This is a script for the firefox extension, Greasemonkey. If you do not have firefox, then get it. If you do not have Greasemonkey, then you can get it here.
Now the time has come for the best script you have ever seen.
Bungie Who's Online will tell you who is online, and who is not. The only drawback is that it will only pull info from the users that have the script, but it's still a nice script to have nonetheless.
For those of you who do not wish to be displayed as online, there will be an update which has that option for you.
First, a preview of what it does to your post
Second, the tutorial.
1. You can hover over the status image in the link above and it will say is online/offline as well.
2. You can click the status image, and it will show a popup of epic proportions.
3. Colors: Blue = Online, Gray = Offline, No Bar = No script.
Third, it works because of an external server I have setup. You send the current time to my server, and also get the list of users and dates every time you view a thread.
Lastly, the download.
Version 1.4: Download
Update: Mibbit sucks, for chat, please use this until the next update comes out in the next few minutes.
If a popup will not show up when you click the status images, enable popups for bungie.net by clicking a little notice on the bottom right of firefox.

Neato! lol, I'm painting.

I remember discussing something like this a while back. Looks pretty neat I'll give it a download later.
-
Now to urge each and every single person I've ever seen in my life to download this script. Awesome script by the way, now I can know when I'm about to be "Soniced."
-
I love this script so much! My only complaint is the chatbox reloads the page when you close it, and you can't browse through the site with it open, actually I'll test tab browsing, see if I can just have a window for the chat box open. But later on, if you could get it to be it's own sort of 'window' that doesn't affect anything else, that would be a lot better.
-
DANG, I have yahoo not firefox. This really sucks for me.
-
hehe, You can tell when someone downloads it and doesn't say thanks :) So thank you! This is very useful! probably, i haven't had much of a chance to try it out yet.
-
I love this feature. I wish everybody used it. ^_^ Only complaint I really have with it is that when closing the chat it reloads the page. Other than that, absolutely no complaints. Very good job.
-
Nice, I like this better than the big box.
Posted by: dazarobbo Very cool. One question; how often/how much data gets sent to the server? I don't particularly want it to eat up my bandwidth (or whatever the technical term is). : )
I do not know, I'd have to custom log the requests and then read the results after a day. I'd say about 8-16 bytes sent by each user, and about 1.60 kilobytes for each image that is pulled, plus the actual date data that is pulled, so about 18 kilobytes average for one thread view, if my math is straight, it can be off sometimes. glad to see you got everything worked out =)

Very nice.

Very cool. This will make me start to use Firefox more now hopefully.

The shoutbox lets you talk to people instantly, no matter what forum they are viewing. It is much faster(and more fun) than the PM system, and everybody viewing the shoutbox can see what you wrote. People should use it more; I'm all alone.
Posted by: HaIoChick4Ever So I take it that if I leave FF open it'll say I'm online? Cool. Wow. That makes my avatar look so hawt... (jk) Thank you XD
No, it counts on how much time has passed since you last opened a page up on bnet.
Posted by: Duardo What information does it take from my computer to yours? Is it possible to actually steal something of mine (password, etc)?
The only thing it 'takes' is the already existent Bungie.net cookie 'Bungie Display Name'. This is then put in a MySQL database with a time stamp. The rest is just simple math.
-
Nice, I've downloaded it and it is awesome!
Posted by: Duardo What information does it take from my computer to yours? Is it possible to actually steal something of mine (password, etc)?
Never, ever, would I do something like that. It only takes your user name, and it does the rest. That is the only thing that this script sends is your username. To be technical, there is a cookie called "BungieDisplayName", it takes that and that only. [Edited on 10.10.2008 7:04 PM PDT]
