I bought it back when Xûr sold it, for collection purposes. Used it for the first time today on Prohibitive Mind / A Rising Tide bounty. Even totally unlevelled it felt great and made short work of the Vex. Why the hate? :/

Because chances are you were doing the lowest possible level heroic version of the strike, where any 300+ attack weapon will make short work of the Vex. In PvP and high level PvE, it just doesn't work as well as the standard go-to weapons. Doesn't mean you can't like it, though.
