Riddle Me This. Group #1

As soon as you get the correct answer, your name will be announced, and no, you're not allowed to use Google. [b]CANCELLATIONS[/b]: (1) If you suddenly shoot a statement without a number, your statement will be ignored. [b]THEME[/b]: Places and Events. #1. Where could it be? The sand is very immense, and the heat is extremely intense. Here, in this dilapidated land, nothing can grow, but it itself grows. Nothing can stop it's persistent onslaught. A slow death to a large land, but the land itself is ever larger still.[spoiler]The answer is The Sahara Desert. Discovered answer by [i]googankill[/i]. [/spoiler]#2. How? Why? When? Did these objects of great mass form from unintelligible hands? Why would such a shape come into being, or why would it's neighbor have a broken face? She cuddles the gifts she receives without teaching those gifts to maintain their humility. The first country it invaded was it's own, the second was it's neighbor, and the third was it's "friend." It disarmed it's people, and then it's people's neighbors. Suddenly, an angel forced one foot into the earth and one foot into the sea, rolling the sky as if it was a scroll. The earth burned, but the sky darkened.
