Halo 3 : ODST
As of today, the game formerly known as [i]Halo 3 : Recon[/i] will henceforth be known as [i][b]Halo 3 : ODST[/b]. [/i]

The title doesn't stick quite as well. I believe this will make for a more appropriate game title however...

NO! ODST takes twice as long to say! I'm gonna be totally anti-ODST from now on and keep calling it Recon.

I'm not sure what I think. I don't really mind the change, I guess, and if anything I like the new title more than the old one. My only problem is that only Halo fans will really understand the acronym. The problem with acronyms is that people, especially on the internet, can replace the letters with whatever they please, most likely ridiculing the game. Also, I'm sure plenty of kids will ask for Halo 3: ODST for Christmas, only to get the Halo 3 Official Soundtrack (OST). For Halo fans, for whom the game is obviously made, the title is great. For everyone else, though, it is just a stupid acronym. I personally like the title, but Helljumper would be much better, appealing to fans and making the game sound badass.

ODST doesn't quite have the same ring as Recon.

Can I just go out of my way and be a sinic? Why does changing 5 letters to 4 make that big of a difference? From a LOT of ressearch i've conducted and experimented with in Halo 2 and some in Halo 3 aswell(Tho I HAVE gotten lazy.. but am still ressearching) I think you guys should read between the lines... [/quote] If you guy are true "hard core" halo fans a simple name change due to most likely legal aspects(tho there could be a little something here too to look into.. but not enough info to make it worth while yet). So basicaly stop worrying about 9 letters and worry about how your all going to have to make a [b]MASSIVE[/b] post about how bungie ruined the game with the latest update, or how you will now have to refine all your long discovered tactics! Just my two cen.. well.. maybe a bit more then just my two cen7s... And for my first post ever on Bungie forrums I can't wait for all the negative feeback:D (P.S Can someone tell me what the Heroic Member and all that sutff is? Please let us know which maps will be released "early next year" asap. I still fear that there a bunch of maps ready and they are held back by marketing/microsoft.

A good change, even though Recon was more a homage to the community. Giving everyone Recon is still a horrible idea. We don't need another Hyabusa!

i gotta say i'm pretty disapointed with the name change. is there some legal reason for the change? i feel like this name dosn't generate the same level of anticipation that recon did. imagine seeing the trailer for the first time and the title card read HALO3: ODST, i just dont think it would've made my mind explode in the same way. maybe its just me. not that it really matters. they could call it "HALO: Random New Project From Bungie" and we would all still go out and buy it. i like recon better...and is there no way to make the "ODST" in the wallpaper pic the same font style as "recon" was? I think it looks kind of dumb all white and glowy like that. It was better muted, kind of like it was stealthy, like an ODST...

I woulda liked Halo 3: Helljumper. But that's just a random thought. I think that the change is fine, but I do agree that Recon was better.
