Yeah... There's a problem. Those aren't Ahamkara. Those are space dragons.
Ahamkara are, judging from the skulls provided to us by various armor pieces, definitely mammals.
Take a look at a cat's skull and you'll see the immediate resemblance to the skull seen in Young Ahamkara's Spine.

They are dragons that granted wishes, driven to extinction due to the possibility of their power falling into the wrong hands. The "dragons" on venus are more bat like.

Where do you find mention of them being dragons? I see that a good few people suppose that they are, but there's no concrete answer to this. It's a fairly confusing notion, when you look at two different pieces of armor, especially. Young Ahamkara's Spine shows a mammal-like skull, whilst Claws of Ahamkara has a set of triple-digit claws perched upon a Warlock's shoulders. The claws in Claws of Ahamkara seem to be more avian in design, and then we look at the Skull of Dire Ahamkara and everything is just thrown off track. This one is the least helpful of them all, since well over half of the Dire Ahamkara's skull is missing.From looking at the two skulls presented, though, whatever the Ahamkara were, they were very closely akin to mammals.

so ahamkara aren't space dragons? the grimoire doesn't seem to give them a description but more so just that they knew too much and had to be killed. i'd like to think they have been in hiding and are now ready to come back with a vengeance because of how the guardians tried to kill them all.

I'm under the impression that they are a leonine race of beings that offered unimaginable power at a steep price. There was initially supposed to be a playable race of such beings in-game, but Bungie scrapped it.

Interesting. I thought tiger man/woman was the scraped race and ahamkara were dragons. It's all confusing
