Republicans have hurt America to a great extent, more so than Democrats IMO.
Obama isn't the worst thing to happen to America, he's actually pretty smart and balanced in his perspective. He isn't pushing for radical change, he's looking to fix the current system, and like any person or group of people his administration has their take on how to fix it. That's why he gets so much slack, both from people that want to radically change the system, and from people whose are benefitting the currently broken system. And then you have petty politics and media fabricated controversies.
Both parties simply represent the people that support their campaigns, and those that pay to lobby aka bribe/negotiate with politicians. The average voter and the bulk of citizens have to be proactive to get a piece of the pie, and we do.
In both parties we see that the grass root movements at the bottom are getting more good work done than those at the top. I think democrats are more sympathetic to the middle-lower classes and thus act accordingly when making public policy. But i do recognize the works of conservative grass root movements and don't view them as a political opponent.
But the fact is that there is a divide in America, thanks to the big money that has thrived off of the dividing of Americans (see "The Loudest Voice In The Room"). We have all been forced to take sides, I can't say I'm immune.

Edited by D1sturb3d100: 3/8/2015 10:43:40 PMI stopped reading after you wrote that he wasn't looking for radical change so I'm just gonna address that. He, with democrats in congress, took over 1/6 of the American economy in just one bill and they did it without reading the bill.
-
It's not a radical change because it worked within the insurance and healthcare status quo. Btw, the government regulating something that is 1/6 of the economy sounds about right to me, especially considering the problems within the healthcare industry that we are trying to address. A radical change would be universal healthcare, for example.
-
I would pick the free markets over elitists in washington to run the economy every time.
-
Edited by Bloom Unknown : 3/9/2015 4:10:28 AMThey aren't running it, they are regulating it. The "elitist" cry in defense of the free market is an odd remark. The "elites" run both the market and the government. I see a problem when private groups use the government to rig the system in their favor. When that happens, other private groups usually stand up to them and push for new legislation to combat it. Both are regulations, so we have good regulations and bad regulations. There is no such thing as "no regulations" in the 21st century because a long time ago we decided that things like product safety and consumer protection were important landmarks of a safe, livable society. We also decided that government is accountable for society and thus has the right to promote the general welfare of the public. In other words, our government has a right to protect its interests, which sometimes means taking care of its people so the entire nation doesn't crumble in hard times.

Lolno

Ok, explain to me how the legislation passed by Republicans in the last 40 years has helped America.
-
Strong moral values and policies have. National security, balanced budget, etc
-
Edited by Bloom Unknown : 3/9/2015 1:34:08 AMWay too vague and untrue for even you to believe it. National security? Total failure and a waste of trillions of dollars and thousands of lives. Balanced budget? Do I even have to explain after the $9 trillion 14 year war? Does the word recession ring any bells? Face it, you can't name one law that republicans have passed that have helped this country. I'm not saying there aren't any, but they are far and few in between. Their best bills have Democratic support. I see problems in both parties, but the arrogance and immaturity of the current Republican Party just doesn't fly with me.
-
9 trillion dollars is chump change Also I bush wasn't even a conservative
-
So $9 trillion and thousands of American lives are nothing, and some revisionist view of Bush and all of the sudden you have no ground to stand on? The truth is Republicans instigate war, enable violence, pollute the environment, destroy the middle class, and do just about anything else bad you can think of to protect their financial interests. The Republican Party represents a few dozen big money international groups and that's about it. They are the epitome of corruption in our government.
-
Lol, the middle class is stronger when republicans are in office. The south is way less polluted than the north. Obama has tripled bush's debt. Obama has also killed more people then bush. Stop being a idiot
-
Edited by Bloom Unknown : 3/9/2015 1:57:22 AMYour arguments are all completely wrong. Pollution in north vs south: simply untrue. Obama stepped into office at the beginning of an recession: again a gross oversimplification and a false narrative. Obama also stepped into a war: context matters. Stronger middle class under republicans: not true and when an overall oversimplification. The fact is that democrats hands aren't clean but it is hilarious the way you defend Republicans as if they are Jesus come down from the heavens.
