Minecraft: No Longer Running on Java and What this Means

It's not exactly recent news to those who play PC minecraft frequently but to those who don't here's a little heads up. Minecraft will no longer be using, or at least pushing forward towards, no using Java in the future. For now they're using a wrap around of their own Java which doesn't/won't require you to have the program on your computer. Reasons why they're doing this: • Many people run the wrong version of Java on their computer. (32 bit versus 64 bit) Not necessarily an issue for those who know their hardware and what it's meant to have installed. However there are a significant amount of individuals who still do this and end up running Minecraft at a lower quality • Java is vulnerable. It's known to have zero day openings and susceptible to weak spots in it's programming. Plus it's a hassle to keep updated and have installed correctly ( cough You need to be offline to install. Reset your computer, your router, jerk off an egg plant and sacrifice your goat) • You system will run the game smoother (or so they say) without it Cons: As users on other forums and discussion boards have pointed out This will make modding a little bit more difficult. Some say it would be near impossible (but those people aren't trying hard enough) There may be a decrease in ridiculous mods for the game, but they surely aren't going to completely disappear anytime soon. With how easy it is to code in Java most servers could create and implement wonderful techniques for mods and admins.
A long standing server I once worked for had an "auto moderator" named Heimdall created by the admin. The mod would seek out and ban users for misconduct based on certain actions. Such as theft or greifing
It appears players are going to have to be a little more creative to achieve what they want. But creativity and Minecraft go hand in hand.
