Cozmo, I would like a complete answer
If you click the link you will see that Cozmo only answered part of the question. The final question in the quote Cozmo pulled from Lost Sols goes something like this:
Will players who've not purchased the Taken King have access to currently existing endgame content once Taken King releases? Yes or no?
To expound: will they be able to play nightfalls of the currently existing content that exists today on 8-28-15 on September 15th? And the dailies, and the weekly heroic, etc.?
Yes or no?
Or will they be locked completely out of those activities because they didn't purchase TTK? Activities that would include Vanilla, TDB, and HOW content.

No answer from cozmo. Oh well. I got the answer from the most recent game informer interview via youtube.
If you do not purchase TTK you cannot play the daily, nightfall, or vanguard heroic and normal strike playlists.
Why? Because you won't meet the light level requirement. The light level requirements can only be met through equipping powerful new taken king gear.
You will start at light level 160. The nightfall and strikes are above 200. No taken king gear, no access.

Final edit: you can't lvl past 34 without TTK. It's clearly stated in the patch notes.

The better business Bureau rating is one of the most prestigious ratings a company can receive. If you complain enough and do not get it resolved by Activision, their grade goes down. Companies would not allow that to happen so they usually reach a plea deal with all complaints. Please, use this resource if you're serious about getting a refund.

Every expansion, they have been raised to the level cap- this is really nothing different. You only see it as such because there's no way to get to 40 unless you buy TTK. Don't expect to get access to Year Two content without buying the Year Two expansion.

I dont recall bungie saying u cant get newer gear if u dont have ttk. Cryptarch and Faction packages can yield legendary items to buff ur light levels. until TTK drops there is no way to know. so wait till then before picking up the pitchforks and torches

I for one am extremely tired of this developers childish antics. It's been a year, and over that year community who have standards have had to ask this developer repeatedly to emit traits of human decency. Every 2-3 months we are forced to come onto the forums and tell this developer (ITS "people") to "stop ____fill_in_the_blank_____". And for an entire year after asking we are once again forced to ask Jason Jones, Mark Noseworthy, Luke Smith, David Dague, Lars Bakken and God only knows who else to stop abusing your "Eula". I bought the game to play it. Not hand hold a developer and walk it's bosses to school every morning for another year so they stop destroying everything they touch.

Well, when HoW and TDB were released, they basically locked people out of content e.g. nightfall on HoW levels etc So yeah... that answered the question long ago for me and thats when I lost most of my respect for Bungie, because Bungie locked people out of content they had already paid for i.e. Nightstrike + Daily

He didn't spoil anything from the story or weapons or characters. There were no bullshit "soon" answers or long-winded politician style answers that don't really answer anything. He was straight forward and emphasized that his job is to get information about the game to the fans of Metal Gear. Could someone please explain what Deej and Cosmo's job is? Because it sure the Hell isn't getting the fans of Destiny important information about TTK. There is no excuse why questions like the ones asked in this thread (and many others) have not been answered. Bungie's refusal to answer legitimate concerns and queries from the community is unprofessional and downright insulting. [\Rant]

I'm not sure how well this analogy would hold up in court really. Destiny is nothing unless you have Internet, PS Xbox account and of course the locked content if you don't buy their DLC's which is a load of crap. If we can't continue playing the vanilla as it was when first bought, TDB and HoW when they were purchased. Then wouldn't bungie be stealing from the customer? That's selling someone a car then coming back a month later to start removing the tires, then another month to remove the windows. How is this even considered legal by any means?

They stated that there are only 3 strike lists now. Legacy, vanguard normal, and vanguard heroic. Legacy is all year 1 strikes. Which if I wanted to, could say that this is what people who don't buy TTK will still get to play. Effectively locking them out of the rewards normally offered by the former weekly heroic. Not surprising, but there it is.
