Serious Question.

I have a serious question in my life right now that needs to be answered as soon as possible. I am 16 years of age, and I am soon about to be 17 (another 2 months). I have had a drug related problem since I was 10 years of age with marijuana, I then got sentenced 1 year probation/drug court at the age of 15. I am being released from probation/drug court tomorrow evening. I have been in perfect compliance for that past year, staying sober and whatnot. My question is, I have been debating whether or not I should smoke again or not, but in a lesser amount of time. I became a so called, "pot head" way too quickly at the age of 10. But, now since I am much more mature and experienced in life, I think I can control this habit. My friends tell me as long as you get your life priorities taken care of first each day, you can do whatever you want. But, then I think why waste a whole year of being sober, and then going back to day 1 in a matter of 5 minutes? Any opinions is greatly appreciated by any means.

 • You have already altered your chromosomes and whatnot so I say go ahead and smoke it! Just never do it outside of your house and never carry anything on you when you leave home. that way you'll likely never get caught. Or you could try crack, it gets you pretty high, and i heard its not really as addictive as they say. good luck overcoming you ganja addiction, but as for me...............ill keep smoking

 • You can't control it. Sure, you'll tell youself that you can, and maybe even believe it, but you can't. Be addicted means that you can not live without it. Withdrawal sucks, and you will take more to try and avoid it. The only problem is that you have to take more, and more, and more...

 • All good advice, and good question-where are you? Are you going to respond to any of this? An alcoholic can't quit for a year and then pick it up again and drink "normally" the same is true for drug addiction. It doesn't get easier to control it just leads you down the same path you've already been on. If you keep doing what you've done before you are going to get the same results that you did before. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. I think the question to ask is what is it that you are trying to achieve by smoking pot that you can't achieve by other means? Or-what is it that you are trying to escape from that you can't face? Just curious.

 • I have a terrible addiction to rotisserie chicken... been trying to break free for years. Just trying to add a touch of humor. Very badly done though :( Quit. Just quit.

 • Don't even smoke or drink. My dad's friend started smoking in his college days and died a few weeks ago. He was 40, I think. Stay away from smoking and drinking. You can save almost $3,000 a year if you do not smoke and this goes higher for pot because it costs more.

 •
Posted by: DeusExMathias Don't waste your life like I did. If you start smoking again, you'll start to feel dumber & dumber day by day. By the time you get older & really start to notice the damage you've done to your mind, it'll be too late. It affects your moods, & relationships with friends & family. It is a -blam-ing curse. I wish I could communicate to you just how bad it is for you. When I was in school, we sort of thought that it was just some sort of conspiracy, that the "authorities" just didn't want you to "free your mind, man." What a load of horse -blam-. I look around at my 30-something year old friends that still do it & I see what mental midgets that they've degenerated into. Stay free from the schackles of being a dope-smoking moron. It's only fun for an hour or 2, but then you have an entire lifetime of damage & permanent consequences ahead of you. It only starts out with a toke here & a toke there but it almost ALWAYS becomes a daily habit. Don't listen to anyone who wants to tell you that it's OK, that it doesn't cause permanent damage. You should see some of the empty shells of 40 - 50 yr old people I've worked with & known. It really is depressing. You are going to live a long time - don't trade tommorrow for today. Take Care & Good Luck. P.S. Its hard to hit a bong with both hands on your controller! ;)
I agree. [Edited on 4/27/2005]

As it is, you have learned nothing. Didn't you notice a difference in that year of a drug free life? Didn't you think more clearly, didn't you feel in better control of your life? I have had addictions in my life, none of them were extremely harmful, but when I broke free of them, I felt great. I felt like I had control, I understand what addiction is like and I promise you that you will be a better and happier person if you do not go back to it. By the way, that is the first serious post I have made in awhile. I would ask that you take it with as much seriousness as I made it and think about your life and how you can make yourself a better person.

 • I suggest switching to coffee as your drug of choice. The side effects include "being awake," and other nasty things like that.

 •
Posted by: ObbiQuiet Your brain is still developing. I wouldn't smoke again until you're at least 25. (this is based on evidence - your brain doesn't actually finish until around 25 years of age - and it's also proven that the use of mind-altering substances harms this development)
just so you know it also causes your body to produce hormones in excess of their normal levels that are fine and even good for you at normal levels but when you have to much it causes the shrinking if pocketed honey comb cells in short it shrinks your dick.

It's not physically addicting, and often psychological addictions are habitual.
I was just going to say that.

 • Let us plant trees that bear positive fruits that enlighten our minds to the deepest roots, all the way to the core where the soul can stay true. Where I can walk free with a joint in my hand and I can plant plants right upon my land, help em understand these are natures laws, my creator had visions in the things he saw. Now when the love is lost and your spirits are low, the world's closing in around you got no place to go, Done all that you could to ease and please another soul. And in the end you're in the cold, another sad story told. That's why I make my own decisions on how I'm liven, Try to get by with the knowledge that I'm given, Can't make me believe cause a tree is a tree And when my soul bleeds, the color that I'm spillin' is green. WAIT UNTIL YOU GET OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL [Edited on 4/27/2005]
