I would like to have a calm, civilized conversation about the Hunter throwing knives. I believe that the headshot damage, not the base damage by any means, should be increased. My reasoning is...
Titans have a one shot melee, the shoulder charge, and I have also seen titans regenerate health upon dealing melee damage.
Warlocks have an ability that allows them to receive an extra overshield upon landing a melee hit.
Hunters, Gunslinger in particular, have no way to land a melee and immediately kill someone apart from using there exotic slot and having to be invisible AND behind the enemy. I use Gunslinger, and I can land a headshot with the knife AND have the burn ability active, and not receive a kill. I believe that that should be rewarded with a kill, especially with a burn. Even if a basic throwing knife (without the burn) would not make a 1 shot, a precision shot AND the burn affect should.
Edit: Due to a common misunderstanding, I am implying that the burn should kill the person. I don't believe a basic knife should be able to kill a player with one shot. The incendiary knife perk would have to be active in able to get the kill.
Edit: Due to a common statement, which I do believe to be true, I think that of this was applied, the hit box for the head should also become smaller. I will agree, I have made a few knife shots that I thought were going to miss completely.
Edit: Let's go guys! 100 replies! Keep posting that input! I'm loving your guy's opinions on the matter.

Please vote and leave your opinion below on whether you think this should be changed or not. I would like to keep this calm and without all the fighting and arguing. I'm not crying for it to be buffed, but it should be considered given the abilities of the other classes.
Edit: Just to make this clear, you would have to use the incendiary knife perk. I don't know how many times I have to say this. That perk takes the place of the precision reset perk, so you could not run around constantly making knife kills. Please understand this. I'm getting tired of explaining this to each person.

I think the knives are fine, but I agree that the Incendiary Blade dot should be buffed in some fashion.
-
Yeees.. How was this not addressed for 2.0!?!
-
Yep headshot should be OHK
-
The throwing knife was a shot shit kill during beta test but after examining the fact that the hunter had two instant kill melee Bungie nerfed it when the game officially launched. They figure that the hunter already had back stab so they would take out critical headset with throwing knife because it would have taken I Lil bit more skill and luck to pull it of without a cross air indicator.
-
Then they will need to look at other perks on the skill tree like holding two knives or being able to get a knife back and maybe even guns like the montecarlo what I think is it will make more people angry then happy so personally I don't think it should be changed.
-
I personally think that the Gunslinger is very much a glass cannon in that it has the potential to be devastating yet at the same time can als be very weak. I often find that I'll have one great match with Gunslinger than a crap match then a good match again. I don't think that the subclass is OP nor do I think it is UP, I think it just lacks potential consistency to win matches back to back to back. With someone who can master Gunslinger, they have the ability to top matches the way it is so no changes need to be made imo. The only thing that bugs me is that there is no viking funeral option for the igniting abilities on the Hunter.

Yea, I was pretty confused when I found out that tk wasn't one shot head shot. I mean it makes sense that it would be. If anything drop the aim assist a bit, if opness is the problem.
-
Wayyy too -blam!-ing op
-
Backstab..?
-
At least hunters and Titans get a different melee. Hunters can throw a knife and Titans can give you a powerful punch/kick. Warlocks have nothing. Flame shield does not count because it's just a perk. Also hunters are getting a new ability to evade quicker and they're melee has a grenade.

most of the time my burn doesn't even proc...
-
Throwing knifes are perfect right now love them don't change them
-
I love throwing knifes, i also wish they were a headshot instakill but that might be OP. At the very least i just wish they traveled faster.
-
They are fine as they are, you just have to know what you're doing -gunslinger since alpha
-
Make throwing knives 1 hit kill. I hate it when I get an awesome cross map shot and no kill
-
They are fine the way they are. -hunter main
-
If you can hit a headshot with a throwing knife it should be an instant kill with the stipulation that there be absolutely no aim assist associated with the throwing knife.
-
Should be instant kill in the first place.
-
As a main titan, i believe it should be a one shot kill in pvp
-
Also, adding on to this. Is there a glitch for anyone else where your incidneary knife never lights the enemy on fire? It happens for me only on bosses or 1 out of 100 times
-
Why does a shoulder kill a person but not a knife to the head?
-
During the beta getting a headshot with a throwing knife was a one hit kill. I miss that.
-
If I was hit with a flaming knife irl, I might die. If I got punched by some kid, OBVIOUSLY NOT.
-
A full Heath enemy that manages to take a throwing knife to the dome should die by burn or sheer damage. Either way the precision should be rewarded more than a shoulder charge or warlock melee.
-
I agree to an extent. Hunter Throwing Knives should be buffed up but also have a smaller hit box, that way it would reward a skilled hand but also one hit on a head shot. But that should also mean that the perk for two TKs and cool down reset perk should be on a 1-3 second wait period before you can throw another. For example, you get a delicious head shot with your first TK but you have to wait a few seconds before you'll be able to throw your second, as to prevent an entire team massacre(though that would be cool). You get me? Lol As for the Warlock Flame Shield. There seems to be a few heartbeats in between the time it takes for me to melee and for the shield to actually come up, now I'm not sure if that is just lag or a game mechanic but it's my observation. But if it is a game mechanic I'd say it would need to be an instant activation to be brought on par with the Shoulder Charge and buffed Throwing Knife being both OHKs. If you have any opinions on my opinions reply bro ;) lets throw some opinions around.

I main a hunter. I think the knives are fine where they are. Remember how annoying the "thorn two-shot walk away" was? Just imagine the "Hunter throwing knife headshot walk away". Titans only have a small win do to use shoulder charge and they're are numerous ways to counter. Sunsingers can one hit melee WITH radiance active. And the flame shield is weaker than people think it is. I have no problem with where they are now because they can be used from a distance AND can be used in short notice.
