A solo player's Nightfall experience
1st let me say that I understand nightfall strikes are intended to be a highly difficult 3 man event. That being said, I think this last round of strike balancing was a bit of an overkill.
As a person who only runs solo, I used to enjoy attempting nightfalls when they had a burn modifier. I wouldn't always make it to the end, but I found the slow crawl through the strike to be allot of fun.
Unfortunately, after this last patch I can hardly takedown a single shielded elite heavy. Pumping every round I have in all of my weapons to take down 1 guy is ridiculous. The rate at which they absorb rounds is OBSCENE.
Your patch notes said you rebalanced the strike so that running with a team would be more of a benefit instead if a burden. I completely respect that. It also said that running solo would be more challenging, which is completely understandable.
I don't mind a challenge. I don't even mind failing because I got overwhelmed, but this... this is crazy! This isn't a challenge, this is a cruel joke.
I accept that I'll never get to run a raid. I also accept that I won't be able to participate in 90% of your "special events". I even accept that I have to get used to abandoning exotic bounties and forgo their rewards.
But relegating solo players to only dailies and patrols is just plain mean. I really was enjoying myself for awhile. Even with the LIMITED amount of content I had access to, I had hope that you would open up more at some point. Instead, I have even less content to participate in now than I did when the game launched.
*(imo) The Nightfall was the solo player's equivalent of a Raid. Because it was the only "end game" content we had with decent rewards.* With so much empty space and underutilized areas already in the game, I would have expected you add more things to do before you started gateing even more content behind a wall of griefers and asshats.
I'm very disappointed with this turn of events. I can only hope this isn't indicative of your future plans, because for a little while I was really enjoying myself.

Hell...I'll run with anyone who writes that eloquently... I can tell you that you can try DestingLFG.com. I've had pretty good luck finding a mate for nightfall, and I can say that all of my VOG and Crota runs were put together on that site. I've been fairly lucky that I got in with some good peeps who were willing to put up with my 'noobness'. There were also a few times that the groups were not very good and broke up quickly. Like you, I am a solo gamer. I had zero PS4 friends when I picked up a PS4 and Destiny back when the beta came out. And, as an older gamer (50+), it's not like my entire subdivision was racing out to buy the game like the students and younger generations. But eventually you might make a mate or two. I have one guy that speaks very little English that jumped on my fireteam once. We made it thru a Nightfall and a Weekly together, and now it's become a weekly thing. We say very little, but I know his style, and he knows mine, and we help each other out. I couldn't tell you his name or where he's from. It can be rather invigorating when you're stuck with little or no ammo and you see someone jumping onto your fireteam. It's also satisfying when the situation's reversed. So, if you're on PS4, drop me a line. Me and Sergio would be glad to run with you. Just don't expect much converstation. :-)
