Constantly being sent back to orbit (Xbox One)

Despite playing perfectly fine during House of Wolves' launch, Destiny on Xbox One is suddenly and constantly returning me to orbit with the notification "You have left your Fireteam and are returning to Orbit." No error code, no warning, nothing. Destiny is also not notifying my friends that I'm online and playing the game, despite Xbox LIVE giving the correct information. I also know that this most likely isn't a network issue on my part because I've also been Skyping friends, using the internet on my computer, and using other Xbox LIVE services without interruption.

As of 05.2017 I am still having this problem. I have an Xbox360 and my son plays on it logged in as me at the same time I'm on Destiny. Could this be the problem or part of it? Also, I know my Internet has a STRICT NAT enabled on it as well and I get my Internet service as part of the ISP package from the Apt complex where I live so, I can't configure.

  • This just started happening to me yesterday.(Friday) It started directly after I completed the VOG after the reset. Every time I tried to do something it a sent back to orbit. I was lucky to stay in a session for 10 minutes. I think it might have something to do with the trials of Osiris. I uninstalled every aspect of destiny from my Xbox and am now reinstalling it. I'll repost again when it finish to let everyone know if it worked.

    • After reading alot in this thread I've come to the conclusion that every technician gives the most generic user error based info possible regardless of the perceived intellect or experience of the customer. This is not a Bungie thing. It's customer service tech support training 101...but that mentality in this case is old and it's broken. I'd be curious how many Xbox One owners like myself, also have or had a 360 and an original Xbox. What that means to you the tech, is if you get wind of a gamer tag that's 11 to 13 yrs old then that means those owners, if they played halo or any other AAA title online they became very familiar with what routers played nice and how to achieve open nat. I've had open nat and the right settings everytime. The only time it changed was when something beyond my control changed. Then when Microsoft or whomever fixed it. I had no problems. Again on their end. NAT is a made up term by Microsoft to describe their ideal port configuration. Your isp has no control over this, with the exception of if the gear they provided can't be configured the way you need it to be, or maybe if they have an outage. But that would cause total connection loss, or speed delays. Most of us adult gamers these days have some type of amateur or at least semi professional computer/networking knowledge. It's time to start posting better solutions or addressing what could be something more from your end. I don't know if they're programming resource or bug issues, server size, or number...whatever. But when folks from multiple countries with varying consoles and varying isp all say we aren't having problems with anything but Destiny, then maybe it's time to look inward. Most of us have eliminated the 101 tech support solutions as viable fixes to our problems. I feel that we as gamers who have supported Bungie in this endeavor deserve to not have the DC's or have a way that when we get that DC code we can go log on to the site and give that code and if we were in a daily or weekly, for example, we would automatically get the rewards for that endeavor. Just the guaranteed rewards. This is why. We don't pay you guys to waste our time. Usually in the retail world when there are failures this frequently, the customer is offered things to say. Hey were sorry and we're fixing it. Saying sorry, and fixing it is great. BUT, how do expect repeated verbal apologies to cover all the time and effort that guardians have lost? Also, will note. I love H.O.W. and everything that came with it. But why did you take away blades of crota events(I have a theory as to this one)? Why are public event missions few and far between now? Why when you fix one thing with currency, you break others? Why are motes of light happening on a daily? I thought that's like the only place we can get ascendant from. I realize you're trying to keep traffic up on the severs and not make things go too quickly for people before next DLC or game release, but this, to all of those like me who've lost time and items for screw ups that we didn't pay for or cause, it's insulting and frustrating to say the least. The more you break our ability to multi task all things that can advance you, the more it wastes our time. Also. I love the look of the New app. But it's speed and functionality are being lapped by a one legged tortoise. If everytime I grab my phone and use the app to move something, the app decides to sync the data from every category; I might as well not use it. If it's faster to go old school...Tower, vault guns, log out, log in, tower, then retrieve....if it's slower than this, well maybe you should have perfected app a little more or kept the old format. Innovation is not innovative if it lacks praticality, and functionality. We love this game and the universe you've made for us. Most of us acknowledge that as a company that your effort to balance catering to the gamer as well as maintaining a solvent business model is tireless, but wasting a gamers time because you think we need to be delayed is also quite unacceptable to us. The only thing that most of us see as an acceptable or known risk of time loss is due to network issues, provided that they are addressed successfully, and in a timely fashion. It's when you add all of it together we get peaved. I thought you wanted this community to be united in love for this realm, not united in mutual frustration and despair about problems we have no control over, bit you as the company do have that control both proactive, and reactive. So I implore you Bungie, as somone who has bought new retail copies of just about all your games, we need more proactive tech support and some way to have both proactive and reactive based customer service... Simply put...Many of us feel cheated out of time. Compensate us for time lost when stuff like this happens with in game schwag commensurate with our activity at the time. That would go a long way to fixing everything. Maybe this is not common practice in the software business. Well here's your chance to be just as innovative in customer service as you are in game development. Don't let us down. Side bar...can we get ship artists who aren't obsessed with that lime green highlighter color? Or maybe just a way to simply alter the colors themselves. Compared to everything else, this is minor. But I'm thinking that most of us get a little disappointed when after getting a charters look and shader down, and they're looking quite boss; Only to later get that ship you wanted like Ketch Me If You Can, and then discover your toons are riding around in ships the same color as a melon ball shot or a midori sour. Anyway if someone from Bungie sees this, which I hope you do. Thank you for the hard work, and time, please hear my words, for if I didn't care I would not have bothered.

    • Do you happen to be in Australia on Telstra? Lot of us are having issues with random disconnects... I'm thinking it was with the ISP however it seems to be more widespread?

      • My problem has (seemingly) resolved itself. I haven't been brought back to orbit since the 22nd (I'm posting this comment on the 24th). However, I am suffering many connection issues across all Destiny services and locales. I would like to reiterate that this sort of connectivity issue is only happening in Destiny. Every other game, service, application, etc. works perfectly fine on Xbox One.

        • This has just started to happen to me as well. It also seems to occur more frequently for me during Trials of Osiris.

        • Same here. Have my network optimized, always had a great connection. Since HoW dropped I've been bounced back to orbit multiple times in any given activity. Today was just patrol on Earth, yesterday in PoE and strikes, so on and so forth. It's frustrating. Also many friends show up offline or online when they aren't.

Than u can look at the same fu,ck asss spaceship as the screen loads. Its kool dude. Its part of the game. I've actually spent more time in my space ship than I have playing the same repetitive missions... Only to get another spaceship to sit in... While loading in space... O ya my friends got the same spaceship to.

I've been getting kicked back to the start up menu from weasel. Months and months of playing without error codes. Dlc drops and I've been plagued. (360)
