A team play game dynamic

TD:LR at bottom. Hey Bungie:) You've probably already thought of this one but just in case you haven't: My co worker and I like playing destiny so naturally at work we tend to talk about it a lot. Yesterday we were discussing strikes and how annoying it sometimes can get. I personally like speed runs where he believes in killing all enemies before moving forward. So naturally we never play strikes together because we would annoy each other to no end. But he had a good point when he said that I wasn't playing the strike as the devs most likely intended. But then again... Aren't I? He argument is when you can simply run past all the enemies and finish the mission without having to do much of the work/gameplay as intended it is extremely annoying and he hates being on teams like that because he doesn't run past enemies and then is forced to fight all the enemies left by his teammate if they run past. And sometimes he takes a long time getting through those sections because he's most the time alone. He feels that if all the strike team moved as a group through the strike it would still be as easy as running past because then you'd have three guns on a target instead of just one. And on top of that, we were talking about how annoying it is when you are partnered up with guardians who do not do a thing and you are forced to fight by yourself. I personally hate this, he doesn't. I don't like this because it's like fighting short handed all the time and it makes for a longer strike then it needs to be. He doesn't mind it because he finds it to be no different then players running ahead and leaving teammates behind. The other thing that we talked about and agree on,.. Is that the game mechanic of wave defence is super annoying and could easily be transitioned to another game mechanic that is already in play within the game: sync plates. Instead of having the ghost having to be protected from 3 waves of enemies, by installing barriers (not unlike those we see in Crota's End) and sync plates where teammates have to stand in order to allow their teammates past a certain area (kind of like Portal game mechanics for multiplayer or the Crota bridge section) you could introduce a game mechanic that would fix most the problems we already talked about. People wouldn't be able to just run ahead, because they'd need their teammates. The only problem I can foresee with this type of game mechanic is if you were playing with a random and he wasn't doing anything. I'm sure you could think of an easy way to rectify that though. Please share your thoughts and suggestions. Thanks:) TD:LR: It is annoying playing strikes when you can run past enemies, when you have teammates that don't do anything, when you are forced into wave defence. Add dynamics such as barriers where multiple sync plates must be utilized in order to continue.
