Clearing up some questions with some answers about Halo 3: Recon.

Im getting tired of people posting things like "nice update" and "cool" and thats all they have to say. I know its support from fans and stuff like that but if your a true bungie fan you should be relizing that bungie has deffinatly been acting unusual lately. it should be more like yay??! instead of YAY!!!! there are some of you out there that know what im talking about and for the others, look both ways next time you cross the street.

do we get new armor for our multiplayer character when we complete the new achievements for halo 3?

So.... "Winter" eh? That 1/6/09 date is looking mighty good. Its better than "Spring" but worse then NOW!

I am thinking its like this.I think it will have EVERYTHING that halo 3 had.and more.So it will have the original campagin and the new.And i think everyone will not know if you had halo recon or halo 3. so if you have halo recon and your friend has halo 3,if you chose a halo recon mission the person with only the halo 3 disk will say what it says if you dont have the legendary maps. "person cAN not load these maps".And if you want to,you could just throw away your hao 3 disk because it is a exspansion and not a standalone game.reply and quote. First... I'm glad Bungie isn't making us get H3R to get the multiplayer maps. But I'm not sure if I'm going to bother getting it, the Halo campaign has gone downhill with each installment.

I still have so many questions.... Ah forget it! I'll just wait a year, get the game, and that'll answer all my questions for me.

They could just have everything on the H3:R disc export to your hard drive and then use the regular H3 disc to play it. That would make things a lot more simple and cause less confusion. I'm sure everyone has enough HD space and Rock Band proved that this was possible with RB1 songs in RB2.

So, is Recon the EXACT SAME as Halo 3 EXCEPT for the campaign? Will my Halo 3 Recon disc play with my friends Halo 3 disc?

Okey I finally get the map thing know, so both games run using the same map files and map variations, the only thing I would find strange is during infection. I would never expect to see an ODST running faster than a mongoose carrying a gravity hammer... Nor would I expect a Spartan II but thats not the point!

w00t! I can't wait. I hope the multiplayer will have some kind of class based gameplay, like medic, engineer, sniper and stuff like that... If not, thats ok! At least it won't be the same kind of multiplayer with ODST as the only difference.

One could be under the assumption that Halo 3: Recon could lead to Halo 3: Something else and so on, but in the update it specifies that H3R is the last "offshoot" of the Halo campaign... guess we'll just have to wait and see. but first i'm gonna have to change my pants.

just wondering, since you guys are saying that recon will have the mythic map and other multiplayer maps. does that mean the other multiplayer maps are exclusive to halo recon? so we will have to swap disc (halo3 to halo recon) just to play the other multiplayer maps?

You could always change your armor. Not what you meant? Okay. I kind of expect them to update Halo 3 multiplayer at the same time. Just change a few things at the time that Recon comes out, keep it fresh, make it seem a little different.

sounds cool but a bit of a letdown to me, im all about the multiplayer not the game itself, so basically it wont do anything for the multiplayer but add a few more maps, am i correct? It would be awesome if you could play as the ODST on multiplayer with new maps to spice it up as a new game in itself.

That's kind of odd, I've been working on making a wallpaper out of that exact screenshot they're using in the update. It was tricky to get it because the flash is so fast and I didnt have a frame-2-frame tool so I had to pause a billion times to get it right. As for the update, good Q and A.
