Question for people with Tattoos

I have been preparing to get my first tattoo, but i can't decide if i want to do color or black. Its a simple symbol and just 1 solid color. I originally wanted Red, but someone mentioned to me that colors fade faster than black. So now idk what would be better in the long run. Can i please get some advice here? Thanks friends!

  • Start with black, since it's your first you don't even know if you will even like getting tatted in the first place.

  • Red fades even faster than other colors, so you know.

First off how old are you? I got my first tattoos at 18 and 19. One of them is so stupid and I can't stand it. I have a huge one on my back that I still haven't gotten shaded so isn't finished. And im indifferent to it so dont care to spend the money to finish it I have one other which was my first and the only one with actual personal meaning and I love that one. Just like to warn people it's true what they say that just because you like something now dosnt mean you want it forever.

      • I did mine in black and my friend did the same in color. He said he'd rather have it in black.

      • Go to the good tattooartist, not to the cheap one.

      • If your white, get it done in black. The contrast will look good.

I got a tattoo... basically condemning religion in gray scale. You know the image of the Sacred Heart? Yeah. The one I got is all torn up and bleeding; ensnared in the band of thorns. The flame? Instead the flame has gone out and the remaining smoke eventually takes the shape of a demon. Spoilers are sample images that look... similar... kinda to what I've got. Sub out flames on the heart and beat it up some more. The demon at the top left of the second image is the closest representation I could find. • For your first one go small and black. Also follow the t shirt rule ---> if you put on a t shirt can you see your tattoo? The answer should be no, for professional reasons. But that's only my advice. Get what YOU want. That's the most important thing.

          • Honestly i'd have to see the design, because some tattoos will look better in color and some will look better in black. As for fading, if you go with a darker shade of the color and the ink is good, you shouldn't have to worry too much about that for a while as long as you take care of it.

            • Get a tattoo of an elephant around your dong. Chicks love that kind of shit.
