Where were all the Thorn haters Dec. 1st?
When patch 1.1 came out where were all you Thorn haters?
The answer is either you were a xmas noob and didn't have the game yet, or you were balls deep in crucible with your Suros. Thorn got a slight buff on patch 1.1, yet no one seemed to care back then. That's right, it was actually worse back before 1.1, again no one seemed to care after the slight buff.

See those numbers for the top half of players in the top half?
Hand Cannons at 7% and Auto Rifle use is over double that. No one really cared about Thorn or other Hand Cannons then.
Feb 25, and 1.1.1 [weapon balance patch] hits and all hell breaks loose.
Forum thread tone is basically, R.I.P. bros, pour one out for Suros. Not a peep about Thorn, for a few more months.
Now, like cockroaches you've all started show up everywhere. Here is a reality check for you, Thorn isn't going away, neither are those other weapons all of us seem to be getting killed in crucible by.
*Adapt and overcome, or join the club. Either way its Bungie's fault PVP is the way it is, don't blame the gun.

1 ReplyMy only complaint on thorn and TLW is their range. I don't think that pistols should have the range of scout and sniper rifles. That being said, I just want the weapon classes to be balanced. Using an auto rifle right now is suicide in the crucible.

Nerf the burn. It's such a cheap crutch that noobs need. Make it do 7 damage max.

People complaining or supporting something is the discussion you want. I'd recommend heading over to the "balance" section under the feedback tab to discuss weapon balancing issues. Thorn is fine as it stands. As I recall from experience, Thorn used to be 9 damage with a 3-4 against activated supers sometimes. Now it is a solid 3 with 7 normally. The titan skill tree allows for survival of a 2sk thorn in Iron Banner along with multiple pulse rifle variants which give freakishly good perks to the wielder who plays well with them. I'd say Thorn is balanced.

9 RepliesHello, If you complain about the thorn and believe it needs nerfing, you are delusional. Your ego simply has to blame anything and everything but your lack of skills so you blame the thorn. If you think thorn ruins the game, go to college and some funding and create a game without the thorn in it. If you have earned a thorn and an enemy is wielding it then simply switch to your thorn and go one vs one with them. The skilled player will prevail. If you havent got a thorn to equip then i suggest you get good enough to complete the bounty. I have never seen so many delusional cry babies congregate in one corner of the internet than on here. If it was a game breaker you really think that the developers who show cased trials would let it slip? Theyd decimate every single one of you cry babies with or without it. The big dude with a beard who looked like something from hobbit was using a mida tool! A mida! And still pwning the testers. Triplewreck was using thorn and getting beat. Its a highly competitive game and you silly spoilt cry babies screaming for nerfs are ruining a game that is perfectly fine. Nerf your lack of skill and nerf your spoilt attitudes and get on with the game or go play cod where all guns are the same. I welcome tears, i welcome hate. If you are a crybaby you are bound to respond negatively to this. Big up all the real OGs who know how to handle a thorn user and dont cry and scream for nerfs and can shoot a fair one.

6 RepliesI remember old Thorn. I actually was afraid of getting offered it(or Bad Juju) as an Exotic bounty. It sucked so bad. But now that it actually does damage, people want it dead. I see no problem with it, 2-3 headshots is normal for high impact Hand Cannons, as for the poison: a quarter of grenades already have DoT abilities, so why aren't sunsingers and incendiary grenades(and the godlike lightning grenade.) being called out for nerfs?

See basically Bungie is completely failing to balance the weapon types, so instead they just cater to the complainers and keep nerfing whatever is popular. So like 2 months from now expect the forums to be in a rage about scout rifles or something.

Thorn was good before the buff, I destroyed an entire team of tlw users(Xur happened to be selling for the 1st or 2nd time) on twilight gap holding point c( which was the point they were spawning at) and my team won with me in the top spot.

Because all the people who are shocking with hand cannons had OP weapons to rinse with, suros etc. Then when they had to find a different way to counter, all they want to do is cry on the forums. If I'm beating you at range with thorn, that's your problem not thorns. Close range? It's shocking, shotty or fusion comes round the corner, I've most likely lost. People need to Learn how to counter before crying nerf haha

Start buffing other weapons. Make them viable. There needs to be custom games. Custom games allows top players to play against each other and you would see weapon balancing then. Right now in MM you got a collection of scrubs or a full team against scrubs. Too hard to balance from using data from the entire community. The maps are a problem. I played combined arms and no way would i use a hand cannon on those maps. Right now all maps are viable for hand cannon use. Just what i think needs to happen for balancing. Networking is a whole different issue.

2 RepliesThorn was the third exotic weapon I got, and I actually loved it pre-buff. But I sure as hell don't remember it two shotting anyone without using the Final Round perk, and I sure as hell don't remember it being more accurate than a scout rifle.
