I would like to have a calm, civilized conversation about the Hunter throwing knives. I believe that the headshot damage, not the base damage by any means, should be increased. My reasoning is...
Titans have a one shot melee, the shoulder charge, and I have also seen titans regenerate health upon dealing melee damage.
Warlocks have an ability that allows them to receive an extra overshield upon landing a melee hit.
Hunters, Gunslinger in particular, have no way to land a melee and immediately kill someone apart from using there exotic slot and having to be invisible AND behind the enemy. I use Gunslinger, and I can land a headshot with the knife AND have the burn ability active, and not receive a kill. I believe that that should be rewarded with a kill, especially with a burn. Even if a basic throwing knife (without the burn) would not make a 1 shot, a precision shot AND the burn affect should.
Edit: Due to a common misunderstanding, I am implying that the burn should kill the person. I don't believe a basic knife should be able to kill a player with one shot. The incendiary knife perk would have to be active in able to get the kill.
Edit: Due to a common statement, which I do believe to be true, I think that of this was applied, the hit box for the head should also become smaller. I will agree, I have made a few knife shots that I thought were going to miss completely.
Edit: Let's go guys! 100 replies! Keep posting that input! I'm loving your guy's opinions on the matter.

Please vote and leave your opinion below on whether you think this should be changed or not. I would like to keep this calm and without all the fighting and arguing. I'm not crying for it to be buffed, but it should be considered given the abilities of the other classes.
Edit: Just to make this clear, you would have to use the incendiary knife perk. I don't know how many times I have to say this. That perk takes the place of the precision reset perk, so you could not run around constantly making knife kills. Please understand this. I'm getting tired of explaining this to each person.

I'm fine with the way it is but I wouldn't mind an increase. But i'd rather get crit damage on headshots with super. a class all about crits. but the super doesn't take advantage of that just feels wrong...
-
OK, you mentioned the other op melees without blinkstrike. Also, throwing knife can one shot if his health us a little down. No melee should be a one shot, except for the warlocks Radiance. That means each class has one great melee. No need for any nerfs or buffs. Case closed.
-
If everyone could stop using the shoulder charge as an excuse... That'd be great
-
Well, as a hunter main (Ps3 if that changes anything) I can kill anybody, unless they have a shield/super, with a headshot using incendiary blade
Maybe I'm just lucky :P
-
And if they were one shots there goes the variation. Everyone will run incendiary. Imo- Buff circle of life. Or replace it. Buffs?- provides an extras GG shot (only Procs once per super) Switches?- -knife kills regenerate health
-
I dont even main hunter and 100% agree with this.
-
It doesn't need buffed. Think about storm fist! Here's my fixes- -nerf flame shield (it's all any sunsinger uses!) (to Proc on kill?) -increase titan melee damage As for knife, just do a quick cannon shot beforehand.
-
I think it's fine, but I'd like a perk that gives a shield when you get a kill with a throwing knife. You can remove that extended golden gun with a melee kill perk.
-
Agreed, but like you said in the edit, they would need to lower the hitbox.
-
Death by burn, you say? Like, how thorn used to function prior to 2.0? No thank you.
-
Yeah, it should at least bring them down to really low health
-
Agreed.
-
Like you said, the hitbox would definitely need to be smaller or this would be extremely common and become very frustrating.
-
Well their super makes up for it. You can't have everything. Plus getting one shot knifed from across the map or room or down a hallway would get old fast and possibly be way too OP

I main a Titan, and I can agree that the Throwing knife might need a precision damage buff. Although, if the precision damage were buffed, I believe Gunslingers should not keep the knife juggler perk, nor should the incendiary knife recieve the precision damage buff. An extra throwing knife is fine, but a skilled player being able to theoretically chain 1-shots fo'ever...at least Shoulder Charge and Sunsinger melee have to recharge, and can be shut down at close range, unlike a proposed 1-shot knife juggler. I would propose removing Circle of Life and Knife Juggler, and replacing them with two new perks. Got some ideas here: Adrenaline Shot- killing a target with a precision Throwing knife regenerates health and grants +3 agility. Reloaded- Precision Throwing knife kills replenish magazines for equipped Primary and Special weapons, and temporarily grant Quickdraw. Hunter's Instinct- Precision Throwing Knife kills reduce recharge time for Golden Gun, and temporarily grant enhanced radar awareness. Take 'em Down- Throwing Knife deals reduced precision damage, but marks damaged target for 5 seconds, substantially increasing weapon damage done to target by allies. Just a few suggestions.

Edited by nolan20012: 9/12/2015 1:08:37 AMeveryone does have a one shot melee, blade dancers have backstab
-
Played mayhem recently? We kinda see golden gun is clearly the strongest super there.
-
Ehh. I respectfully disagree. My throwing knife is pretty useful for finishing people off from a distance, or listing their health to make it a level playing field when I'm already weak
-
Shoulder charge is not a melee
-
You don't also need to be invisible for backstab to kill in one hit. It also glitches out 50% of the time and works front the front.
-
I would've really liked to have seen an hunter exotic chest or arm which has a bunch of knives on it and give u 1-2 extra knives and have strength
-
-
No because you have two knives that can instantly recharge upon headshot kill. Play bladedancer if you want your one shot melee. Voidwalker and defender titans do not have a one shot and sunsingers barely have a one shot melee.
-
I agree. Let the knife be a 1 kill with a headshot + burn perk.
-
Headshot should be a kill but body shots should only take off a shield.
-
The throwing knife should have a charge meter.
