I like the new name, but why the change of name now when the game has already been announced and the first trailer released? Why not have called it Halo: ODST from the start... i'm guessing the recon part was fun for a while though, no more 'I can has recon' comments. [Edited on 11.26.2008 4:37 AM PST]

I think they should take out the 3, so it is just: Halo: ODST or something like that. I think the main reason that people find this name change a little strange is the fact that the new name is the concatenation of a word and an acronym, unlike Halo 3 Recon which was not.

The new name is, well, lame. Recon was a much better name. I'm sure the game will be great no matter the name, but Recon was way cooler and much more original than "ODST." The new name has no personality. What were you thinking Bungie?

Has anyone else noticed how it's going to be harder to refer to Halo 3: ODST now? Before, everyone referred to it as "Recon," but now you're supposed to refer to it as "ODST." Doesn't roll off the tongue as well.

I'm sorry but ODST is just redundant and lame. Its like they changed the name to help the idiots out there who couldnt figure out that you play as an ODST from the trailer and pictures, not to mention articles out there. that specifically state it....

I kind of liked Halo 3: Recon more... It's slightly less annoying to say "Halo 3 Recon" than it is to say "Halo 3 Oh Dee Ess Tee" >_> <_<

I totally 100% agree with you. Halo 3 Recon sounds much better. adding the "ODST" at the end makes it seem like you're reading a paper for some school class that you dont care about. I cant even begin to tell you how angry I am about the name change. I think that there should be a bungie community vote on whether we should change the name or keep it the way it was. does anybody agree with me? lets make this happen. bungie, you do know that recon was a better name right? guess not. i hope eveyone in the studio isnt letting microsoft push you around like they did with the last two titles. recon had a lot more gravity with the fanbase at large... everyone is expecting a great game nonetheless, dont forget that!

Who's gonna' want to buy a game named after the person you play as. You might as well have just named the whole Halo Trilogy Master Chief 1, Master Cheif and Arby 2, Master Cheif, Arby and Spark 3.
