• So it was told that the cabal were like the fallen in many ways, namely not being a minion of the Darkness. Imagine it the traveler gifted the cabal as well. Imagine THIS Destiny: Step 1: Choose your race- Elinski (Known for their agility and recovery), Humanoid (Known for their abilities and versatility), or Cabal (Known for their arsenal and toughness) this way we have a proper warrior, a proper rogue class, and a proper mage. Then it goes on to other selection. Character customization, for the humanoids their class, and for the others, well, it might go something like this. Elinski: You have 3 options here. Captain (the assault class), stealth vandal (fairly self explanatory), or an ether runner (a class whose abilities focus primarily on support, with abilities like healing aura and boosts to different things), with their respective abilities. Cabal: Centurion (the assault, armed with the most powerful shield and medium power weapons), phalanx (with its literal shield and lighter weapons) and the psion (the only one that does not fit the pattern, the psion is the embodiment of a glass cannon). This would provide variety not seen in Destiny today, along with the aspect of playing as the alien, an exciting aspect of most games.

OK, let's get one thing straight. THE FALLEN/ELIKSNI NEVER HAD GUARDIANS! The reason why there are guardians was because The Traveler was damaged in it's most recent fight with the darkness. Guardians were created to protect it while it recovered. So, when the Eliksni had the Great Machine, they never had the super powers we have today. Advanced, Golden Age level technology, yes. But Super Powers? Not so much. Another thing. You have made the assumption that the only reason the Eliksni lost the Traveler was because the Darkness scared it off. HOWEVER, when the Traveler had to either face the darkness or abandon humanity, it faced the -blam!-ing darkness! Now you might be quick to say, "But what if there was nowhere else to run?" Do you really think that the rest of the universe is full of the darkness, and that our solar system just happened to be the last place for it to reach? Even taking into account the opening cinematic where it shows black tendrils close in on The Traveler, it is possible that it was simply alluding to the darkness filled races like the Hive. Besides, Xur has said that the Traveler has a "dark mirror", imply that the Dark Traveler is of equal strength to ours. What does all this mean? The Traveler more likely left the Eliksni for other reasons. So what is different between Humans and Eliksni, from a societal stand point. Well, the Eliksni had Houses dividing them. In the Variks grimoire card, it should be noted that there is no mention on the formation of Houses. This implies Houses have always existed. Even with the Traveler, they had houses. Now, humanity did have countries, but the last mention of a country is on the moon (Korean writing on facility) and is the first place we colonized in the Golden Age. Afterwards, all mention of countries disappear, that they no longer existed. It can be assumed that a divided world government disappears soon after we meet the Traveler. This is the opposite of the Fallen who are bigoted. It has been shown on multiple occasions that if they united they could destroy the Last City. But, because each Kell is so power hungry, none will unite. This is why I think the Traveler left them. It knew the Darkness would crush them because they were divided, and it would die along with them. So can we stop this whole "oh! Our poor Eliksni Kin need to be rescued! They have been abused badly and need our help!" These are savages who hold power above all else and dismember their own people to show their weakness. I mean, most were ready to follow "Skolas, the Rabid" as their prophet! TL;DR: Fallen/Eliksni never had Guardians, so stop saying they were the "Old Guardians". Traveler left them because they were/are bigoted. Don't feel bad for them, they are still evil.

Its going to turn out just like Halo... The Fallen = The Elites I'm sure by Destiny 2 the Fallen will be revealed to to be split into a couple of factions, some good some bad and the Guardians will have to team up with them to take on the Hive/Flood... Fallen = Elites Hive = Flood Cabal = Brutes Vex = someone on the Dev team was a Whovian and thought "EXTERMINATE" From there I expect the story to pretty well follow the Halo story with minor changes.

        • The fallen were rejected for their barbaric behavior. They have devolved since then but they were ALWAYS a violent race.

        • I'd go with the story that Variks begins to rebuild The House Of Judgement, and allows defecting fallen to join him and the guardians or the queen. The base story line would be proving you no longer fight for the darkness. Then by the end of the story line you die and are recognized by a ghost giving you powers of light, or some cool mission where you have to kill an important fallen target, or instead of light powers you get dark powers.
I just thought out would be cool
• The only problem with Fallen as a playable race would be that all the armor wouldn't fit them. I'm all for Defender Vandals but I don't think their head would fit in the Helm of Saint-14.

                      • While waiting for the midnight release of Destiny we had a massive group discussing this same topic. We came to the conclusion that in Destiny 2 there will be a fallen house that exiled itself after their collapse to preserve the old ways that will join forces with us.

After reading the original thread, I can see it possible that the Eliksni could become allies, but unlikely Guardians. I'm hoping, though. What would a Fallen class item be?

                          • From just reading some replies, a team with the fallen would be cool if a new, even deadlier threat presented itself on earth. We could join together sort of like how the fallen houses join in time of war. Then we could make fallen characters in the character make screen. Destiny 2 plz?

                          • I don't think the Fallen ever had actual Guardians. That's one of the things that makes them hate us. The Traveler visited them, shared technology with them, terraformed planets with them. Just like he did with us. But the Traveler never shared the Light itself. Not with us before the Collapse, not with them. The Traveler created Ghosts after the Collapse. After Rasputin forced Alpha Lupi to fight. To unleash all its Light and nearly destroy itself. I think that's when the Traveler created the Ghosts, who created the Guardians. As a measure of protecting itself, since the Traveler is too weakened now. We never had that Light before the Collapse, and I doubt the Fallen had anything like it before the Whirlwind. The Fallen look at us and see the Light the Traveler shared with us, in a way it never did before with them. It's probably one of the things that makes them hate us. It saved us, when it abandoned them, not knowing that it tried to abandon us as well once. They see us as Ghouls, hoarding over the Great Machine that might have once saved them. We are dead things, created by a dead power, and that is what we bring in our wake.
