Awful connection handling/matchmaking
Played a few games of crucible last night thinking I could have a bit of fun..
In each and every one, there was a person able to kill me from a distance or in a time they couldn't normally with that weapon (1 shotted by TLW, sniped by a hawkmoon, shotgunned from across a room, sniped long after I'd ran into cover, fusion rifled mid blink). Essentially, being killed when you are 100% certain that you couldn't have been killed that way (if the connection was stable and without latency.
These just say to me that we aren't where we think we are in the host's game, be it lag smoothing or just simple latency, it's the only reason I will ever get a negative K/D. This is the reason I'm going to stop playing PVP, this is the reason the majority of my clan have already done so.
We all have really good connections with a tiny amount of ping, and we constantly end up in games where there's at least one person who consistently has the drop on you, even if you fired first, with an outperforming weapon and hit every shot.
It's a fantastic game, the PVP is really fun when we don't have this issue, but it's happening so much that it's putting us all off playing now.

2 RepliesIt just takes 1 person with high ping to screw it up for everybody. I really wish there was a way to put ping limits on servers and group pings together more but with having networking background I know it would be near impossible with the net in A LOT of areas and countries. The U.S. doesn't actually have as good of internet as people think we do and we are actually WAY behind several other countries.

1 ReplyThe rats are realising that by purposely manipulating their internet connection they can get the jump on honest players, who needs a lag switch when Activision force Bungie to use their PVP lag compensation software that is so easily flipped to your advantage by just playing youtube on your smartphone. This is why I'm on Borderlands again, PVE is the future of gaming. PVP is last gen shit.

The server connections in this game are some of the worst i've ever seen in a PvP shooter. Agreed.

1 ReplyWhat bothers me the absolute most about the terrible connection to the servers is that this PvP has so much potential. It can actually be quite fun when it works as intended. Sadly, that only happens about 10% of the time or so it seems.

after playing the banner for a solid week none stop it put me off pvp for a while, its good when it works, but very frustrating when it doesn't, and unfortunately lately it been working for me less frequently. red bar players should glow red in the game so everybody can see who they are, or even better, kicked and put into a lobby where they are not red bar. One other thing that kinda bugs me that has happened a few times is after ive won a game I have been kicked from lobby and put into a losing game, way to suck the fun out of a win, just chuck me in to a match where my team are getting hammered.

Matchmaking is the same shit as the rest of the game. What's the point of play with someone at the other side of the world ? ... So every one can have red connection ? I don't understand how they can have done something as bad as it is. ... Oh wait ... Bungie dev team ...

3 RepliesLag really screws things up in PvP in this game. I am not proud to say I had an easier time time finishing the crucible portion of the Thorn bounty the other night, and alot of credit goes to the fact my wife was watching netflix while I was playing. I could really tell the difference.
