Machine Guns blow rocket launchers out of the water in PVE.. they just aren't safe enough to use consistently. Rocket Launchers offer you the ability to take cover, shoot, take cover again. MGs on the other hand force you to stand in the line of fire ot deal damage AND require you to hit some precision shots to really make them shine. Do they need a buff? NO. Instead, we need more opportunities to use MGs and not get instantly killed. Gjallarhorn, widely considered the best PVE heavy, does a fixed amount of damage with each rocket. In the time it takes to fire that rocket and reload another one, a good machine gun will have done almost double the damage. Take Thunderlord as an example: It deals somewhere between 1.2 and 1.5k damage to bosses when you hit them in their critical spot. You can fire off about 12-15 shots in the time it takes to fire a rocket and reload. You are talking 14,400 to 22,500 damage from Thunderlord in that same time frame. Gjallarhorn does just over 8k damage without burns as long as the levels of you and your enemy are correct. Thunderlord has the potential to do almost 3x the damage of Gjallarhorn. Machine Guns do not need a buff, we need better content so we can actually use Machine Guns.

  • How about a stability boost to increase that amount of precision damage? The buff for damage is an incentive to get away from everyone just using rockets like how shotguns are more fun to use now before the buff.

  • If you boost the stability they will just be overpowered. The lack of perfect stability (which some MGs actually have) is what keeps them from consistently dealing 3x the damage of their rocket launcher counterparts. They still have the potential to do a lot more damage, but they require a little skill. The only ones that have "Low" stability are the extremely high rate of fire MGs and they should remain that way.
