So, i have recently come out of hiding. Mainly, due to boredom. I have not posted terribly much. However, a friend of mine mentioned me today that I should be banned because he thinks that all of my posts since my re-emergence border on spam. However, he thinks that the reason I have not been banned is because of my Mythic status.
Now, as I've not come to the forums for quite a long time(to me), I have no idea if this seems to be a plausible, prevalent phenomenon.
What do you think?
EDIT: argh! accursed character limit in the title bar!

Ask Snakie next time he's Mythic. He'd be glad to do it.
I'd do it myself, but Achronos has realised I'm far too cool to be mythic and has set it up so that I am permanently a member, the coolest rank there is.

I think the mods are going to give mythic members more leaniency then say someone who has only been here a few months.

No. The last time I dropped from Legendary to regular Member, all I got was a quote from "a particular unnamed fmoderator" saying play nice.

I believe I've been banned about 3 times, and warned maybe 4 (some before bluebar, some after). I don't think it's a question of the colour of my title bar that influences what Moderators think about me. It's more "oh god, it's him again -.-'...." sort of lovin'.
-
Well I haven't been banned for a while now and all I seem to be doing is having some fun in the Halo 3 Forum. Only occasionally though, I just love to see some of their responses to certain topics I post. Back on topic I think it may have something to do with it because we do have these ranks for a reason don't we. It shows that you are a mature user on bungie.net.

It's not about the bar, it's about the pizazz.
-
I'm totally biased.
Posted by: Serious Suicide I hope they are not more tolerant, no matter your status everyone should be treated equally.
Not necessarily true. I tend to lean more towards Helvecks thinking. Let the new members know right off that they can't do that or they'll keep doing it. (whatever they did wrong) If an older member does something that's not crossing the line, then you warn them because they're less likely to repeat it. Then again, I've been here a while (other lost accounts) and would likely be treated as a new member because I'm not active enough to go up in rank. So I kind of see both sides, but I think they should be slightly less strict on older members.
-
Yes i think they do, but it wouldn't be fair to someone who has used this website for a long time to suddenly lose their status over a minor infringement of the rules. It's like school - the teachers display more leniency to the older students.
Posted by: Yoozel Having a mythic bar to me tells me that you should know how to act around here and you should know the rules.
That's like saying having a functioning member means you know how to use it. And we all know that's not true.

Since you've already had your answer, there isn't much reason for me to reply but oh what the hell... If someone is a new member and they break the rules, it might be considered more so of a good idea to be a little more strict with them, than say someone who is is Mythic member. Why? Well like Pezz said, basically if you're a more senior member, and you make one slip, oh well, here's a warning, but you ultimately know to not repeat chronically... Whereas, if someone is new, and they're educated early on, bans and warnings are more effective issued to them, to someone of more seniority and experience around here. But then you have the whole issue of the double standard type thing... Which to be frank, I think is necessary in some cases, or well not necessary but acceptable I suppose... Depending on what rule is broken or how severe, it may be pointless to warn or ban a long standing member, while at the same time it may be necessary to do it to a new member because they simply do not know, or have a history already. If I was a Mod, I will admit, I would be slightly more lenient with more senior members, but after one warning I would not hesitate to ban them, because they would then simply be abusing the sort of trust you have given them in expecting them not to make a habit of whatever rules it is they are breaking...

Many months ago, I did something dumb and, I don't want to say any names but... a very old dude did not hessitated and banned me straight away. So no, they don't and should not take in consideration what title you have when it has to do with the site's rules.
Posted by: Exalted Mythic
Posted by: Kilroy my Mythic status.
Sorry, brah.
That's pretty hilarious, something similar came to my mind as soon as I read the word status! Totally. Being Mythic is like having a ban-proof-vest. I haven't felt the swift boot of justice since donning my blue robe. You should try it. It's been a while, Kilroy. :) Returned to tell us that polygamy is actually awesome? :P I kid, I kid. Come back to TBC a while sometime. [Edited on 04.01.2009 10:11 PM PDT]

Naw not really. However, they're always playing favorites.
-
I always thought it was obvious they did.

Some moderators tend to be more lenient towards members who they like more(from what I have heard), and other moderators don't care who the members are, and what title they have. They merely take into account the ban history of that particular member, and act from there. ~Hawk [Edited on 04.01.2009 9:41 PM PDT]
Posted by: A Celtic Tiger I haven't seen a Mythic member blacklisted. Because they don't do anything to deserve that.
Batzer was just blacklisted the other day,and he was Mythic. Although there was something fishy to me about it,his post was way out of character.
