The direction bungie has taken?
How do you feel about bungie as of now?
My opinion.
So, as we all know a lot of us felt let down by Destiny. However it is a new IP. I feel however that bungie will turn things around with the second installment. They know they made some major mistakes. I truly believe they will correct them in the next installment. If however they do not, I can honestly say that I am through being there customer and fan. Unless they make a new myth, Oni, or marathon >_>

They didn't want the MS/Xbox old guard to be able to have any status over the new kids. Either way, we're 6 months into Destiny's run and they still haven't done anything here for changing titles that were supposedly going to reflect "Destiny" accomplishments. I'm ok with them never implementing that for it would usher in a different type of elitism from the ones who do still actually grind away mindlessly, at-the-same-thing-for-the-157,432nd-time.... So where does that leave us? Right where we are. -No old, "earned" titles. -No new, mindless grinding titles ([i][b]Trall Slayer[/b] - This member has killed 1,468, 247 Thrall. What a special Guardian!!![/i]) -Keep number of years on the member cards that leave a hole in the experience. B.net =/= Destiny It was that way on B.Old anyhow.

Thanks to the comet, they likely won't need to wait until the next installment to reflect on most mistakes. Game mechanics and/or things that task last gen consoles will probably wait though.

Good topics in any of their appropriate place just get washed away with ease from the loads of crap that people post in a mere matter of seconds or minutes if your lucky. I know the population has grown mainly because of incoming PS users and a new IP and if it wasn't for notifications topics would be pretty much be one and done with no actual conversations taken place. So many threads I don't even bother with any more with used to including here in the 7th column. Yeah we have this new found freedom but, I feel like that should be earned and ban hammers should be swinging more swiftly to take control. I know for myself when I first started here I was a jerk, but I started to play nice because of punishment. Now it's just an animal house. You can only block/mute/report so many people before another user will just take their place. I'm hopeful that things will change once again, this time for the better, but my hope is running thin. My small voice only seems to be getting smaller in this vast ocean that once was a gentle lake. EDIT: Just wanted to add. I think if title bars came back it would be an incentive for new comers to earn their keep when they see us grizzled ancients and old skool folks rocking some sweet gear they might think twice before acting like an idiot. Positive reinforcement does work and I'm confident it will work.

As of late, I'm really on the fence about Bungie and the direction it's taking. I by no means hate Destiny, but I don't love it either. I'd like to love it, but it's missing a lot (story, extra features such as custom games, etc.). I'm not saying Destiny should be a carbon copy of Halo, but there's a lot from Halo that they could have used/learned from when making Destiny that should have been a no-brainer. In terms of the site and its community, they really can step up their game, in my opinion. I know direct changes to the site will take time to implement so it runs smoothly, but there are things that they can do right away that they for some reason refuse to do. For instance: when the Gaming subforum was overrun by Destiny topics, they could have simply made news posts and threads telling people not to post there (even when the game released) instead they let the situation sit until they changed the name and description of the Recruitment subforum. It's like watching a ship sink but instead of giving it a temporary patch, you wait until your at shore to repair the leak. The community also took a hard hit as well. People no longer use the community section because it became Destiny/Feedback/Help/Recruitment 2.0. Nobody is willing to set foot in here. The only time I've really seen good Community topics pop up were the occasional posts in #SeventhColumn and the few posts Deej posted asking what the Community subforum was for.

That was once true. Will it continue to be true in the future? After thirteen years of being a fan of Bungie, I'm actually starting to think that soon, that won't be true... And they will eventually begin to pedal backwards.

I feel Destiny has obtained a large following filled with its share of good and bad community members, but the community doesn't feel "united." Bungie displays singular members whom do something cool for the day or week. He or she indeed deserves time in the spotlight, but there is no sense of a unified member-base anymore. It's only about your 15 minutes of fame.

4 RepliesI ran Destiny through Gizoogle.net for laughs, came up with exactly how I feel about the game. Before game launch, I was convincing all the naysayers there was no way Destiny wouldn't be the most fantastic game ever to hit consoles, with the amount of talent, love and dedication, and considering Bungie's past history, no way this could go wrong (according to my taste in games). It went wrong for my taste, I enjoy cruising in Destiny and explore its beauty and music, rewarding head shots, but loathe grinding, just not my style, and that is the whole point of this game. The carrot is not attractive to me, so I keep chewing on my radishes in a corner, making up stories while hanging with the sweeper bots... I suffered mental breakdowns listening to the script throughout the story missions. "That wizard came from the Moon" was actually not that bad compared to what they kept in the game. If the writers and the story telling skills had come half way to the quality of the musical compositions, it could have been epic. That is only my opinion, some gamers are loving the game and I'm happy for them. From the way the game is evolving, they must be the majority. *goes back to dark corner to exchange imaginary tales with sweeper bots*

1 ReplyActually, I'm still unsure. I always try to be hopeful of the future that Bungie has, especially with its community. I love it too much not to care. And honestly, I love Destiny. That being said, this site is growing terrible. I know change was obvious and I have adapted to most of it but the sense of community is not the same and never will be. Not that that wasn't expected as well but the toll it took on this site is atrocious. We can't come back from that.

3 RepliesGive bungie some time. They probably had a hard time working out all the kinks in destiny and port it for four different consoles and meeting the launch date. They are used to focusing one console.
