Can someone tell me why patrol is a series of rooms linked together by corridors? Everywhere I look, there is a goddamn barrier stopping me from going somewhere interesting. Is this the kind of trend we are going to see in Taken king and subsequent titles? There isn't really a good reason for this type of trapped design, the beacon missions don't have much thought to them. The campaign mission set pieces I suppose justify this setup but most dont take place on the greater map, most missions are shoved off in inaccessible areas on patrol.
I just want to have a bigger area to explore, places with fascinating off mission objectives and public events. Actual exploration beacon missions that take you to interesting areas. These missions and gameplay, being herded around exactly where you need to go isn't characteristic of a bungie game. Sure they say they only make the games they want to play but those games always had plenty of options. There were ways to get to your objective differently, destiny really doesn't allow much freedom but players found a way especially in raids. Ever wonder what's actually in the distance in the cosmodrome? What about the actual Valley of kings and the buried city on mars? What about the jungles of Venus you see from campus nine and the endless steps? The landscape on the moon inhabited by solar arrays and installations?
I'm not asking for much, I just want to see areas fleshed out a bit better. I don't want to drive room to corridor to room. Can we at least get a open style map? I think this game would be much better on the adventure front if it wasn't riddled with goddamn corridors with pretty skyboxes. Man those sky boxes are gorgeous. Thoughts?

3 reasons why 1.Bungie doesnt have enough cash 2.They have to close down destiny for days 3.They are focusing on patches and updates to balance the gameplay And remember destiny is a first person shooter game.

It isn't really exploration. I can't tell if they cut down the open world, or if it was always intended to be that way. There are so many places that are blocked off for no good reason. The corridor between the Mothyards and the Forgotten Shore, for example. We should be able to climb up the walls of the canyon, but other than a couple spots, you're totally restricted. The worst for me is the cities on Mars and Venus. You can't get up above the first story in 90% of them. We should be able to explore the ruined buildings on Mars, or get up on the rooftops, and it's mostly blocked off. I don't know how they can give us these awesome double-jump abilities, and give us an exploration mode, and so severely limit where we can go. The best example of how zones should be is Campus 9 (or whatever it's called) ok Venus. You can climb all over that place, and actually get up pretty high on the rocks and Vex structures. Perfect.

If Destiny were the game they sold it to us as... /wistful sigh

Edited by Galactic Zones: 6/25/2015 9:25:15 PMThis was one of the biggest disappointments for me when I first played the game way back on day 1. What's that in the distance? Looks kinda cool. Let me just climb on top of this ledge...oh hang on... TURN BACK Damn :( I love this game but I hope in Destiny 2 the environments are larger with more explorable areas and cool stuff to do.

has bungie ever told the truth? Remember "if you can see there you can go there?"
-
Bungie promised us dedicated servers too, looks like they forgot about those as well

I violated the Code of Conduct and was met with Ninja Justice.

Agree completely, but I think this has something to do with the old gen consoles. Maybe in Destiny 2 we'll finally get what we were promised lol
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Halo was linear as -blam!-. Zero exploration.
