I would like to have a calm, civilized conversation about the Hunter throwing knives. I believe that the headshot damage, not the base damage by any means, should be increased. My reasoning is...
Titans have a one shot melee, the shoulder charge, and I have also seen titans regenerate health upon dealing melee damage.
Warlocks have an ability that allows them to receive an extra overshield upon landing a melee hit.
Hunters, Gunslinger in particular, have no way to land a melee and immediately kill someone apart from using there exotic slot and having to be invisible AND behind the enemy. I use Gunslinger, and I can land a headshot with the knife AND have the burn ability active, and not receive a kill. I believe that that should be rewarded with a kill, especially with a burn. Even if a basic throwing knife (without the burn) would not make a 1 shot, a precision shot AND the burn affect should.
Edit: Due to a common misunderstanding, I am implying that the burn should kill the person. I don't believe a basic knife should be able to kill a player with one shot. The incendiary knife perk would have to be active in able to get the kill.
Edit: Due to a common statement, which I do believe to be true, I think that of this was applied, the hit box for the head should also become smaller. I will agree, I have made a few knife shots that I thought were going to miss completely.
Edit: Let's go guys! 100 replies! Keep posting that input! I'm loving your guy's opinions on the matter.

Please vote and leave your opinion below on whether you think this should be changed or not. I would like to keep this calm and without all the fighting and arguing. I'm not crying for it to be buffed, but it should be considered given the abilities of the other classes.
Edit: Just to make this clear, you would have to use the incendiary knife perk. I don't know how many times I have to say this. That perk takes the place of the precision reset perk, so you could not run around constantly making knife kills. Please understand this. I'm getting tired of explaining this to each person.

I like the throwing knife the way it is. I've had some spectacular time with them in the crucible. I think they may need a PvE buff but other than that it's the highest range melee (although scorch melee has similar range :p) and the only one with a precision modifier. Although, I do agree that the burn (which is a separate perk completely that you trade off for other benefits) should do more damage. An outright kill? well it would just have to be over a longer period of time so that the opposing player has a chance to counter it (red death or overshield).

Dude I'm confused why are you complaining I got killed by like 20 throwing knifes today
-
Guys, keep in mind that it's incredibly hard to land a headshot on a moving target (especially a player - any smart player will be moving constantly), and it's not instant, like s gunshot, it takes time to throw a knife and even more to throw the second, or ready a weapon and fire.
-
Have you never heard of backstabbing on the blade dancer? I ohk all the time with that
-
The hunter just gets the shaft
-
Then they try to cover it up with night stalker Like really 50% of times I die by those DANM over shields But BUNGIE don't NERF
-
Better yet, screw the burn. Crit is ohko in pvp. But, there's a damage falloff.
-
Too easy. Sorry OP.

If it's a one hit kill that's just two powerful, especially since it's ranged. I would be okay with the throwing knife burn being near a one hit
-
If you can't sot someone once after a throwing knife you are -blam!-ing awful. With TLW/Thorn nerfed throwing knives would be so -blam!-ing OP in the 10-25 metre area. If throwing knives are one hit kill, then give warlocks a stronger flame shield and give titans serious AOE on striker Melee.
-
absolutely not. i would support it IF they removed the incredible aim assist they have. the things miss by a mile, yet somehow hit someone in the head? and a body shot doesn't even have to be close. they would also have to remove any and all ability to have more than one, both after landing a precision one, and just the extra one in general. they would also have to do something with the range. outside of shotgun range, the damage needs to be drastically reduced. due to lack of skill? no. but because it is a melee attack.
-
No lol. Shoulder charge cant be activated just like that
-
I like the idea of it, but we truly do have the best range overall with melee. Maybe a health regen perk with throwing knife kills. Day one hunter here.
-
Has no way to land a melee? You serious man? The range makes up for that
-
As a Day One HUnter, I like the idea of any kind of buff, especially on the knives, but ass it is, they have a pretty wide hitbox, plus instant cooldown with precision, kills, etc. So no. Used with the right build (like EVERYTHING in Destiny), they're pretty effective as is (see above video).
-
NO. Throwing Knife has more range than any other, AND Hunter's make up for lack of a true OHK melee by having the most mobile Supers in the game. Jesus Christ get over it people not every class is meant to be equal. It's give and take. It's like you're all little Halo morons and never have touched an RPG before.
-
Nope. I main with a hunter but I have to disagree. The buff you want will make the knives OP. Currently, we can already carry up to 2 knives and recharge the cooldown instantly with a precision kill. Among the melee abilities, it's also the one with the most range. As it is, you can kill someone by significantly lowering their shields then finishing them off with a throwing knife. With the knives' large hit box, that tactic is pretty effective. When paired with Khepri's Sting, the gunslinger can now also go invisible. We can be f*cking ninjas and throw knives from invisibility. Pair that with buffed knives and we become OP ninjas. So yeah, we don't need a buff.
-
I agree it should be at least a one shot to the head, however a one shot with burning on
-
I don't think Titans can start health with melee damage
-
But honestly that would make throwing knives op. They're quite easy to get head shots with. A handcannon goes quite well with it. One shot. One knife. Dead.
-
I usually run my titan and I agree... it does take some skill and it has a cooldown. I definitely think that it should with a burn. That being said, I don't know if it should take someone down if they have an extra shield, because they chose perks and abilities to combat certain OHK.

I LOVE KNIFE THROWING

Hunters need to realize trhat they have a clear advatnage in the super department. Not just in one super but in both. So if the warlock and titan melee is a bit stronger then so be it. That is sort of balance and not even go0od balance the hunters super advntage is still stronger than titan and warlock melee advantage
-
I'm fine with the way it is but I wouldn't mind an increase. But i'd rather get crit damage on headshots with super. a class all about crits. but the super doesn't take advantage of that just feels wrong...
