Ascendant materials role in House Of Wolves
If we have old legendary weapons/armor that are not fully upgraded (which I do) will we still need ascendant materials to complete the original upgrade path? I notice they are no longer listed as a reward for the daily and I did not get any from completing public events today so how are they earned now? I can exchange materials at the speaker but what if I need an ascendant shard but have no ascendant energy to exchange? Or if I ascend these legendary weapons does it remove the need to have ascendant materials?

Ascendant shards and energy are still used to upgrade legendary weapons and armor up to the point of ascension and then ascension takes them to 365 damage for weapons and light level 42 for armor

Vault of Glass is still a good way to get Ascendant materials. The daily heroic still gives ascendant mats if it is not a House of Wolves mission.

1 ReplyI've been wondering the same thing since I can't seem to find a use for Ascendent Materials other than exchange. I don't have any older Legendary weapons to check if they still require the materials for the final upgrade path. The Crota's End weapons/ gear still require Radiant Energy. Ascendent Materials are still rewards for the Daily Story at levels 26 and 30. So maybe there still is a use for them? Otherwise I would expect the reward to change to Motes.
