Warlocks who use fireborn.

I recently levelled up my warlock and got the fireborn super from the upgrade tree and was pretty excited to try it out! I was running around venus trying to get something to kill me so I could rise from the ashes and as I was running around I press the back bumpers... Lo and behold my super kicked into action even though I wasn't dead, my grenade and melee attacks were regenerating as fast as a sunsinger's super grenades and melee should and the damage enemies did to me was reduced! After playing this game since October I genuinely did not know that if a warlock had fireborn that they could start their super off if they weren't dead! I genuinely thought that the warlock had to die to use their super! So the point is, I know the main perk of Fireborn is the self revive but surely there are parts of this game where you could use your super anyway? Surely you can have some confidence to stay alive and generate some orbs for your team mates?

  • I'll save mine for nightfall or maybe a normal raid but that's it. I'll use it as much as I can in strikes and spawn so many orbs and kill everything my last strike I had over 200 kills while the other two had between 50 and 70.

    • I hold mines, not because I'm not confident in living but because I'm not confident in the others lol. The easiest way to die is saving someone else. I like holding it as a just in case everyone wipes I'll come back and save it. This is mostly for raids of course. I had one moment where we were on VOG hard and right before the minos died to end the gate keeper phase, the guy with the relic died. We was three manning it cuz everyone else already died. I got killed right after he dropped the relic so I popped the res, grabbed it, smash the mobs and let us go to the next cp. It's not good to depend on it and it seems like a stingy way to play, but I prefer having it always ready if I'm with a pug group and I'm not confident in how they've been playing. If I'm with people I know I just use radiant or song of flame. Song of flame is very nice for your party.

      • If you're using Fireborn you're saving it till you die. That's kind of the point. If you want to use it the normal way you use Radiant Skin or Song of Flame.

        • they feel they will die with their shit survival skills. maybe if they spawned more orbs we could put a bubble around them to save them or just bladedance the enemies in their way.

          • Depends on the situation as to when to use radiance. I like to save it for when there are multiple players around my corpse.

          • I use my radiance all the time during VoG confluxes. HoPF and spamming grenades is awesome.

              • Dude we use it all the time without dying... We only save it for clutch parts "the end of the abyss in case everyone dies, hard mode raids where losing one guy can -blam!- it all up, deathsinger in that cluster-blam!- room, etc

                    • I use fireborn offensively pretty often for Eris bounties (kills with solar etc.) Otherwise voidwalker/nova bomb is usually my preferred offensive option, especially with the Bad Juju/Obsidian Mind combo.

                    • I run Fireborn for my sunsinger just for Nightfalls/Weeklies, because I have wiped a nightfall at the very end, with a sliver of health, because one of us did something stupid. However, as a Warlock, running defensive and emergency response, if my teammates are smart enough to collect orbs (you think this wouldn't be an issue), I will use my super to generate as many orbs as possible, and rely on them to use their supers to return the favor and keep my ass alive. It keeps a steady stream of damage, and an emergency protocol when needed.

                      • Fireborn - Pro's: You can self revive which can be handy in situations like nightfall and hard mode raids. - It also doubles as radiance so you get those perks as well. Con's: You don't get any edge aside from basic radiance....nothing stops you from using your super at any time...but you risk losing your self revive ability should you find yourself in a situation that may call for it.
