I've been experiencing this but on my PS4. It's annoying.

Other games working fine so I don't think it is anything related to the console providers. Or if it is other developers have better error fallback/use those services differently. No idea why bungie forced this to be an "always online" game. We have problems with the game, the app & website ... gear going missing ... and the game savedata is up in bungie cloud with all these bugs crawling through it. We can't even back it up to USB and handle our own restores if gear goes missing. Game going back on the shelf for another weekend ... still have not had enough actual play time to get into the game :(
