the map? Two more people at their base in a matter of expediency, right? And what are they going to do? Sit in their -blam!- vehicles, exactly. Whereas having few vehicles promotes the use of the various tunnels in and out of the base, which is the main attraction to Containment, not giving the Scorpion more -blam!- to blow up.

Bungie feels that it disrupts weapon balance 2. It's a graphics HOG! The first is pretty much all I heard you on, but you made some good points. They should allow it for custom games. If it didn't kill Xboxes. Unfortunately, nobody but Bungie will know how severe that is. Since they developed the game, I'm going to take their word for it. Secondly, the shotgun does NOT SUCK. Trigger, melee, trigger, melee. When you're playing CTF or Assault defense, there are few quicker kills. Since the weapon balance update, it's only gotten better. Close-quarters fighting with the shotgun is hard to match, even with a sword. Having a shotgun on D on Coagulation when the rest of my team quit out on me was the only time in Halo 2 that I got a killimanjaro. It's a POWERFUL weapon, especially if you're the one getting the drop on people. They usually don't have time to react, I don't care what weapon they're using. If you can't snipe with it, don't snipe with it. Pretty freakin' simple.

Okay, Listen Xbox and Halo 2 are the 2 most awesome things in the entire world. Also, Foundation complainers I think the map is swesome it is sorta balanced and there are 2 rockets btw if you have a BR on the map rockets can easily be taken care of same with sword and turrent whores can be taken care of by picking up plasma nades from middle of map and sticking them you get a kill and a nifty little medal too. For people who hate sword whore as I do but I love the sword it is one of the coolest weapons on the map and most ppl love to have it in their hands anyway. You can take care of swords ppl by being a better Halo 2 player and learning how to deal with those ppl like i like the "n00b" combo it is effecient ,and most ppl who hate the n00b combo dont like it because they dont see how ppl can use it so well. If you dont want to have to pull up 20 kills more that you need to in a TS or DT have friends with you and make sure they're okay at the least because I hate playing a ranked match with my friend, who isnt very good, and have to get 35 kills in one match just to show the other team im worthy of their time. Well I just got to page four of this topic and I'm sure xbox360 is still being worked on to satisfy the consumer

In fact, they made little to no profit in Xbox sales. The point of the Xbox was to get a hold in the industry, so that when they made the next console, people knew they had what it took to get it done in the console business. The Xbox is old. People don't follow the same thinking that caused the video game crash in the early 80's. Consoles have to keep evolving, or the market will crawl to a stand-still. As far as good games are concerned, M$ has been making a HELL of a lot of new deals with game developers now for the 360. They were holding back on that as well for the next console. Everything they did when they released the Xbox was a pretense to the 360, when Microsoft would actually try to become #1. You watch, they're gonna do it. Because their market research is absolutely -blam!- ingenious.

You have not heard anything about bungie or halo because bungie is owned by MS. Since MS is there and talking, Halo and Bungie were not added as part of display.

I play Halo to have fun - and if I get banned from quitters feedback I'd be seriously annoyed. Admittedly the Team Snipers Quitting is down to me, but if I can't play because of lag/or am getting hassled/sworn at I think I should be able to quit without getting punished for it. To add to this, I agree with halo 2 live gamers when they called for a configurable optimatch, I'd like to be able to choose "Classic Team Slayer" as a match option for optimatch matchmaking where you get default maps with default options/weapons.

hay bungie there are some other countries other than USA!!!!! can you please make some competitions for other countries!!!! such as the master chief statue or limited edtion gold warthog competitions becuase i love halo just as much as people in USA and yet i dont get any of the same privileges :( i dont think it would be too hard to make some competitions for other countries, downunder(NZ) represent!!!! and also will the next new maps come out for download before the disk???? also i heard that halo3 (and dont say there is no halo3 cos i know there is!!!!!) was going 2 come out only on xbox 360 and not the 1st xbox and i know alot of people (me) that cant aford a new xbox so they will not beable to play halo3!!!! I think there should be a thing where when ure teammate leaves u get damage resistencea and extra damage. I hadn't been able to play on live for a while and when I started playing again last weekend I was at lvl 1 because of the stat resets and even as I grew a few lvls in double team my teammates kept leaving right as the game starts because they think I suck really bad but really I'm as good or better than them but I lose anyway because its 2 on 1. I REALLY hate leavers. I think u should address this problem. [Edited on 5/16/2005]

hey romanzam i looked at ur friend x F L 4 N K x and i know wat u mean he played 15 h2h games in a row that were no longer than 2 mins. a piece some were only 1 min. which is kinda weird considering the fact that it is the hardest to find 1 person while playin h2h.

Xbox 360: Might be backward compatible, might not. Might be $299 with basic setup (single controller, console, connection wires, headset), might be up to $499 with extras included (more than one controller, maybe a pretty Xbox Live package, maybe a game or three, who knows?). Next week's update: How about a few more new map screenshots, and the suggestion that "Team killer (or "Betrayer")" and "Supreme moron" may be added as feedback options? Hey Frankie, I too was wondering how much this SWEET XBOX 360 will cost because I have heard it might be $300 or as much as $500. I was also wondering if their will be a DVR on the XBOX 360 cause if Microsoft has not thought of that feature, I believe that would blow everyone out of the water. Savagesquirrel2 PS.
