Been banned from matchmaking for modding, cheating, boosting, being a jerk? Post about it and how it was your little brother's fault here. Other threads about this subject can be locked and posters may end up as residents in the official Bungie.net version of Banadu.
Warnings were given:
The Bad News First
From July 3rd Weekly Update
Recently, we’ve seen a moderate influx of things appearing in File Shares that don’t belong there. Some this is just tweaked content from Halo 3 that has been uploaded in sundry and illegal fashions. In fewer cases, there have been a relatively small number of incidents of folks uploading inappropriate non-game content to the File Share.
Fair warning: Users who have modified content on their File Share - regardless of who created said content - will be subjected to the full power of the Banhammer’s thrust. This includes some never-before-unleashed technology that will effectively terminate your Halo multiplayer experience online in every imaginable facet. In fact, the ban is so thorough that simply calling it the Banhammer is a complete understatement. I just couldn’t come up with a more hyper-exaggerated term that had the same feel. Banplatform? Banpocalpyse? Banmageddnon? None of those did the trick.
Punishments are metered.
Justice is served.
Why so harsh? Because ultimately, the potential blowback for something like Fileshare is pretty grand. The Fileshare is not to enable players to put up whatever they want and think it's hilarious, regardless of how harmful or harmless you think it is.

Could we also put on a "disable mark" on stuff from being uploaded/copied? Like stuff from this Author cannot be uploaded to any fileshares, make it a setting on B.net profiles [Edited on 09.18.2008 6:46 AM PDT]

Dear Bungie You make awsome games. You make people happy. I love evreything about Halo. i Have 3 posters in my room and 2 t shirts. I messed up once having a modded picture. No offence to that. But it was making fun of call of duty. Wouldent you like for people to hate call of duty and play Halo3? Anyway i was woundering if i could have a second chance? And yes i like chezz bergerzzzz
Posted by: Church187LOL! Thanks Rich, now I have an image in my head of Olivia Newton John roller skating around imprisoned Spartans and Elites singing "BANADU! BANADU!"
GOD NO! Actually there is a Rush song called Xanadu (on the album Farewell to Kings) that is where my mind goes. It is far more pleasent to have stuck in your head. [Edited on 09.17.2008 4:14 PM PDT]

Its Simple: -Don't Ask For Recon -Don't Mod -Don't Hide In Matchmaking Then You Don't Get Banned

LOL! Thanks Rich, now I have an image in my head of Olivia Newton John roller skating around imprisoned Spartans and Elites singing "BANADU! BANADU!"
-
Banadu (BAN' uh doo) Just like Xanadu (ZAN' uh doo)
-
is it pronounced BANadu, banAdu, or banaDU? real question
-
they should have a teams of 5 star generals who face level 49 recruits/appreentices and automaticly demote them to level 1
-
I think that Banadu is a real-life Snowbound. Not HC Snowbound, but the old Snowbound with the Shotty. The boosting, hacking, and modding morons are all thrown in there with nothing but a Plasma Pistol that doesn't charge. When the banned idiots try to pick up the shotgun, the Guardians begin to blast them in the face. Shishka comes in about halfway through the match and picks up the shotgun, while Luke grabs the Ghost. After that, they proceed to pwn and teabag for eternity. This is Banadu.
-
I think that anyone who modds, hacks or cheats should get front row tickets to ban halen.
-
I think Banadu should be a real place on Halo and rather than you not beingable to play halo online at all it just send you to banadau which is just sandtrap with nothing in it, there people can moan at each other saying that ist was my ittle brothes fault and stuff. You could have competitions to get out of banadu like a last man standing game with bungie. That would be funny
-
whts modding? and wht pics do people put up that get them banned?
-
haha, don't cheat and you don't get banned. What was the point anyways?? i mean, l like the boobies, but thats what the internet is for ,, not halo =]
Posted by: BDfreshman lol it's those damn red ring's fault! BAN THEM!!!! If you're 360 got RROD, just go to a friend's house and recover your account and take off your modded pic.
Ah, but you played with fire and got burned. Just because you didn't have time to discard your incriminating evidence doesn't make you innocent. Is Bungie trigger happy? Well, it is fun to rightously punish. [Edited on 09.14.2008 10:44 AM PDT]

Free vacations to Banadu! Home of the Banimal and the popular weapon, the Banhammer! couldn't help but say that So anything modded is not to be put on fileshare, including screenshots of mods? Still confused about this but I don't have any modded crap anyway.
-
I thought once id get banned for sure one time...... A RP sent me a jpeg and i put it on my file share (i didnt know just HAVING it would get me banned) but then i read b.net the next friday and it says that if players have it they will get banned. SO I FREAKED OUT AND RAN ACROSS THE HOUSE TO REMOVE IT!
Posted by: kid ka boom1802 i had a pic of clone on my screenies, but i deleted it, it wasn't my game, i joined with a friend (honest) cud i still get banned?
from weekly update 8/01/08 Q: I took a screenshot of this modded map, can I be banned from Matchmaking for that? A: Nope, the screenshot of modded content isn't a bannable offense. Just don't upload the modded content to your File Share.
Posted by: DeathSytheHell Same with me, I'm restricted from playing any user-created content. I'm not banned from Matchmaking, but for some reason I can't play any custom games. Is there a reason as to why this happened? EDIT: Correction, I can't play on any custom MAPS. I recently downloaded alot of MLG maps from fileshare... is that a bad thing? I'm stuck having to play on the default maps now, nothing custom.
change your parental settings i think.
