Focused Fire is a Nerf not and upgrade.

So recently I came into a Suros Regime. To be honest I'm a scout rifle guy, but I was still excited to get what many consider the best auto rifle in the game. I thought at the very least I could use it in PvP (as I prefer auto rifles over scouts there). I wanted to see how much of an "Upgrade" Focused Fire really was so I collected some data last night and to my dismay discovered that the Focused Fire "Upgrade" is actually a NERF. I first went to Cosomodrome and did some timing of how long it took me to empty the mag (both with and without focused fire). What I measured was that the Rate of Fire (Rounds per Sec) decreased by approximately 43% from ~7 RPS down to ~4.8 RPS Next I hopped over to the crucible and captured some damage data. Focused fire only increased the damage by 30% for body shots (from 20 to 26) and by 33% for head shots (from 24 to 32). NOTE: I think the actual increase is 33% which would put the body shot at 26.666667 which is truncated down to 26. Even a 33% increase can't overcome a 43% reduction in RPS. I know the argument that the slower rate of fire will allow you to do more headshots. While that is true, it would require what 50% of your shots be headshots in order to reach the non nerfed DPS.

You cant use purely statistics without factoring in player skill. The slower fire allows better accuracy. How much dps increase this will cause is different per player (one could argue that a player should be skilled enough to make all-crits in both situations, a bit unrealistic id say). You get more dmg per magazine, you get better accuracy, you dont need to reload as often, becomes more effective at a longer range. Those are all factors that need to be counted, not just flat dps. And then there is ofcourse preference. Oh, and on average, more than half my scoped shots are crits, something i couldnt do as easily with a higher rof.
