I can't recommend Ni No Kuni enough. The game is a masterpiece of JRPGs. Everything about it is executed perfectly. The story is epic but very easy to follow like the best of the traditional JRPGs of the early to mid-90s. The gameplay was addicting as hell. And the graphics and sound were stunning. It's a shame that this game wasn't a best seller--it probably should have released on xbox as well to get more exposure, but then again it probably wouldn't have sold enough anyways because there's no accounting for taste, as they say. Seriously, I don't understand why so much garbage sells millions while awesome games like Ni No Kuni are only moderate successes if they're lucky.

  • I remember hearing about that game when it was first announced and I just about bought a PS3 just so I could play that game... I didn't and I've felt bad ever since. You forgot to mention that it the developers partnered with Studio Ghibli in animating the cut scenes, so basically its a high quality game paired with a high quality anime. And if I'm not mistaken it has about a movie's worth of content done solely by the studio, and from what I hear its one of their better stories, but everything they do is great anyways. The only real negative thing I heard was the sheer length of that game, it can easily last up to 50-100 hours, the 'bad' part being the 'filler' gameplay-wise... it's just a lot.

  • I downloaded the demo and I was completely lost. It seemed fun but they just threw you into that volcano boss battle and I've never played a game like that before. Does the beginning ease you in? I'll try it again til fallout 4 if so

  • I remember a demo where you fought a forest guardian. The volcano boss you're speaking about is actually much later in the game, I'm surprised the demo you got threw you into such a late section. The game definitely eases you in. The battle system is very different--imagine a real time Pokemon. The battles definitely become more challenging but only gradually, which is why the game always feels challenging but never too difficult.
