Halo 3 Title Update

wow i thought the update was great.. but what the heck... i logged in to play some matchmakeing to see my special rank in a ranked match.. well to my dismay i find out i dont have a rank at all!! didnt bungie say you keep your exp then add your skill to get your new rank in the spicific playlist? where the hell did this (team slayer etc. exp = 0) come from! this makes no god damn sense! where the hell is my rank i had in this playlist? i have a skill of say 10 in team swat... and have over 300 exp total. shouldnt i have a rank of Lieutenant grade four? not a zero? bungie where did you explain that we had to re earn our experience in each and every god dang playlist? you said total exp and skill in that playlist makes up our rank. so as i said before. why did you do this? now i feel i need to make my rank all the way back up AGAIN in team slayer. this is just as bad as resetting the ranks if not worse! im not going to play over 6000 games in team slayer just to get the freaking rank of general again if i had that rank in that playlist! i understand the need for individual exp but not in this fassion. it should be total exp plus exp from this playlist to equal the rank you have. EVERYONE RE-EARN YOUR EXP is what i believe you are saying. i feel very riped off because of this update.. not includeing the achevements

What's being done about it? Nothing. I send reports on these people all the time and yet I still see them online. The BR simply does not shoot straight. The AR is too strong. Seriously, what skill does it take to blindly run at someone holding down R then mashing B? The lag has gotten out of hand. Maps aren't/take forever to load on matchmaking. (I have a perfect disk) The melee system is -blam!- up. Whoever has the best connection wins. Somehow kids have managed an aimbot and godmode hack. What's being done about this?[/quote] I agree. im guessing if u unlock the vid master achievements u get the recon armor! ...bungie must have made themselves a even sweeter and better armor perm.

You should take time to read the weekly update, where this has been explained at least 3 times now, instead of simply posting inane junk on the forums. Anyway, Bungie was not keeping track of your experience per playlist before, which is why everyone's playlist ranking starts at 'Recruit'. Thanks and have a nice day.

I went home and played during my lunch break from work. Feedback below- Cons: Epitaph & Snowbound without shield doors are terrible. Of the three games I played two were objective (King of the Hill & Oddball). 8 ppl FFA oddball on SNOWCRAP (I can't remember what you're calling it but this name seems to fit) is the most pointless game I've played in Halo thus far.....It was like trying to run the olympic torch through Afganistan. I'm sure playing lonewolves with 8 ppl is really fun if you're ranked under say 40 and still working your way up....but trying to play 45's and up with 8 ppl in a room is just too many. My first impression is something like this: 60% of the time you spawn you are getting shot. 50% of that time you are being shot by more than one person and therefore you will die (even you amazing players will die quickly when being shot by two ppl) before being able to even aim a grenade for that hopeful "kill from the grave". Some consideration should be given to setting it back to 6 ppl, at least in ranked. Pros: I DO LIKE the new ranking, I think that was the best idea since Halo 3. (Halo 3 is the best idea since sliced bread so I see no point in making the old bread reference). I think this ranking system will give players the desire to play multiple gametypes and not just focus all their time & attention into trying to get a 50 in one gametype. So thank you for giving the game more "playability" as that's what makes online gaming so great. Well, that and the competition of course. All things considered the good out-weighs the bad so I say "Thank you". Besides, what we're all really waiting for are the new map (or maps) and Recon. You sneaky top secret devils just love keeping us on the edge of our seats, lucky for me I use a recliner.

this update is [b] horribile!!! [/b] now it will take longer for people to get a general so they will have to buy more subsciptions for live,,,thts the only reason why they did the matchmaking update in my opinon. im seriously thinking about quitting halo and going to [u]call of duty[u].

Taking Head to Head out must have been the crappiest thing Bungie could have done. I played that so much I was a 49.. a couple games away from my 50. I worked too hard for that playlist. I HAVEN'T BEEN THIS UPSET SINCE HALO 3's CRAPPY BR.

You ppl that don't understand the 7 on 7 achievement are cracking me up. In the most simple and shortest way possible I'll explain: You have different exp points for each playlist. If you have won 5 team slayer games today you will have 5 exp in team slayer. If you have not yet played or won a lonewolves game you will have 0 exp in lonewolves. All you have to do is not go past 7 exp points in ONE playlist. On October 7th play a game in the playlist that you have 7 exp points in. Done Example: I'm not going to play SWAT until October 7th. On October 7th I will play until I have 7 or more EXP in SWAT. That will unlock the achievement. =) ALSO - THOSE WHO ARE MAD ABOUT THE RANKING: Most of you are so far off about the ranking that it's sick. Most ppl will be able to become a general in at least one playlist now. But the real deal is that the rank really doesn't matter. Trying to get to a general and trying to get to a 50 used to be the same thing. Now it is not. Everyone's main goal will be trying to get to skill level 50, the only difference is now you can still make it to general without getting to a 50. Basically it comes down to this: If you're pretty good at a playlist you'll get to 50. If you play a playlist a lot you will get to a general. Those of you who are confused just need to realize the fine line between the two. Hope that helps some of you with the confusion! [Edited on 09.23.2008 12:50 PM PDT]

For anyone with half a brain they know that the 50 (which will still be there for the ranked playlists) means more than the symbol. The miliraty ranks became a status thing and trueskill is meant to keep the games competitive. By decoupling the symbol and trueskill they can reduce some of the trueskill manipulation that was taking place just to get a shiny symbol.

I do like this. While I'm a decent player I'm not amazing so while I may have a ton of wins they wern't in a row and I don't level up. This new system will at least be game type specific. 1 thing I'd beg they change is have it factor our current games won & lost into these new ranks to show all of our current progress. It can't be that hard to do.
