A friend of mine who is also a producer in the industry has a theory about this. I'm not sure how right it is, but at least it's interesting. Long post warning. His theory is that the reason people get so bothered by porn, and by fetishes like this one, is not that they think it's gross exactly, but that they feel something that they can't pin down when they see it and get confused by those feelings. Don't misunderstand. He isn't saying that you like it necessarily, just that you feel something when you see it. For example, he has always said that the reason so many women dislike porn isn't because it's revolting to them, but because it makes them feel unwanted and inadequate. That's not a problem with the porn itself, it's a problem with them. (I know, I know, there are many women that do like porn. You don't need to tell me that.) With a foot fetish specifically, his theory is that people who get grossed out by feet feel that there is something vaguely "wrong" when feet are presented (by the model, by the photographer, etc...) in prominent poses and lighting. It's not a part of the body that usually receives focus, and seeing it put out on display makes people feel uneasy just because it's abnormal to them. They misinterpret that feeling and think that it's gross instead. Now don't get me wrong. You can think that feet are gross. That's not impossible and there's nothing wrong with it if that's what you really feel, but my friend's theory is that most people don't really feel this way. For most people, it's just abnormal, and because they can't understand why anyone would like it, it makes them feel uneasy. You see this all the time in popular culture. Subcultures (nerds, goths, emos) are not well understood, and by definition they are abnormal, so as a result they are often dismissed as bad or harmful by many people. (Generally by older people because they are further removed from the values and interests of the subculture.) In fact, there's another theory that this is related to how how foot fetishes form in the first place. Some people are drawn to this feeling and want to understand it, because they realize it's just abnormal rather than gross, so they spend a lot of time looking at feet and eventually develop a strong sexual attachment to them. I know this is really deep, but bear with me, because it has a practical manifestation. Sexual psychology is hugely important to understand if you want to make the big bucks in the porn industry. This happens all the time with Internet porn. I see it in my statistics every day. My third highest yearly source of traffic (after the United States and Italy) is India, which has a huuuuge cultural stigma surrounding porn. (For those who are curious, Italy has a huge anal fetish for some reason, so that's why we're so popular there.) Are Indian people somehow hornier than the rest of us, or more perverted than the rest of us? I doubt it. I think they are drawn to pornography because they are curious. There are very few depictions of sexuality that are acceptable in their culture, but they feel something when they see it, and so they seek out pornography in order to understand their feelings. Tell me I'm crazy, but I think my friend is onto something. I guess this would be a good time to mention that he is in charge of one of the more successful porn networks on the Internet right now. If you have ever watched porn online, you've probably been to one of his websites.

  • It's not Pornhub but it's right up there with it in terms of traffic. And it's not just one site either, it's an entire network of sites.
Fun fact, Pornhub is owned by the same company that owns Brazzers.
It's much harder now. The industry as a whole has beefed up security in recent years. Cracking passwords, while not impossible, now takes way more effort than it once did. Most of the "free" accounts you see on the Internet these days were purchased using stolen credit cards.

  • Yea I would hope they made it a little harder. I just remember getting a text from my friend when I was like 12 to come up to his house and when I got there his older brother had brazzers open. Maybe he payed for it at the age of 14 and I was lied to lol

  • I highly doubt that he paid for it. Kek. Look, I'm not gonna lie, I used to torrent stuff when I was still too young to buy it. People do that. We don't endorse it (obviously, and for more reasons than the obvious... think about it) but we do realize that it happens.
