The Official "I've been sent to Banadu" Thread
Been banned from matchmaking for modding, cheating, boosting, being a jerk? Post about it and how it was your little brother's fault here. Other threads about this subject can be locked and posters may end up as residents in the official Bungie.net version of Banadu.

[i]Recently, we’ve seen a moderate influx of things appearing in File Shares that don’t belong there. Some this is just tweaked content from Halo 3 that has been uploaded in sundry and illegal fashions. In fewer cases, there have been a relatively small number of incidents of folks uploading inappropriate non-game content to the File Share.
[b]Fair warning: Users who have modified content on their File Share - regardless of who created said content - will be subjected to the full power of the Banhammer’s thrust. This includes some never-before-unleashed technology that will effectively terminate your Halo multiplayer experience online in every imaginable facet.[/b] In fact, the ban is so thorough that simply calling it the Banhammer is a complete understatement. I just couldn’t come up with a more hyper-exaggerated term that had the same feel. Banplatform? Banpocalpyse? Banmageddnon? None of those did the trick.[/i]
Punishments are metered.
Justice is served.
Why so harsh? Because ultimately, the potential blowback for something like Fileshare is pretty grand. The Fileshare is not to enable players to put up whatever they want and think it's hilarious, regardless of how harmful or harmless [i]you[/i] think it is.

Exactly. The least you can do is not change the name, The Most you can do is just NOT PUT IT ON YOUR FILE SHARE it seems like people purposely try to get themselves banned by putting inappropriate things. ya know even though Halo 3 is Rated M there is still kids who play it who's parents don't wan them seeing things Put on peoples file shares.... So Just keep it clean.

yup, i got busted for EXP boosting.. i jsut wish i wouldnt have done it now, wasnt even worth a 2 week EXP ban, seeing how i got about 15 exp out of it and thats it, all theses other kids get like 100s

For everyone worried about the "sensitivity" of the Banhammer's trigger, you can relax. You are not going to get banned for kicking everyone elses butt. The games that are getting people banned involve people signed on with guests that, suprise, get no kills, no time with the oddball, whatever. If you just win, even a lot, you're fine! The system is detecting manipulation, not just winning or success.

Banhammer is automated the only thing watching you is a program that doesn't care how well you do. alright i just want a reply not some shouty comments i boosted to get the oddball achievement because it was impossible for me to get a legendary oddball game, i know i shouldnt have and accpet my ban. i am NOT complaining about the ban ok i am complaining about the fact that i got banned for it and my friends that did it, some of them did it with me did not. im just thinking thats a teeny bit unfair

2 weeks. i got an exp ban for boosting exp in a playlist, im not gonna moan about it because i gusess i deserved it. I wont be doing it again but im just glad people will watch me closley from now on so i can show off good medals when i get them!

Hello Bungie i have been a loyal fan since Marathon Duranald i have enjoyed all of your games since then i own the halo 3 xbox 360 and halo 3 legendary edition. The reason i am here is because i was helping my friend to get some achievments last night i turned my xbox on loaded up halo 3 only to be greated by a message saying my xbox and acount have been banned from halo 3. I would like to know if you could lift this ban or how long it will last. Also because i am banned i can still enjoy halo 3 matchmaking and earn levels toward my general BUT i earn no EXP this is a mojor flaw in your system since it makes it easyer for me or other people with the bannhammer to boost our acounts using the "Recruit trick". The sound of this to me is terable. Well i hope we can meet an agreement. If you want you can see how many games i won whilst helping my friend and take that EXP away from me since i didn't legaly earn it.

Ok, so i get the error message of, your xbox has been banned from earning exp. then another that says this account has been banned from getting any exp, is this all lifted in two weeks? cause i hope its not forever.. my friend who "boosted" with me, has the second error message only, talking about the account.. please tell me ittle go away... and u know what sucks the most?! I CANT GET THE 7 ON THE 7th ACHIEVEMENT!!!?!?!?! WTH!!!!!!!! :( this is worse than a ticket... and its messing with my emotions...

Quick question to those who also got banned cause of EXP boosting: any of you notice if your career stats page stopped updating? I'm pretty sure mine has, as it has not been updated for quite awhile now; guess there is more to this EXP ban then they let on. Oh well, I guess I deserve it. See ya in two weeks.

oh crap... from what it sounds like the ban-hammer trigger is really sensitive. I hope I don't get hit just because I earned a ton of XP in brawl today.

I'm glad that the banhammer is coming down hard...Maybe a bit too hard, but this definitely has to be helping the online gaming experience. I just hope they didn't focus too much on the little guys, and leave the big guys out there to mod, standby, and bridge their way to victory. I have confidence in Bungie though! Thanks

what if you are good enough to go 25 kills in a row? I'd hate to be a good player then. I say it should be less sensitive to people who get high KpD.

OMG this is awesome, i love all the boosters and cheaters crying because they know exactly what they did... you all got caught, the jig is up, should have just played legit... Legitimately getting your level and achievements is way more satisfying anyway.

WHAT THE HECK! I got a ban message right in the middle of getting the Annual achievement. And yes I got it (: Maybe boosting to a Lieutenant has something to do with it? Or having a quitting penatly of -344? But I am proud to say I'm one of the 6,600 people who have been victimized by the Banhammer 2.0. I'll only be visiting Banadu for two weeks, so don't miss me when I'm gone! Love, _HK
