We've had 2 different ARRIS models from Time Warner (Hawaii). You don't actually do regular Port Forwarding. They set up some type of "VIRTUAL" thing that is weird. Asking Time Warner Tech Support is useless, as they insist they never have any complaints, but a quick Google search proved them wrong. We've done Port Forwarding, Open Ports, set up Static IP, UPnP and even DMZ, but would still have problems. We'd be fine then have NAT issues with some people randomly. The best thing I could suggest is to reset the router to factory settings, just Google it (you need a paper clip), have a wired connection (correct settings on console), set up a Static IP, then Enable UPnP. You should be set tjen. This is the cleanest way to see if you have another problem then you can go from there, if you need to.

  • Also can changing the wireless channel help gain more active connection to game servers no?

  • Destiny is a Data hog, it sends a lot of data back and forth. It uses much more data than most other games (kind of like Defiance). It works much better on a wired connection.

  • Will the situation be better if one console is on a wired connection & the other is wireless

  • That is better option than both wireless, but Network problems are best resolved starting with some basics. This is the "cleanest" way to see if your Network will support 2 consoles. Then you can go from there. CHANGING ONLY 1 STEP AT A TIME, so you can see what is causing a problem. It's best to get it working using both wired connections, then go wireless. This only works if you follow the steps I've outlined.

  • Wouldnt setting a console up for DMZ be unsafe because it put it outside of NAT?

  • Yes it was a last ditch effort trying to set up 2 consoles, 1 PS4 & 1 PS3. Had to be very careful not to "open" anything on that PS3. But I'm not suggesting you do that. After hours of Networking, research, changing modem/routers and having more problems a few weeks later. I'm telling you the best option is to set up a wired connection, reset the router to factory default settings, set up a Static IP (although some say not necessary if Enabling UPnP but we needed it), and Enable UPnP. This is the easiest way to clear anything done before and the cleanest way to start. It should clear things up.

This is your problem then. Your router is having problems differentiating the 2 PS4's when you play. They have lists of routers known to support multiple consoles, just Google it. Time Warner here didn't have any of those. When I asked Tech Support they said all 4 models they had worked for multiple consoles playing at the same time and they'd never had a complaint. But we were on our 3rd model. I asked for my Motorola Surfboad back (they replaced it when they changed to faster speeds, I wasn't having problems and would rather just be slower but working). A quick Google search proved they had a lot of problems, when I referred him to them he just kept denying. I tried another rep but also found them uninformed. She actually said I watch TV online, respond to emails while my son plays Xbox and we have never had a problem. I hung up. Bring the second one into the living room, just for this set up to see if it solves your problems. If it does then try to switch that one back to wireless (make sure to change console settings).

  • Yeah that UBEE brick was a POS. I had to go into the TW office a few times and also they mailed me one of the ARRIS' (sent a packing label to return the old 1).

  • I made them come out & install Arris & take back thir POS ubee. Ive been told by my bro in law that i could connect another wireless router like tp link or netgear or just any good name brand & connecct it to the arris router & turn wireless off on router & use ethernet to connect both routers & bridged them. & he said he had little to no problems since. Is that possible as far as gaining network quality with less issues?

  • We did that with a Netgear router but still had problems. 1 console was fine, but the other wasn't.
