POLL: Do you like Skittles' new polling system?
Option 1: yes, Skittles. That will work. You're a goddamn genius!
Option 2: Nope. that's dumb. You're dumb.
Option 3: Mandatory third option that does nothing but skew the results.
So, polls are gone, obviously...
I liked polls. They were fun. In the absence of said polls, I would like to suggest an alternative:
threaded polls.
Whenever you make a thread that could be enhanced by a poll, you respond to the thread (yes, essentially bumping your own thread/double/triple/quadruple posting, whatever.. that crap doesnt matter anymore) with each of your poll options. users then comment in the sub-thread corresponding to whichever option they prefer. The number of replies in each sub-thread, then, dictates the number of votes for that option.
Obviously this system has its flaws: multiple "votes" per user, for example. But in the absence of an actual polling system, i think it's going to have to do.
What do you think?
edit: after osting your responses, you should probably update your OP with links to them in case they get buried.
