Instead, I'm going to use it for useful things, like getting tax-free income, sweet health benefits and the opportunity to, you know, [i]make a difference[/i]. That's why I'm slaving away in a six year degree, after all. :P KIDDMNKY: I have a ton of respect for people who have been there and done that. God knows I've found myself wondering a lot of times if I'd be as strong as my dad if I found myself in some of the situations he was in. The stories I've heard are just the tip of the iceberg. I know there's stuff he doesn't want to talk about, probably stuff he [i]can't[/i] talk about. Most days, I'm just glad he survived long enough to be my dad, you know? He went through things so horrible he still has nightmares about them, saw friends dying before his eyes when he was only a couple of years older than me, and that's not even the worst of it. I'm just glad he's here to tell the tale (or not), even if survival came at such a high cost. Anyway, of course I can't pretend to understand all that stuff. I never said I did. That's one of the reasons I get a little annoyed when people use "I'm in the Army" as an excuse to be a douche. It trivialises and demeans the work of so many decent people. There are people out there laying down their lives, and some idiot thinks he can use this like some instant status badge on a forum? Give me a break. ...Whoa. I've clearly found one of my triggers.
